Here's the deal . I Always wanted to try this restaurant! The place itself has rooms for parties and a bar area in the back which is convenient if you are waiting for a table to open up or perhaps even stop in for a drink. The main dining room itself is great for couples or parties and does whatever possible to help with special menu requests for adults or kids! The service was very nice ! Server was so polite and attentive! Unfortunately the food was just a "Eh". The calamari app was all breading. The Capellini w/ shrimp was heavy on the OVOO. And shrimp was rubbery. The veal special over risotto was a large portion ($44.00)!! But it had no flavor. I was also surprised they charged $3.00 each for 2 seltzers ! I can see if you change for a "soda" 1 time, But to charge again on the refill was odd. Perhaps I just went on a tough night. read more

I used to go to the place all the time. And it was fantastic. Then it changed owners a few years ago. The food quality went down considerably, but I figured it might just be growing pains of new ownership. I stayed away to give them time and forgot about them for a while. I went back last week. Stuffed long hot peppers: gross. Tasted like it was cooked earlier and then heated in the microwave prior to serving. Over cheese-d, ridiculously hot (temperature) and kind of bland. But it was edible. And it wound up being the only thing edible. My wife had a squid ink ravioli from the specials menu. The stuffing tasted bland, the ravioli was mushy, the white cream sauce was greasy and the stuffing tasted like it would be rancid any minute. I ordered an all time favorite of mine that used to be fantastic.... Zuppa di pesce. The calamari was actually grey. It should be white. I won't mention how chewy they were. The shrimp were overcooked and mealy. I was scared to eat a clam or a mussel. There was absolutely no flavor to the sauce. The only edible aspect was the lobster tail which was mediocre at best. Didn't bother with dessert. This place has always looked a bit outdated. It was part of the charm...an Italian restaurant from the 80s or 90s. But the food used to make up for the outdated look. Where to begin? Ill start with the lecherous, foul-mouthed waiter who spoke to my 10 yr old daughter with complete unprofessionalism bordering on pedophilia. He needs to be fired ASAP (hint: the older guy who has prob been working there forever and knows someone in the family). Not only did he curse at her while he was telling her how beautiful she was, he proceeded to put his hand on one of the waitress's butts as she passed by at another point in the meal. My girlfriend and I decided to have dinner before going to an event. We were looking for a local restaurant that would seat us quickly in the direction we were traveling. Being the holiday season, we were happy to find a place with a seating in 15 minutes. We booked the table on OpenTable. We got to the restaurant and were greeted and seated immediately. I noticed there were plenty of empty tables in the main dining room. There was no need to book on OpenTable. The tables that were occupied had both families and couples at them. The décor of the establishment is dated and, in my opinion, is in need of a significant refresh. Our waitress was an older blond-haired woman. She greeted us after a bit of a wait. She took our drink order and I noticed she was acting dazed and frazzled. She did not offer any specials (which we later found out there were from an adjacent table) and took our orders. We then waited 20 plus minutes (drinks arrived promptly). An Asian waiter stopped by our table to ask if we were okay, and we mentioned the time we were sitting and no food. He got a look on his face and rushed to the kitchen and our salads immediately appeared with an apology from him and an offer for a free desert course (much appreciated). The waitress, then came by and said she had forgotten the salads and dinner was on its way. Another 20 or so minutes passed, and dinner finally appeared. It seemed our dishes were rushed and thrown together. I'm guessing the salads were not the only thing that was forgotten in the order. To say the food was marginal at best, is being honest. While not terrible, both dishes were bland, forgettable, and mostly tasteless. The highlight of the meal, if there was one, were the free desserts. We both agreed the meal and the trip to this restaurant was not worth the trouble. If that was the only issue, I would have chalked it up to an off night, but what followed was truly surprising and dishonest if not criminal. Days later, (we visited on the 17th of Dec.) at 12AM on the 22nd I was charged exactly, $100.00 for the dinner (image attached). I found the charge posted on my account the next morning when I awoke. I became suspicious as we were at the restaurant several days before and the amount seemed very strange. After finding the original printed receipt, I saw that the amount charged was off by $11.10. I asked my girlfriend to contact the restaurant and I notified CapitalOne of the fraudulent charge. The bank opened an investigation and refund the $11.10. The restaurant said they would investigate the issue and my girlfriend reported that they sounded surprised/annoyed when they were told CapitalOne had already been notified of the issue. The person on the phone took my contact information. A few days after the call, I received a badly worded text message from someone at the restaurant (image attached) apologizing and wishing me a happy holiday. I also received a letter from CapitalOne stating the issue had been resolved in my favor (image attached). In my opinion, this was not a mistake or oversight. It was a blatant action to over charge for the meal. The fact that the owner could not take the time to call and had a nameless person send a text message speaks volumes as to the type of business people they are. I can only assume that they were not expecting someone to find/notice, let alone, take the time to challenge a $11.10 overage. Patrons beware and keep your receipts. PS. Please forgive the amount of time it has taken to post this review. I have recalled to the best of my knowledge the series of events. read more

Came here for a family dinner after the holidays and we were not disappointed. The size of the restaurant itself is fairly large, but the dining room we were in was still full (we made reservations just in case, but you might not need them if they open the other rooms for dinner). We had the pianist in our room which made the atmosphere fun, I appreciate that she didn't play too loud - we could still hear each other just fine and didn't have to yell like at some other places I've been to. We shared the hot appetizer - a little bit of everything for everyone. It says serves 2, but it easily fed 5 of us so don't worry about ordering extra. I had the angel hair pasta with shrimp and arugula for dinner and it was delicious! The greens were fresh, the shrimp weren't overcooked, and the tomatoes and garlic packed a nice flavor punch without being overwhelming. It's been a while since I've been so excited about a pasta dish and I'd happily order this again anytime. We all got lemon sorbet for dessert - it was served in the lemon rind which was a cute presentation. It tasted good - very light but still lemon-y enough to taste the fruit. It was the perfect way to end the meal. Overall I enjoyed my experience at La Strada and would definitely go back again! read more

After dining, we presented a $200.00 La Strada gift certificate with a credit card for the $220,00 balance. Our waiter returned to the table and apologetically told us the owner refused to accept the gift certificate as it was issued several years ago under the former owner. Although our certificate had no expiration date and the restaurant retained the name, La Strada, the owner refused it. We requested to speak to the owner & was denied. When the prior owner sold the business, his liabilities were likely listed, with outstanding gift certificates included. Based upon our experience this weekend, we won't be back, despite many years patronage. read more

We came here once before and had a decent time so we decided to come back for my wife's birthday. She's born on Valentine's so yes we expected it to be busy but I didn't expect to be treated like garbage. I'm allergic to shellfish. This place has a lot of shellfish on the menu. I didn't mention my allergy but I ordered the chicken parm and my wife got penne Vodka so I didn't feel I needed to mention it. Well the waitress made a mistake and accidentally grabbed shrimp parm for me and because the shrimp was breaded and covered in cheese I didn't even notice until a couple bites in. I didn't realize it was shrimp at first but I knew it was fish so I immediately let our waitress know and asked her to find out what kind of fish it was. She just came back with my chicken and goes "here's your chicken" and walked away. One of the bus boys stopped by our table and finally found out for me that it was shrimp that I ate so I immediately started panicking. The bus boy told the waitress again about my allergy and her response was "yeah I made a mistake but she has chicken now right?" And she walked away again. Granted she did get me some water. Then the owner came over and asked "everything okay over here?" And I said "well..." and he said "great" and walked away before I could finish my sentence. At this point other customers are staring at our table and watching us be completely dismissed. I got up to go to the bathroom to splash some cold water on my face because I could feel it getting hot and the hives starting and I asked the waitress to just wrap up our food and bring the check. While I was gone the owner came back and asked my wife if I always eat like a bird. My wife replied that I'm possibly having am allergic reaction because I was brought the wrong food. So the owner said "well she has the chicken now right? Back in my day we used to eat everything. You kids are so picky now!" So of course that didn't sit well with my wife. We just got our boxes and paid the bill and left. And yes we were charged for everything. And yes I left a generous tip because to be honest I wanted to get out so badly I didn't want to wait for change. So all in all if you want okay food, outdated decor, and shitty service then La Strada is the place. However I don't recommend if you're a person with food restrictions. read more

We thought this would be a special Italian dinner our anniversary. It was not and we wished we had gone somewhere else almost immediately. No greeting, no special attention to detail. The place seems outdated. There was only one waitstaff working that day. And although we made reservations and told the person we were here for a special occasion, it basically was ignored. There was plenty of seating but he sat us in the middle of the fray. Seemed to me because it was closer and easier for him to service. The food was average. We ordered take out and picked it up. We ordered the arincini and it was terrible. Had like a pizza place sauce and was flavorless and mushy. Stuffed mushrooms were also not good at all. Kids had spaghetti and meatballs and it was very basic. The chicken giambotta was good but needs like a rice or something to carry the sauce. Overall extremely underwhelmed for our first time. We went here for friday dinner. We were seated instantly, then waited 10 minutes for a menu, i decided to ask for one at that time, and had to wait another 5 minutes to get a menu. Would not mind waiting IF staff would run arround with million customers, but they were just walking arround empty tables doing nothing. After we finally got a menus, everything changed - our order was accepted really fast, and that person was very nice. So nice that started asking if everything is fine every 2-3minutes. After 3rd time i found that super anoying. But, probably, thats his job... Food was really good, delicious. But servings were sooo small i left the place still being hungry. I came here a few weeks ago for a party and was so impressed with the food here that I can't give it anything lower than a 5! I wish I had the opportunity to try some of the other things on the menu, but I was quite pleased with everything I had. I had the stuffed mushrooms (filled with crab) for starters and followed this up by what seemed to be the most delicious chicken I have ever had (seriously, delicious) with mashed potatoes and vegetables. I also was able to try a bite of the veal which was very tasty as well. Unfortunately I was just too full to try dessert, but I was still so happy with all of the food. The service was great, we had a very nice and informative waiter. As for having a party here, we had a private room in the back and it was really nice, fit about 50 people in there for a full sit down lunch. Great place to have a get together! read more

We had an amazing dinner last night for my dad's 80th birthday. We were a party of 9, immediately seated for our 6:30pm, Saturday night reservation. The bread and olives were very good as we're our cocktails. Only one appy was ordered. A yummy red pepper stuffed with short ribs. The flavors were excellent. Next, salads are included with all entrees. Basic garden salad with either a creamy vinaigrette or blue cheese dressing. Entrees ordered were salmon in cognac pink sauce, branzini special, sirloin steak, penne pasta , and two gluten free pastas. Everyone enjoyed their meals. For dessert, we split 3...tiramisu, creme brulee, and italian style German cheesecake. They served a complimentary fruit platter which was really appreciated because my father is diabetic. The outdoor dining area was absolutely empty but when I wanted a table different one from the one he suggested he just had the wrong attitude. Took forever for my dinner to arrive even though I was the only one there besides one other table with three men, who arrived after I did. Chicken Parm was bland. I have never had to add salt to chicken Parm better restaurants. Delizia pizza kitchen offers a tastier chicken Parm at half the price. The bread was spongy and tasteless. My wife and I went to La Strada last night to celebrate our 42 wedding anniversary. We realized there would be a limited menu and a less than festive atmosphere but figured at least the service would be prompt and courteous. BOY, WERE WE WRONG!!! There was ONE waiter with 3 or 4 busboys to handle 6 or 7 tables during our 90 minute dining experience for a total of about 20 diners. At least 3 of the tables appeared to be regulars, based on the amount of attention they received, compared to us. One busboy put the wine bucket on the opposite side of our table so I had to stand up to pour our wine, which we received about 15 minutes after the waiter left us the wine list. I have not been since pre Covid went again finally and it was terrible, slow service, chicken parm was gross rubbery and prior frozen with the chicken parm dinner came 4 cubes of potato 1 small piece of broccoli smaller then a soup spoon and a few pieces of carrots slices. Was coming here for generations with my family. La Strada was always our go-to for any birthday, memorial service, party, or anniversary. La Strada is UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP by a Japanese investor. The food and service has slid downhill so fast. My family is so upset. My family had dinner at La Strada on December 27 to celebrate my father's 95th birthday. After we made reservations, we did have a friend tell us that we might want to reconsider due to his personal experience there. I do not recall what the reasons were, but we decided not to change our plans. When we arrived, it was clear that they were short on wait staff however our waitress and other staff really pulled together and while service was slow, it was good and those who helped us were very polite. We were impressed that everyone was pitching and making it happen with a full dining room. On top of that, the food was outstanding! A few of us ordered a bottle of wine from the wine list that was presented to us. When the bottle arrived, it was not the bottle we ordered. Our waitress went to sort it out and came back saying that the wine we ordered is no longer available, but that this wine was the substitute. We asked if the price was the same as what we ordered. She went to go check and came back to tell us that yes, it was the same price. During the meal, we ordered a second bottle of the same wine. Up until the last 15 minutes of our experience, we were prepared to leave a 5 star review because everything was great and the staff teamwork was impressive. As we were settling the bill, our waitress informed us that we were only charged for one bottle of wine and that the second bottle (same wine) was left off by accident. Not a problem for us, but we wanted to be sure that we were charged the same amount for the second bottle since it was a "substitute" for what we ordered. That's when things when our enthusiasm came to a screeching halt. The manager came over to inform us that the wine we ordered was actually $20 more per bottle. We explained that we asked about that before we agreed to open the wine and were assured that it was an equal swap for what we originally ordered. (This was his first chance to make it right). He said that wasn't the case and the wine list we ordered from was an old wine list and no longer being used. (How is this our concern?... Second chance to make things right) Then he asked if we would split the difference! (What? Third chance to make things right) Lastly, he said that if we did not pay the extra $40, it would come out of our waitress' pay! (Now making it even worse!) This went on for at least 15 minutes while the rest of our family waited for us at home to finish our Dad's birthday celebration. This manager should have been congratulating his staff for pulling together to serve a full dining room not threatening our waitress with loss of income! He also should have OWNED the error instead of trying to pass it on to the customer and staff. In addition, we all know wine mark up is 200 to 300% of retail cost. Our food and service was amazing and the manager single handedly ruined our experience. Yes, we made sure the waitress was covered. read more

I spent my 43rd Birthday there this past summer. My husband had us all dress up and we had the BEST Italian meal. They had a live pianist. She played lovey. The waiters were great, very funny. I live only a mile away from La Strada, but shamefully had never been there up until last year!! My wife loves the place, goes there for social group dinners and ceremonies, but I never had interest. I had heard it was expensive, "stuffy" and that jackets were highly preferred. Just not my kind of place, to be honest. She talked me into it for our anniversary last summer, and I put on a suit and tie and "took one for the team." First of all, I was the best dressed customer in the place...so it's NOT accurate on the dress code portion. Many arrived in shorts and golf shirts, so that's good to know. The service is over the top...not hovering or annoying, but just appropriately attentive. Love when they come by and scrape the crumbs after the bread serving!! I just feel so important when they do that. The menu offers so many options, anyone would be pleased when placing their order in this establishment. The food is cooked to perfection, very flavorful, and the kitchen runs really strong timing on each course. The seafood is always fresh and properly spiced. Not sure if the desserts are prepared onsite or purchased from an external vendor, but they are always on the money. Valet parking is a nice and classy touch, but not my thing. I drove my sports car into the lot, and the attendant volunteered "I assume you'd like to park this yourself?" That was nice, as I truly did. I enjoyed a delicious dinner with my parents at La Strada and we had excellent service. They serve authentic Northern Italian cuisine with so many menu choices. All of the dishes we ordered at our table were off of the specials list that our server, Jill, read to us. There were so many specials for the night that it could have been the entire menu. We had the stuffed artichoke as an appetizer to share and it was perfect for three people. It was stuffed with cheese and sausage. This is my favorite thing that I tasted during the dinner. It reminded me of something my Italian grandma used to make! For my main meal I ordered the gnocchi served in a tomato/basil with chicken pieces mixed in with the pasta. It was very good but I have had better gnocchi. These were a bit too overcooked for my liking and the sauce was missing something. I think that it needed a bit more flavor but I still enjoyed the dish. I didn't order dessert but they had a long list of desserts including house made gelato! The risotto was dry and flavorless. My wife had a stomach ache several hours after eating dinner. They don't seem to provide the same level of quality for their take out service than their dine in service. Update 01/24/2020. To the owners response. Please except criticism without lying.
