This location, you walk to the front and order at the till, they'll pass you a number and bring it to your table. It's a chill, relaxed vibe. It wasn't very busy. You can help yourself to water, and there's cutlery and napkins at your table. You're offered mild or hot sauce when you place your order. We were just there for a quick in and out. I would add that this isn't accessible from what I can see if you're walking along fourth without having to walk downstairs so I'm not sure how it is wheelchair or stroller friendly. for a fun, fast and casual taco and burrito bar, this tacofino is my go to place! I can go anytime and get a great meal, with minimal waiting. I prefer tacos as they are lighter, and love their super thin, slightly charred tortillas. all the different fillings are tasty, but my faves are the soy marinated steak and the baja fish. I've had their burritos before from their food truck, and they are also very tasty and very filling. I appreciate the complimentary still or sparkling water, clean interior design and efficient service. there's happy hour and daily specials too. things to improve... they cut their lime wedges too small, so it's hard to squeeze the juice out of them to enhance my tacos. please cut them larger! the crispy chicken and sometimes the fish seem to have more batter than meat, so that ratio needs improvement, to taste the actual protein instead of just crispy batter. the carnitas need to be fully shredded and moistened more, to make them more appealing (like la taqueria's). read more

First time visiting the Kits location and we really enjoyed the food. Got the happy hour sangrias, fish tacos and crispy chicken taco. We really wanted the al pastor but by 1pm they were already all sold out. The cashier made a mistake on our bill but were quick to correct it and was so kind, and said it was a learning opportunity for her which I highly appreciated. Wow, are their tacos ever so delicious, filling and pretty. Almost all of them are perfectly balanced with different textures and flavour profiles. When it comes to the Carnitas, it's tender pork paired with pickled red onions to give it a zing. The crispy chicken tacos, have this black garlic aïoli that is out of this world; it's umami to a tee. They're battered fish tacos. Have a great salsa Fresca on top, but it does make the tacos, that ideally should be super crispy, a bit soggy unfortunately. I'm a bit surprised that this place has below a 4-star average. I thought it was awesome! We tried several of their tacos and each one was good (we didn't all agree on the order of preference). I think the four we tried were the Crispy Chicken, Pacific Cod, Soft and Crunchy Barbacoa, and Tuna. We really liked all of them, but I think I didn't like the chicken as well as the others. I recommend giving everything a try! They have wings during happy hour where you get something like a pound of wings for a decent price. My kid got those. This is of a few Tacofino locations. I like that the different locations all have slightly different menus so you can try different things at each location. It's tacos and burritos, but thats about where the Mexican influence ends; it's West Coast flavours wrapped up in a tortilla. You order and pay at the counter here, but the staff will bring your food out and even bus your table for you. Everyone here was friendly and very diligent about cleaning up after customers left. I got the crispy tofu bowl and a piña colada. The bowl was very tasty: big flavour, good pairing of textures with the soft tofu and eggplant with crispy cabbage and cauliflower. Hot sauce on the side is optional - I said yes to this and they brought out 2 kinds. Both were good on their own but I preferred the green with these flavours. Although the bowl already has jalapeños, the hot sauce was essential for me in tying this together. There was no rice or any grain/carb and I kind of felt like it was missing something because of that - both in the composition sense and nutritional sense. Obviously getting this in burrito form solves that, but if ordering as a bowl, you might want to get chips or something on the side. The other burritos/bowls do contain rice, it's just this one that is without. The piña colada was not a thick slush like I expected, but more like a shaken drink. Very good, though. The coconut foam topping was fun. It was a little expensive for the size considering the amount of it that was ice. Tacofino Crispy chicken burrito My friend told me this was the best burrito she ever had before going vegan so I had to try it. I have to admit I bit into it with high expectations though so my opinion might be a bit skewed. For the lovely price of $17 you get a pretty packed burrito. They were so generous with the chicken. This small beast was feeding me for hours. I loved how crispy the chicken is, it stays true to its name. It was somehow still crispy even after the hour that I got it. The burrito was not soggy at all and was hugged by the tortilla so tightly, the chef must have an insane grip. I have to say it doesn't taste like your classic burrito at all (I'm talking the rice, beans, and cheese). I think I'd recommend trying it for how crispy and flavourful the chicken. It wasn't the most amazing burrito I've ever had but it'll definitely do the trick if you're hungry. This location also has pretty cool vibes. Had a fantastic meal at the Tacofino in Kitsilano. They're open 11:30am-9:00pm and I stopped by for a late lunch with a friend. Opted to dine in, got a number and was served very quickly. Water is self serve. Ordered the chips and guacamole ($9) and really enjoyed crispy chips. I got the albacore tuna taco ($7.50) and enjoyed the soy glaze, wasabi mayo, wakame, pickled ginger, and nori. I also got the classic pacific cod taco ($6.50). With chipotle mayo, salsa fresca, cabbage, this taco is probably my favorite consistently across all tacofino locations. Enjoyed both tacos with the hot sauces. Yum! read more

Been waiting to try this place as I'm new to the city. Tip 1: don't attempt at eating the tacos in the car. Requires a very high taco skill that apparently I do not have. Tacos were tasty. Just a few steps from my place but it took a while for me to try this new edition I was a regular at the truck down on Burrard back in the day. Sadly the 'corporate disease' is evident everywhere-they've stripped the old restaurant down to a bare concrete basement complete with a half finished job on the flooring maybe they ran out of money to pay the contractors. Seating is kindergarten sized cheapo metal stools and little else-warm & welcoming it ain't. The food? Well it's not much seems like the kitchen has been told that flavour is Out and blandness is In-from the bare chopped Cabbage to the anaemic 'Salsa' that tastes of nothing but cheap Tomatoes and....nothing else- plus they forgot the salt. The fish in the 'Fish Taco' was ancient & rank tasting but it is the dead of winter few boats are out on the North Pacific after fall-the batter was fair fare. Whatever you do don't look to the plastic bottles of 'Salsa' strewn about the place for flavour relief both the Red & the Green taste of nothing at all apart from miniscule amounts of dried hot Pepper. Staff try hard but as some point they're going to realise it's wasted effort anyone returning to the place has self worth issues. read more

Overall great experience at this Tacofino location. Portions are huge, staff and service is good. Taste of the tacos were great, especially the Nachos. Usually the nacho's are cold at the other locations but it was nice to have it still warm. Ordered the fish and al pastor taco and it did not disappoint. I also do recommend for those who like ginger, to order the tuna taco (tastes just like tuna tataki). One thing I would suggest to improve is the vibe/environment of restaurant but I also do understand this may be difficult with covid regulations. read more

Finally Tacofino near to my home! I've been waiting patiently for them to come to Kits for years. It has arrived. Not the largest location but we had no problem getting a table for two on this Tuesday evening. At this location you order your food at the counter, drinks also. Not the worst thing really, and I can see coming back for takeout soon. Our margarita's arrived at the table quickly, followed by the taco's. The fish tacos were huge and the cod was fresh and crispy. One taco was enough for me, but my boyfriend also had the potato and cheese taco ( comes in a corn tortilla old school style like your mom's El Paso shells from back in the day...but way tastier, just get it you'll see). We enjoyed the classic lime and blood orange margarita's. The one glitch to the meal was our order of Ensalada never arrived as they had run out of an ingredient. However, the manager kindly came over to our table and graciously offered us an alternative....of a shot of tequila if we pleased or another margarita. The bean and cheese burrito seems like it has too much going on but it's delicious (definitely not your stereotypical bean and cheese, might even benefit from more beans and cheese) and has this subtle kick that adds to it. This taco place has single handedly changed my perception of what it means to have good nachos. The nachos are not even the traditional nachos you think of but yet they've made it even better. The first 15 minutes of my meal were spent in a mixture of silence and compliments about how this is the best food we've ever eaten. To be honest, I spent a portion of my meal wondering if the other patrons were having the same out of body experience I was having. Don't really understand why this place is rated so low because the food is so good! I've been to two other Tacofino locations, one of which was a hit (Commissary) and the other a flop (Ocho). This was definitely another win, and I will definitely be back since this is the closest location to where I live. Crispy Tofu Burrito (5/5) I got this as a bowl and I added guac for $2. The extra guac I got was definitely not worth $2 and the entire bowl was definitely on the small side. I would like to see bigger portions for the price paid, but the flavour is there. The guac was getting a bit brown, but it still tasted decent. However, I would expect fresher ingredients considering that this is a more high end taco chain. The crispy tofu was tasty, but could use less batter. The eggplant and cauliflower tasted amazing, and I have absolutely no complaints. The bowl doesn't come with rice, which I personally prefer, so it's basically a salad. There's a kale slaw, which doesn't actually have much kale and is mostly cabbage. It also comes with jalepenos and cilantro, which I omitted. The lemongrass mayo was super creamy, but I didn't like the flavour since I dislike lemongrass. The flavour was subtle and it was mildly sweet, but I just didn't really like the lemony, herby taste of the mayo. Beef Barbacoa Taco (4/5) I got this for my brother, who said it was pretty good. I had tried tacos from the Tacofino truck downtown and loved them! Yesterday we ordered the following items through Doordash: Pacific Cod taco, albacore tuna taco, beef barbacoa burrito, along with a side of their guacamole and one of their Diablo cookies. Oh, and we also ordered a tortilla soup, which did not get delivered. (In this case, I'm guessing the soup was in a smaller, different bag, and the Doordash driver did not pick it up with the other bag. We called and they are (apparently) going to credit us for the soup.) The fish taco was delicious...right amount of a light batter, and the cod was melt-in- your-mouth perfection. This taco was topped with chipotle mayo, salsa fresca, and cabbage...so crunchy and yummy! The albacore tuna taco was just as delicious. It was topped with a soy glaze, wasabi mayo, wakame, pickled ginger, and nori. Mmmmm-mmmm! Both tacos came with a slice of lime, which I appreciated. My partner really enjoyed his beef barbacoa burrito, with cheese, (I tried a bite and really liked it as well.) The beef was tender and flavourful. The Diablo cookie was a little too spicy for my liking (but I ate most of it anyway). The side order of guacamole was a good-sized portion, and also tasted fresh and delicious. We found the prices to be reasonable, based on the fact that restaurants have to make a profit to stay in business, especially in these pandemic times. Absolutely appalling customer service. My family and I drove 50 minutes to stop at the West 4th location for a few burritos to go. Once we arrive home, we noticed instead of burritos we received tacos (mistakes happen, we just wanted to make sure we weren't charged for the burritos). I give them a call and was re-directed to the man who took our order. Right off the bat he seemed annoyed we were even calling. He was able to confirm we only paid for the tacos (great) but with zero regard to the mix up. I said it was unfortunate considering my mom clearly said burritos, but due to the masks/plexiglass he misunderstood. He immediately got defensive and rude, even though my tone remained peaceful and understanding. His response was "things happen". My intention calling was not to receive anything, but purely to ensure we weren't over charged. At the end of our very awkward interaction, I asked if he was apologetic for the mix-up in which he responded "no". It's unfortunate that my once positive impression of this business has now been tainted by a single employee.
