Good service. Good food. Plenty of parking. Vibe seemed fun enough. Looking forward to trying their lunch specials.

Fried White Fish, delicious!

Delicious food & friendly service. Absolutely love the Fried Whitefish, Yellow Rice, Black Beans with the marinated onions and the olive butter...yum I have had their Cubans which are good and bean soup which is delish!! Can't wait to go back, next time I would like to try the Cuban Fusion Wrap!! Just wish they had table service and better ambiance but will definitely be back for the delicious grub!

I haven't ever tried this quaint lil restaurant before although I'm a huge Cuban food lover. I had time today and stopped in for lunch. The ambience was quiet with nice Latino music, not too loud and a nice touch. A popular lunch spot, plenty of customers dining in and carrying out. I enjoyed the picadilla and yellow rice and the only thing I can say is they use tomato sauce instead of traditional Cuban seasonings. It was different but tasty. The Cuban bread is a yummy side treat! Enjoyed my visit n it's nice to have them in Brandon.

The Taste of Ybor is now in South Hillsborough! To my surprise I was patronizing another shop in the Va Viva plaza and walked over to La Séptima Café! It was a nice refreshing surprise actually because there aren't a lot of cultural cafes in the area let alone a Cuban cultural one brought from Ybor City in Tampa. They have a nice menu from drinks and appetizers to full entres and dessert. On this visit I tried the Pressed Cuban Wrap and yuca fries with a tall glass of sangria! What a delicious lunch! The place isn't fancy but it does have the reminders of the Ybor flavor and feel. I'll definitely be back sometime to try other items on the menu.

La Septima Cafe is a solid go-to in Brandon for Spanish food in a (now) more casual, laid back setting. The pandemic has made an impact on the restaurant industry despite the best efforts of the Governor to keep things open and moving. It's quite evident here at La Septima Cafe. This once bustling, waiter service restaurant is a low-key counter service spot now. The food however, is still fantastic. My wife and I had been here once before during the pandemic. We got to-go food. We were craving Spanish food and didn't want to go to Ybor. We wanted something laid back and casual. The dining room was mostly empty. You walk-in and order at the counter. The young man behind the counter was friendly and explained the new system to us. We placed our order with him and took our number to our table. My wife ordered the Lechon Asado with yellow rice and beans and I ordered the Picadillo Con Papas Fritas with yellow rice and platanos maduros. I also had a bottled beer and my wife had a red sangria. We took a seat and were pretty surprised by the new setting. My wife says this place used to be packed in the evenings. This Saturday night, while we enjoyed the quiet dining experience, was empty. Our food was out pretty quick. The food is served on plastic plates and in styrofoam containers. Pre-packaged plasticware is provided. Simple. Things may have changed in appearance but the food was fantastic. My wife's lechon asado was plentiful and tasty. It came with additional mojo sauce. It was zesty, high quality meat, tender, juicy and just spot on. My wife highly enjoyed it and I was a bit envious. We both had the yellow rice as a side and it was flavorful as well. Rice can be hit or miss but this rice was a hit with me. Topped with the black beans, it was perfect. My Picadillo con Papas Fritas was excellent as well. It had bits of crunchy potatoes on top. A flavorful, rich ground beef in a tomato sauce with capers and olives. Excellent. I also had a side of platanos maduros that came out piping hot and fresh. They hit the spot. La Septima Cafe has changed but don't let that stop you from trying their delicious food. It was nice to enjoy a quiet, simple dinner with high quality, tasty food. Give them a try!

7th Avenue Salad

First time customer. Got take out. Called ahead. Order was ready when I arrived. Discount for paying cash Tried the 7th Ave Salad. Heard it was a knock off of Columbia's 1905. It was tasty and full of meat. The salad was hearty enough that I ate two meals off of it. Served with a side of Cuban bread. $13ish

But once checked in everything went well. We were a party of 13 after the Gasparilla Children's Parade. We were starving so no pictures. My husband had the Pork Chop Capricicosa, it was perfectly cooked and delicious. I had the the linguine carbonara, it was one of the best I've had, the pasta was crunchy cooked right, nice amount of pancetta, really top notch. We had 6 children with us, that had salmon, spaghetti and meatballs and the pizza. They all were teenager and preteen approved. The chicken parm and gnocchi bolognese were nice portions and the chicken was pounded thin and crispy with just the right amount of sauce and cheese. The bolognese was savory and a touch sweet. Truly the meals were wonderful. They are only beer and wine, and both are limited choices. We had the limoncello cake and chocolate mousse cake, they were just the right amount. The staff, our servers, and the customer service was on point. They were gracious and flexible with our orders. I highly recommend

I only ordered it because it was the special and my brain was over making decisions for the day. They have something special, and I don't think I've had a better scampi outside of Italy. It was that good. Our table also had the calamari, fried mozzarella, and lasagna. Everything was made to order and you can taste the quality and authenticity in every bite. The location was busy but the service was spot on. They had workers walking around, cleaning, and checking on guests. Even the manager was on the floor and very present. That speaks to their commitment to providing a solid dining experience. The decor did seem a little cluttered, but the speed to which we received our food had us in and out, so we weren't affected by the environment too much. Overall, I've found my new Italian spot in Riverview. I'll eventually go every day of the week to try all their specials. That's how lasting my first experience was.

Similarly, I don't love Italian food, but I also feel like a good dining experience near Sun City Center is sorely lacking. So my family and I were happy to try Mandola's! It has exceeded our expectations. I was able to get one of the best Caesar salads I have ever eaten. (Note, the chilled plate is a sign of a restaurant noticing the small things.) And the service is speedy, with the complimentary focaccia and oil hitting my table almost as soon as we were seated. ATTENTION: Don't be like me. The first time I visited, I was like, "I'm not paying 18%-20%-25% to grab drinks from a cooler, submit my own order, and grab my own utensils." But they really do bus the table, or grab anything you need from the dining/kitchen for you, if asked. Thanks for being clean, efficient, and most importantly, so friendly!

The lasagna was not on the menu, but it was featured as one of the specials. It was homemade and phenomenal. I think it's the best I've had. I've been to Italy and this place is on par with authentic Italian food. Not overly salted or masked with pungent fake ingredients. It was clearly fresh and homemade! This restaurant is only open on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 5-10pm. I have no idea how they make it. Now, the inside is super duper tiny. The second you walk in you almost run over the hostess stand. Then, there's maybe 10 tables inside. Up first they bring you free bread. The bread isn't homemade, and tastes like the same bread you can get at a thousand other Italian restaurants. I tried the $8.50 bruschetta. It is a monster portion. However, it's just regular bread with regular tomatoes on top. No special spices, no special ingredients. Very plain and boring. For my entree, I had half Linguine al Pesto and half Penne alla Rustica. Oooooof again. The linguine pesto was watery. I could barely even taste the pesto. It was like swallowing wet noodles plain. Maybe the worst pesto dish I've ever had, and I love pesto. The penne was better, but once again it didn't taste any different that one you'd order from Fazoli's. Overall, underwhelming. The pasta tastes straight out of a box from Publix. No cocktails here. The only positive is that portion sizes are huge. I think a half size is plenty for most people. Also, there is some good people watching if you can sit at a table in the window. I won't be back.
