We came here on a Sunday afternoon for an early dinner. There was only one other party seated though another one came when we were close to leaving. I hope it gets more busy more often because we really enjoyed our meals. We had the: Chile Relleno Chicken Enchiladas with green salsa Beef Enchiladas with mole Horchata Mexican Flan Churro bites with ice cream We would recommend them all and recommend sharing them with others, so you get to taste the different flavours, especially the mole! The dishes were beautifully served, and the rice and beans came separately before hand which you can eat alone or mix in with your saucy dish. Service was really friendly, the space was beautiful. Yes, the portion feels slightly smaller than what I have eaten at other Mexican restaurants and feel they could maybe serve a bit more beans and rice but we still thoroughly enjoyed our meal. read more

We had a chicken burrito ($19.50) and tamale plate ($20). The food tasted good, but we felt that the prices are about 25% too high considering the small portion sizes. You can go to Chipotle just up the hill, and get a chicken burrito for $13 - it's the same quality food, but the burrito is much larger, and $7 cheaper... Or you could go to one of the many shawarma or donair shops in the area, and get a donair for $15 that has more meat and filling (that's $5 cheaper!). The tamale plats for $20 was a joke. It came with a *single* tamale (no meat), and about 1/2 cup of rice and 1/2 cup if beans. I could maybe see this being worth it if prices at $13, but honestly for INE tamale, this is brutally overpriced. When you enter this place, there are no customers inside, and it's almost certainly because the food is not worth the prices they are charging. They need to reduce their prices by 25% to bring prices in line with other restaurants in the area. read more

Solid Mexican place in Kitsilano. Parking is available on the side streets. The place is nice and festive. As a nice touch, the TV was showing the movie Coco. Staff were friendly. Service with a smile. There is quite a bit of variety available in the menu, which is nice. I had their pork enchiladas. Comes with 3 in total, with rice and refried beans, and a couple of nacho chips. They have 3 sauces available (mild red, hot green, mole). I tried the green and mole. Both sauces are pretty good I must say. The mole isn't spicy. The dish was quite tasty. Portion size is decent but not big. Definitely wouldn't mind coming back. Recommended. read more

This authentic Mexican spot has a fairly large menu with chilaquiles, tamales, chille relleno, tacos, enchiladas, etc. For the drinks, they have a house-made horchata, happy hour specials every day, are licensed and carry some less common Mexian pops like apple soda and sangria soda. For the enchiladas, there is a mole option plus the usual green or red sauces. The mole is quite sweet. Portions are not huge but adequate. It's a good option for take out in the Kits/Point Grey area. Decor is very bright, colourful and a bit funky with a one-eyed cactus mural. Food has nice presentation. if you like Mexican fare...Sazon is a cozy little 4th Ave westside cafe which pleasantly surprised us with impressively elevated and nuanced Mexican at neighbourhood fare prices. Traditional dishes with elevated edgy spin...We were impressed with the nicely nuanced heat even in the tamales and rice,....an unexpected pleasant surprise. Recommendation: try the 3 corn tortilla enchiladas plate with choice of 4 fillings and choose your 3 of the 4,....plus the sauce choices include fabulous mole sauce! I am loving this Mexican place. It taste more authentic than other more mainstream places around town too! The Huevos rancheros is filling and I was sleepy after finishing it. The eggs were poached medium and I wouldn't even mind it if it were a bit runnier, but that could be because it had to be delivered to me. The salsa or sauce on the eggs were more sour than I'm used to seeing, but I love that. The beans were creamy and the rice was satisfying. read more

I just ordered chicken enchiladas; literally a flour tortilla with two tablespoons of shredded chicken and that's it that's what they call an enchiladas. $18.50 I also ordered a tamel ; cold, old and dry, could not eat $19.50. Great spot for authentic Mexican in a casual setting! Order at the counter, and a waiter will bring food to your table. They have a good amount of patio seating. They have all the Mexican dishes you would expect including some less mainstream ones, sandwiches, and full range of coffee. I had their Veggie Tamal, Flan, and Mexican Mocha. I was really excited to see that they have tamales as this is one of my favourite Mexican dishes and it's not too common in Mexican restaurants in Van or where I grew up, and it totally lived up to my expectations! Perfect texture in both the wrapper and filling and very generous with the topping of salsa, sour cream, cheese, and more veggies. They can leave off the cheese/sour cream to make it vegan. The plating of the whole dish was also very appealing! I haven't had a lot of flan so I can't say how theirs compares to the standard, but I really enjoyed it. I thought the caramel topping was a little weak in flavour, but the richness of the flan itself made up for it. The Mexican mocha was decent as just a mocha, but I would never have guessed that it was supposed to be Mexican as there was no hint of spice besides the dusting of cinnamon on top. The espresso taste was present but also not very strong. I enjoyed the beverage, it just wasn't what I was expecting. With both the flan and the mocha, I was disappointed that they were served in to-go packaging. Since my entree was properly plated for here, they obviously have the means to wash dishes, so I wish they could have served the flan on a plate and coffee in ceramic to reduce waste. Service is friendly and accommodating, and the prices all around are very good! They have the same menu for lunch and dinner with prices on most of the entrees slightly higher for dinner (I assume they give you a bigger portion?), but either way the prices are lower than what a similar meal at a proper sit-down restaurant usually costs, and the quality and presentation is just as good! read more

We just noticed this little restaurant as we drove by the other day. I checked out the reviews and it looked worth trying! The owner was very friendly, she greeted us at the door and welcomed us in. She explained the menu and some of the newer menu items. At our request she also made a few suggestions. We tried the Chicken Enchiladas and the Pastor Enchiladas. Both were great!! The enchiladas arrived quickly, and they looked and tasted yummy! We noticed they made Empanadas on Thursday. We love empanadas so will check those out in a few days. Really nice surprise ! We didn't realize it was here at 4 th and Stephens , right across from Nexus hair salon and Synergy massage . Food was so good and portions just right ! Ordered veggie nachos, tortilla soup, enchiladas, el pastor burrito. All inedible. We ended up making freezer taquerios for lunch instead. Nachos had barely any cheese on them, maybe 20 black beans. Cold and they were from the cheapest bagged tortilla chips avaible... for $9.... Tortilla soup came with no avocados, everything already mixed in and it was only 1/4 of a small container full!! For $7?! It was the best tasting of any of the items and a 2/5 max. Enchiladas 100% cold. Warmed them up in the microwave and took one bite. Nope, couldn't even choke down that bite. El pastor burrito was 1.5/5. It came cold and had to be heated up with all the sour cream and biggies inside - also wasn't supposed to have this inside. Last time we roll the dice on an unrated restaurant on door dash. Just do yourself a favor and if you really want Mexican do Taco Bell instead. read more

Ordered delivery on Skip the Dishes, first issue issue was no silverware, difficult to eat when in a park. The breakfast burrito was quite small for the price and didn't have any bacon (like mentioned) and was bland in general. The enchiladas and chilaquiles were okay. Third star is purely for the salsa, wow! The best in Vancouver and has an actual spice to it. Definitely will try again, but overall just another okay Mexican place in Vancouver, still trying to find the good one. read more

This place sold me a 250ml of their fresh salsa. I'm a gringo, come on, warn us about the spice/heat of your salsa. I did not expect AT ALL the spice that came from this mexican cafe's salsa!! It was ridiculous. Like deadly to gringo's. No joke. They need to warn people of the level of spice their salsa is & has. Apparently there is only 1 salsa that they sell, which to me again is ridiculous. Most places I've been to that sell fresh salsa have levels of spice. What a fabulous little addition to Kitsilano. As Vancouverites are aware, we have many excellent types of food...but good Mexican is hard to find. Usually, it's either the "Americanized" variety, or a hipster joint that makes great food but isn't exactly authentic. This place is a mom and pop shop (VERY nice people), and the menu is filled with all the genuine dishes that Mexican lovers want. They offer daily specials, and the menu is very reasonable. My husband and I have ordered from them a few times (curbside pickup, with good social distancing practices!) and the food is fantastic. It tastes exactly like what you want good Mexican to be....home cooked, full of flavour, and great value. You won't take your next curated Instagram photo here, but that isn't the point...and that's what makes it great. Ignore the previous one star troll that commented on this place. Not worth your money. The service is bad, the food even worse and the servings too small for the price. In short, don't eat here. We ordered takeout tonight and they said it would be ready in fifteen minutes. Got there past 15 minutes and our order was not ready. We are just 5 minutes away but when we tried our food, it was already cold. Worse, the food was extremely bad. The enchiladas did not have enough sauce and the chicken was very dry. The refried beans looked like it came out of a can. Not worth $15. The tacos were super tiny, about two inches. We said no cilantro and sure enough, there was cilantro. Never again, Sazon! read more

Tacos are delicious. Full of flavour especially the barbacoa. Quesadillas are great too. They need to give more salsa for dipping. The tiny plastic cup is so small and feels a bit cheap. A cute ceramic dish would add to the experience. I had a margarita and it was perfect!! The waitress is very friendly and the ambiance feels authentic. We live close by and since not many places are open during this pandemic we thought to check it out. I had the combo with meatballs, rice and bean soup, my partner ordered a side of guacamole to go along with her dish. We were both extremely disappointed, one of the worst restaurant meals either of us had in a long time. The meat balls were rubbery, the sauce out of a jar, the bean soup beyond bland (I only ate about half). Usually I can't get enough guacamole, we didn't even finish it (usually I will devour it). If they are cutting corners to try to stay alive in Vancouver's brutal RE situation, i.e., triple net leases, then it is a grave mistake. We will never go back and I will tell all my friends to avoid this place... read more

My favourite Mexican food in Vancouver and reasonably priced. The fiesta salad with pulled chicken and the tamale plate are my favourite dishes. The guac, which is excellent as a starter, also makes a fine addition to the salad. The flan and the Mexican hot chocolate are very tasty too. The menu isn't extensive, but all the dishes they prepare are worth trying. read more
