Salad was brown and wilted, but the cashier insisted it was fresh and did nothing to resolve it. I've honestly had better food at a gas station. In continuing my Tampa Cuban sandwich tour the next up is Leah's. I was surprised to see other reviewers mention a cafeteria like setup for Leah's. You'd never know that when you are ordering online for delivery. The Cuban sandwich was massive and was easily one of the biggest ones I can remember getting recently from anywhere. It's very heavy on the pork, but that might actually be a positive for many people. It was pretty frustrating that the dessert I ordered that was only described as a "Guava Pastry" actually turned out to be a slice of cake where the frosting was covered in nuts. I'm extremely allergic to nuts so I paid for something I had to throw away. This was a solid Cuban sandwich though, and I would get it again. read more

What a FIND! Some of the BEST Cuban food I have ever enjoyed. The baked chicken fell off the bone and the skin had such a great flavor that I had to eat some even though that is something I rarely do. Then, let's talk about the pulled pork, OH MY! I watched them literally flake it off the huge pork tenderloin they must have baked with such care... AMAZING! The Cuban was so delicious and I'm usually pretty picky about my Cuban sandwiches (and very loyal to other places) and I was obsessed with the smoothie! The food is authentic and amazing. I got the Cuban Sandwich with everything on it . It is a big sandwich and for me I could only finish one half and more for later. My son got the combo plate of chicken and rice , the chicken was so tender that the bone just slides off. I'm Cuban and have lived here my entire life and I can tell you this is the worst Cuban food ever. The moros were several days old, dry, crunchy rice with little seasoning. The pulled pork was tender but that was the best part about it. And let me not even mention the dry yucca. This was not only days old yucca but the mojo tasted like oil. Leah's cafe is about as dank as it gets fo Cuban food in east Tampa. The place is a hole in the wall but the food is fricken delicious. Its never too busy and the price is right. Love this place! I work nearby and make it a point to eat here at least once a week! It's family owned, super fast (cafeteria style), and very friendly. Rotating choices of daily specials and a few standard choices that never change. The roast pork is always great and if they have it, their version of (Cuban?) Chicken Parm is wonderful! (It's actually fried chicken breast with mozzarella on top. It's surprisingly tender and lots of flavor!). It's a little pricier than the typical little Cuban/ Puerto Rican cafes you find in West Tampa, but I also think the quality is much better! I was in town for business and love Cuban food so I thought I would try this place. Huge mistake! This is a cafeteria line style restaurant. There is no menu. There is a small sandwich menu that is it. The hot food is in front of you and you just order it from the person behind the counter. They do not explain what the food is. If you order a sandwich you have to know to order toppings like mayo, mustard, lettuce and tomato they do not ask you. Apparently they assume you just know what they offer. It takes forever to get a sandwich. Which was prepared and then I saw it sit on the counter before anyone bothered to wrap it up. Black beans and rice was excellent. I can't speak for the rest of the food. The croquetta sandwich was ok, it was on the thinnest Cuban bread I've ever seen. The place was busy so people must love the food. There is plenty of seating. Now the service WAS TERRIBLE! The cashier could care less about anything you ask or taking your money. She was only interested in flirting with the firefighters in the restaurant. A lady behind me asked for bread and her response was "I don't have bread now I'd have to make it!" No kidding lady this is a restaurant at noon making food is the service you provide. The cashier was rude and could careless about the customers or helping a customer. You have to order the coffee from her and she seems disgusted to have to take your order. If you could give a darn about service I'm sure this place is great but they obviously don't want new customers because they aren't helpful. Meant a friend here for lunch and compared to the other locations in Tampa that you can get Cuban food I must say this place fell short the pulled pork was super greasy lacked flavor the rice was barely edible no sweet plan tames and the rest was sort of lackluster. The interior was in shambles yet perhaps to be expected at a Cuban style restaurant that being said sanitation and general concern for the customer was a little to be desired when we left at 12:30 there was a line out the door and with only one person taking care of all of their orders and ringing and the money where are all the employees? More importantly why are all these people here do they not know what good Cuban food should taste like?
