Sal y Limon has relocated south on Fraser near 45th Ave as their old location is being redeveloped. This new space has a considerably smaller dine in space. Stayed with my go to...the chicken burrito. They got it right...love the taste and flavours. It was another positive food experience.

The food is decent but the sneaky way in adding extra chargeable things to the order is not. And this is after I explicitly told the owner/cashier I do not want to add anything extra. And I only realized the extra charges after I paid and saw my receipt. Pro-tip: ***Ask for the itemized bill at the cashier when ordering before paying*** I have driven past this place countless times on kingsway but never stopped in due to the tiny parking lot and the weird shape of the lot. My friend wanted Mexican food and it was before the meal rush so we got lucky and found a parking spot. The place was not busy with two tables occupied then. The owner was friendly and told us the ordering process. Look at menu then order at the counter before taking a seat. As it was a quiet day we were told to take the menu to the table to browse. All good. I went to order for both of us. The owner would always ask if to add stuff by naming the item eg guacamole, pico de gallo, cheese, chicken, pork, vegetables etc. I said guacamole to one taco as my friend was new to Mexican food and didn't know what guacamole was and wanted to try just one. I said nothing to the tortilla soup, plain. So he said just vegetables? I said yes as I thought it was already in the soup since I already said no extra to the soup. It was only after I got the receipt that I noticed he added guacamole to both tacos and the vegetables in the soup was extra charge. The receipt didn't even show the extra charges, just the total. As with most places, there is a tip function and you can't put in by $ amount, only by percentage. I gave a tip which I totally regretted now after seeing the receipt payment how he already charged me extra. I dislike such sneaky and dishonest way of upselling. I doubt I'll come back here again. And seriously why ask for the tip? I order up front and I bus my own table after the meal.

Wanted Mexican and I keep seeing this place every time I drive by on Kingsway Decided to drop by and eat in but one of the regrets wanted to go home and get on his computer. So take out it was.....dark interior but bright because of the sun...cashier was patient and pleasant....after ordering was directed to wait outside...order came out quickly... I ordered a burrito bowl with chorizo....one rugrat ordered a plain quesadilla with guacamole. The beans, rice and veggies were standard fare but the chorizo was really good! Right amount of spice,fat,tenderness...yummy! Rugrat liked the cheesy quesadilla with the guac. Next time we will sit in!

I heard good things about Sal Y Limon and wanted to find a go-to authentic Mexican restaurant. Unfortunately, I ordered a Torta and it completely didn't meet my expectations-- the amount of filling inside was disappointing and the taste was overly like mayonnaise/slaw. I expected it to be filled similarly as the burritos I had seen. In addition, the sandwich itself was very small for $12. Service took about 15mins to wait for my to-go order with 3 other diners in the store. I will give another chance to try a different menu item next time and hope it is worth it.

Love this Mexican place on Kingsway! Great menu diversity offering a variety of meats including lamb and pork tongue plus in house cocktails and horchata. Their service was good, patient with taking orders and fast in bringing foods to your table. Food was yummy, and I can't believe it's my first time here. Fate has it that I've been missing out all these years whilst visiting next door for a Vietnamese banh mi - yes, I'd be returning for my future burritos, quesadillas and guacamole cravings. I enjoyed their lamb burrito and horchata - Juicy meat + tasty drink with authentic sauces at their condiment station = a good lunch combo :) Also, its interior was interestingly more funky than its strip mall neighbors and surprisingly spacious inside, with booths, square tables for twos & fours, and even a small play area for kids. Will definitely visit more often - this place is a convenient option for both dining in and take out.

Affordable and friendly service as usual. I haven't been here long time but surprised they didn't raise the price so much as compared with other Mexican restaurants. I tried super sal y Limon burrito which contains pulled pork, Chicken and chorizo. Very delicious and quite big portion. Highly recommend :)

Sal Y Limon is one of those places I cycle back to every few months. I typically get take out and the food is always delicious. My go to is the Taco Picnic Pack which comes with one protein, tortillas, rice, beans, salsa, and a container of onions and cilantro. I've tried the chicken and the steak. Both are always tender and flavorful. Salsa is made in house and fresh. The rice and beans are addictive. For $32 you can't go wrong! It says it feeds 2-3 people, but I tend to overeat with the food here so I'd say it's perfect for 2 people. It's hard to stop when food is so good. With the many times I've spoken with staff there even for take out, it's always been pleasant. Good vibes and reasonable prices.

*This is my second Yelp review of Sal Y Lemon* Due to Covid 19 and Moving Day, decided to go to Sal Y Lemon for take out dinner with my sister. Took three tries to get through on the phone and ordered the Al Pastor, Lamb, Deep fried fish, and Deep fried Shrimp tacos. Originally, I wanted the Pork belly and Beef tongue tacos but unfortunately, they were out of it - darn. My order number was given and pick up time. Got there a little early with my sister and saw a short line up - one door and line up to place an order and another door and line up to pick up and pay. We only had to wait for 2 to 3 minutes for our orders, that smelled heavenly in the car and made my mouth water . My sister, who is a Nurse, said she was able to get 50% one order as Sal Y Lemon is doing a promotional discount for Healthcare professionals. Thank you Sal Y Lemon for supporting our healthcare workers! Got home to devour my tacos and they were tasty as always. The only downside was that none of their spicy salsas were included, or fresh lime wedges, even though they were requested with the order. Can't wait to go back to Sal Y Lemon again, especially as a business they are efficient in the handling of Covid and support the Healthcare professionals!

I personally wasn't impressed by the food here (I'm probably just too spoiled by the Mexican / taqueria scene in San Francisco), but my friend loved his food here, so rounding up to a 4. The two of us came for dinner on a Friday evening around 6:30 pm and there was only a short line. First you order at the counter and then find a table. Most of the tables were full, but we shared a table with a man and his son until we saw another couple leave and snagged their spot. First thing you'll notice when looking at the menu...the food ain't cheap here. Each taco goes for either $2.80 or $3.15, more if you want cheese or guacamole. Yelp recommended their fish taco, so I went with that and the lengua / beef tongue, both of which were $3.15. I don't like the white sauce they put on fish tacos, so I asked for them to remove it. My friend went with a super vegetariana torta ($9.50 + $2.25 for guacamole). When the tacos came, I was disappointed. The tacos aren't that big, first of all, maybe just 3-4 inches in diameter. The fish in the fish taco was TINY and didn't fill up the whole tortilla. Maybe because it's usually covered with sauce, it's less noticeable, but it was the first thing I observed when I got my food. The fish itself wasn't particularly good either. There was no satisfying crunch as I bit into it. At least the lengua / beef tongue was good. I'd recommend that. My friend really enjoyed his torta though. Maybe that's the thing to get here. Who knows? My favorite part of the whole meal was the frozen margarita. We got a large cup and it was mixed just right! The parking lot for the plaza where the restaurant is located is TINY. Luckily we managed to snag the last spot in the lot; otherwise I'm not sure where to find parking around the area.

Best bang for your buck. You can't say no to $3 tacos. Some of the flavours are hit and miss. Favourites are: Al Pastor and Barbacoa De Cordero. Don't skip out on the homemade coconut horchata!

Seriously good Mexican place in the middle of the city. Gives Tacofino some serious competition. Parking is available on 16th (1h during business hours), as well as the strip mall lot which is way too small. The inside is quite spacious. Looks like they have the majority of the plaza. Plenty of seating. Interior is quite plain, with the exception of some rather funky Day Of The Dead themed artwork on the walls. Staff were very friendly. Food here is quite delicious. A wee bit pricey, but the quality is there. The lamb burrito I had was filled with plenty of rice and other goodies. There are some 10 hot sauces available, ranked by spiciness level. Something for everyone. Definitely have to come back for the tacos at a later date. Those looked super good too. Recommended.

Taco feast for 4, ordered the chicken and beef. People couldn't wait to eat, a little was removed prior to photo being taken!

Tried the taco feast for 4 recently and it was an easy fun meal for myself and friends that came over last minute. However they spice and cook their meat and beans keeps bringing me back! Everyone loved it! I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because the portions seem a bit small for the price (inflation maybe?), hot sauce and limes were missing, and for having to wait in the cold at pick up window 10 more minutes than time given for pick up. Next time I'm feeding 4 adults I'll dress warmer for that take out window and I'll probably order individual burritos... they are always a crowd pleaser and require no personal prep or clean up.

Sat us down, took our orders and brought us our food then quickly brought the bill so they could change tables over. The Margarita here was excellent. Definitely felt like a strong boozey drink. Well done! Tried their Chilaquiles - not sure what I was expecting but this was more nachos than anything else. Definitely not the best in the city either. Maiz De Cole - strangely the best option that I selected. The chilli, lamb, cilantro just went so well. Great light option if you need one. Definitely not better than a good Mexican street corn though. Birria Taco - wanted to like this but didn't leave much to be desired. Large portions of protein Ordered the extra Birria as my date also wanted this. Looking back, should have stuck with the single order. It was way too much birria protein which after a few bites became overly dry and lacked flavour. Carnitas Tacos - come in a order of 2. Better option for smaller appetites. Overall, felt a bit steep in price. Their website online doesn't even post prices yet.

Our server was attentive and around when we needed something but never interrupting, and his recommendations ended up being some of our favourite dishes. The anchovy olives were a standout, super crispy, packed with flavour, and not overly fishy at all (great if you're a bit hesitant about anchovies). The mushroom toast was rich, savoury, and full of umami. Just a heads up not to let it sit too long since it softens the bread. The tuna tartare was fresh and well-balanced. Not my personal favourite served on toast, but still really enjoyable overall. The paella was excellent, perfectly cooked shrimp, tclams, and crispy pork belly chicharrón that added the best salty, fatty crunch. The roasted cabbage completely surprised me and was easily one of the best veggie dishes I've had in a while. I could have eaten a whole plate of it. We wrapped things up with churros and shared a pitcher of sangria. For three people, it came out to about $68 each before tip, which felt very fair for how much we ordered. Would definitely recommend.

As well, the manchego was so tiny it was like a shaving . The bone marrow amounted to about three teaspoons of marrow. We were so sad and dissatisfied. The patatas bravas was okay. Unfortunately we do not have a reason to return.
