They offered a free inspection and recommendations based there on. I accepted their offer, which involved physical inspection in the entire crawl space and attic. I requested they accompany their findings with photos of the inspected areas. They were superb. In the end there were no findings that required any work. We'll see what happens when the rain comes, but it seems like they did a really professional and thorough job doing a major basement repair and waterproofing. Felix and his crew trenched and installed French drains, a sump pump, poured a slab and installed a retaining wall. It was a lot of work and it looks very solid and sound. They were kind and thoughtful and skilled. They were attentive to my questions and to details. Renato was helpful in explaining everything to me. The ground was harder than they anticipated so it took 3 weeks longer than they had told me. This was the only issue, maybe better planning or foresight into what the soil is like in my area. Definitely affected my ability to plan/leave town etc. But maybe it was just something no one could predict for. We got through it. A very costly job but their quote was competitive with others. We wanted a bid on a new driveway because our existing driveway was cracking following the pattern of street in front of our house. fantastic work done to solve our long ongoing lingering water problem. these folks were focused on solving and fixing the problem, going the extra mile and not cutting corners at any stage of this complicated job. Although subterranean water flow is partly an unknown at the start, and the project took some unexpected turns after some discoveries after excavation, but never were we charged or pushed into spending more money then we initially agreed on. Renato conducted a comprehensive assessment and drafted detailed proposals at different but competitive price points. We agreed upon waterproofing the foundation wall, installing a french drain, and reestablishing a new patio slab. From start to finish, Renato and team were professional, communicative, happy to answer questions, and receptive to feedback. This job required a substantial amount of effort and was inherently complicated due to inefficient access to the foundation wall, but the team adapted well. Seismic Construction Co. has been easy to work with every step of the process.  Everyone (Engineering (Renato), Billing, Tag as the primary contact for scheduling, and individuals in the field) was knowledgeable about the process.  They have been responsive and friendly.  The explain every step.  They take pictures, provide opportunities to see what is happening before, during, and after.  They were respectful of property.  They also identified additional work needed, such as termite damaged joists and were able to repair those items under a separate order.  I got multiple bids.  Some provide a quote over the phone.  Others arrived less than fully prepared.  They charge an amount equal or almost equal to the grant and I guess they go for volume.  I chose L.A. Seismic because they arrived prepared, conducted a full inspection of the crawl space, and provided the most detailed quotation which gave me the confidence from the outset that they lived up to the star-rating.  It cost more than the grant amount, but I have confidence in the work completed.  Highly recommend. read more

We had LA Seismic replace a river rock perimeter foundation on our 100 year old home. The existing foundation was beginning to fail in some areas and you cannot do a brace and bolt retrofit for earthquake safety. Our home was basically resting on top of the foundation without any actual connection to it. It was replaced with a reinforced concrete perimeter foundation that is actually bolted to the framing of our home. No aspect of this project was particularly easy, but working with LA Seismic made it relatively painless. They were very responsive to questions at the beginning of the process and their proposal was clear, fair, and very competitive with pricing. Renato did the initial meeting and inspection and was always ready to speak to us about any questions we had throughout the process. The plans for the foundation and the end result meet or exceed code as required. The permitting and inspection process went smoothly and was all taken care of by LA Seismic. Douglas and his crew took care of the demolition of the existing foundation and all the following construction. The crew worked extremely hard in hot and cramped conditions. They kept things as neat as possible and cleaned up as promised in the contract when finished with the project (not 100% back to how it had been but reasonably clean given the scope of everything). The project was completed in a reasonable amount of time as estimated in the proposal. We are very happy with the results and highly recommend LA Seismic. read more

My saviors! My house in Santa Monica had major construction defects that caused the finished basement to flood every time it rained. I called LA Seismic based on their Yelp reviews. And I'm so glad I did! I worked with Renato, VP of Operations, who is impressively knowledgeable and a consummate professional. He was always available for every question I had and endlessly helpful. The issues with my house were very challenging to solve and LA Seismic's first attempts did not resolve the flooding. But they never left me hanging. They came back and back again until the basement was entirely flood free and they had solved my seemingly intractable problem. TLDR: This is going to be a long (positive review) because the job was big and it deserves a long review to give it justice but I'll cut to the chase first. Waterproofing a basement is never a fun thing to have to do and especially in the Los Angeles area where basements are rare. I never could have asked for a better team to work with. From start to finish they were professional, communicative, punctual, clean, hard working, honest, you name it. It was basically everything you could ask for in somebody who is working for you. The whole team (in order of how I met them): Tag, Renato, Keith and the Construction Team: supervisor - Douglas, head onsite - Marcos and his team: Sergio, Walter and Edwin (and a bunch of other guys that were sprinkled in over the 9+ weeks period) were exceptional. I highly recommend this company. The Story: Now onto the details if you want to keep reading (some people like the details and some do not). This all started with a frustration of water seeping into my basement not just in 2023 but also the Feb storms of 2024. I had originally talked to Tag and Renato in 2023 for a quote and they made me feel comfortable from the start. They provided me a quote which was a bit steep because the job was so big and I decided to hold off and think "what is the worst that could happen in 2024." Well I was wrong. After water seeped into my basement for a week after the huge Feb storm I immediately reached back out to them to ask for help since not only did it just seem easy to work with them but they provided the most competitive price for the work I needed so it was a win-win. They got me on the books and Marcos and his team showed up in mid March. They literally became my family for another two months until mid May. They were always on time and always cleaned up before they left for the day. They were communicative, as quiet as they could be and very courteous on top of the stellar work that they did. I admit that after the job was finished I woke up the next week expecting to be greeted by the guys outside and think I had a bit of withdrawal that they weren't here anymore. It sounds cheesy but that is a good feeling to think "ahh i kind of miss their presence" instead of "thank goodness they are gone." I now have a wateproof basement and a new beautiful driveway with drainage all over so that the rain storms can't affect my house ever again! My only caveat and it would NOT take away from the service is that if you don't know any Spanish, be prepared to struggle a bit to communicate with the guys. (This is probably very common in the industry). Douglas came around every few days and Marcos spoke decent English but with them not around at times it was hard to communicate. This does NOT take anything away from the job they did I just wanted to mention it though as I wish I brushed up on my Spanish before they came. =) Anyway, congrats to a job well done to the entire team. I definitely would refer them to anybody who was in my situation but hope nobody ever has a basement flooding problem in the LA area. read more

I have four estimates for my foundation when La seismic showed up I showed him what needed to be done and where to get into the crawlspace it took him about 10 minutes to go in and take pictures that I did not see he decided to tell me that I had more problems and I thought after three people told me I had less so I felt that he was trying to upsell and I asked him to leave. He never showed me pictures. I asked him three times he wouldn't show me the pictures until I asked him to leave and then he got belligerent and decided to yell and scream at me so I told him to get the F out of here and don't come back and he wouldn't leave so I had to get my son and my son told him to leave the lot. We will never do business with this company and I suggest that you don't either because I feel that this company is very untrustworthy. read more

I'm currently in the process of selling my house, and I was looking for a few well qualified, licensed foundation contractors to evaluate my house foundation for repair recommendations. Given that this was my first experience having to deal with this type of contractors, it was a bit challenging to understand their methodology as well as their business agenda (i.e., what they "push" you to spend money on). After meeting with four different foundation contractors in a span of a few days, I called a company called "LA Seismic Construction Company" that I found through Yelp. Despite a very short notice, they sent Mr. Renato Sebastiani out on the same day, and he was on time (seems rare in the world of "contractors"). It's been a quite a while since I last wrote a Yelp review, but I felt compelled to do so for this particular experience. Given that Renato from LA Seismic Construction Company was my "fifth" foundation contractor I dealt with in the past week, I feel comfortable making some meaningful and objective comparisons. Renato was professional, knowledgeable, well spoken, and had a pleasant mannerism that made it easy for me to ask questions and to discuss any concerned that I had about my house foundation. By the way, I am a child psychologist by trade, and I always appreciate those professionals who take their time to patiently listen, explain and to address their clients' concerns. And, Renato had all of these qualities. He neither dramatized nor complicated my concerns by calmly addressing them with clarity and sensible recommendations, which I was able to comprehend and appreciate. He displayed a wealth of knowledge and intelligence in this field and I learned more from this one discussion with him than my previous four contractors put together. I was having foundational issues with my house and I looked on Yelp for a construction company. I was skeptical about finding an honest and reasonable construction company. As other companies either didn't show up or they didn't go under the house and gave an inflated estimate.When I called L.A. Seismic construction I didn't have high expectations but Tag was very easy to talk to and he set up an appointment for an estimate. He sent Reynato, who came out and not only took the time to go under the house but also took pictures of everything underneath the house. Renato even called and followed up with me about making repairs on my house. La seismic construction completed the work within a week and I love the results. They sent an awesome construction crew who made sure to clean up at the end of each day and if I had any issues I could call Reynato or Tag and the issue would be resolved.
