Absolutely loved our dinner at La Sagrestia in Rome! The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, and our waiter Marco totally made the night-- funny, super friendly, and had great recommendations. We ordered the trio of pastas to get a little taste of everything, and wow-each one was better than the last. Perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and just the right portion. I also tried the Limoncello Spritz, which was refreshing and hit the spot after a long day of walking around the city.

I really enjoyed my dish here- it was very fresh and full of flavor. The noodles were very fresh and soft- the sauce was amazing and the truffles added that special sprinkle on top! The only reason it got a 3 star instead of 5 is because everyone else in my party was disappointed with their food; it was overpriced and lacked flavor. The seafood was also fishy. Due to the location it is overpriced- it's close to the Pantheon. But like I said, my specific dish was great, but I likely wouldn't come back.

It is a good place to visit near Coliseum. Foods are good. If you are hungry and close to Coliseum make a ride to this place.

After a long day of walking, we couldn't have landed at a better place to wind down the night with excellent food, great service, and amazing ambiance. The staff is not just welcoming, they are genuinely pleased to have you, are so incredibly friendly, and made the night fun for the whole family. Three very tired and cranky kids left full and happy with big smiles on their faces thanks to our waiter Mimmo's kind smile and wonderful sense of humor. The food was outstanding - we ordered several pizzas which were all incredibly tasty, calamari that was cooked to perfection, and pasta of all stripes that went well beyond our expectations. Of course it doesn't hurt that the location is mere steps away from the pantheon. I highly recommend this restaurant, and be sure to ask for Mimmo! Though you can't go wrong with any of the wait staff who were all such entertaining and wonderful people.

"I have a Italian frame of mind and Italy is my home." - Andrea Bocelli When in Rome... ahh the legendary When in Rome! When in Rome you play Gladiator at Colosseo! When in Rome you make three wishes at Trevi Fountain! When in Rome you ride a Vespa Primavera! When in Rome you listen to Bocelli! When in Rome... Al dente or die! Ahh Bocelli! After an afternoon and evening of site seeing artifacts I am famished. I am near the Pantheon so I hop, skip, and avoid tourist traps. It's well past 8:00p.m., but in Rome, the party is just getting started. Romans eat later, relax more, and certainly know how to live three lifetimes! After a few blocks of wanderlusting I arrive on via del Seminario and notice a quaint restaurant with no tourist greeters (a good sign lol). I notice an Italian family just leaving after dinner (a very good sign lol) and what seems to be a mixture of Romans and families inside. This looks promising and all indications it's not a tourist trap! So I whip out my iPhone and Yelp: La Segrestia La Segrestia holds a nearly 5-stars rating on Yelp. I notice a couple of my trusted foodie friends have been here, so I decide La Segrestia is where I'll have my dinner. I walk in and notice how spacious it is on the inside, you'd never expect just by looking from outside. The inside is fun with a eclectic collection of Italian decor and faux antiquity. I scan the room and notice a second dining area where all the action was going on. I am greeted "ciao" by a trilingual young lady, I only know she's trilingual because at first she spoke to me in Italian... Spanish... and finally my English lol. I mean I wanted to say Voglio passare il resto della mia vita con te. But hey it's a family restaurant and marriage proposals are a rarity here:P She informed me on the specials of the night and handed me the menu. The menu was somewhat overwhelming, yet fortunately it was in Italian and English with many in pictures, so it only took me a few minutes to adjust my palate and jeans lol. I decide to start with Bruschetta al Pomodoro and Minestrone Casalingo (vegetable soup). I add the house red wine (mandatory in Italia lol). For my dinner I decide Ravioli di Riccota e Spinaci (spinach ravioli) and Lombata di Vitello ai Ferri (grilled veal). I add more red wine;) I really enjoyed the Ravioli di Riccota e Spinaci the most! Of course I had to end the night with Tiramisù! Tiramisù in Roma, of course! And a cup of Italian Coffee. Delicioso! In the end, I recommend La Segrestia to all. A fantastic spot for Italian lunch or dinner. A warm vibe with friendly staff awaits you. And the best part it's in the heart of Roma... just a few blocks from the Pantheon. I enjoyed my al dente dinner at La Segrestia... Mi vuoi sposare? ;)

Excellent service and food! This was probably the friendliest service at a restaurant my whole trip in Italy. The restaurant is near the Pantheon and the feral cat park (although I only saw a couple of cats when I visited after dinner). My favorite dish of the night was the $11 euro spaghetti alla carbonara. It was rich, creamy and cooked perfectly...almost brought a tear to my eye. I also enjoyed the $13 euro rigatoni diavolesca. It was slightly too al dente for my preference, but the sauce was delicious and had a nice kick to it. ....| \ _ , , , - - , , _ , .../ , ` . - ' ` ' . _ \ - ; ; ; , _ ..| , a - ) ) _ . ; . My continued quest to find non-touristy restaurants, even in touristy areas, led me here. Close to the Pantheon, but without outside seating/barkers, AND loved by the locals...La Sagrestia checked all of my boxes. It was so nice & quiet. We came in for a late, light lunch, & being off hours paid off. After several days of being around swarms of people at some of the biggest attractions in the world, this quietness was in fact music to my ears. Then, service. No, not the fastest service you'll ever encounter, but that is par for the course in Italy. Italians actually promote a slower pace & relaxation. They do not like to rush! But our waiter was pleasant & helpful, & the mellow pace befit the relaxed ambiance. The fried stuffed olives were fantastic. Salty, crispy, addictive. And the risotto was cooked to perfection; not easy to do. Creamy & al dente. One of the best risottos in 2 weeks & 4 cities in Italy. A gem. Even though there were only a couple of other tables, we were the only tourists here. Success! Why not 5 stars? They were out of a dish we originally wanted (stuffed zucchini blossoms, during the height of zucchini season?!), which is almost unforgivable. But French Fries served w the lamb chops? Just no. Should be a smooth & creamy polenta beside it, right? 4 stars

    OVERCHARGED!!

CHECK YOUR BILL!!! I went on my own to La Sagrestia for lunch. The service was chaotic and the starter arrived around 25 minutes after I ordered it. I then had to remind the waiter that I had also ordered a glass of wine. He returned with a glass of wine without any apology for the delay. Overall he was very rude. When I received the bill I realised that I had been overcharged for my starter and main course. A cover charge for two people was also applied. When I pointed it out to the manager he just shrugged his shoulders and corrected the bill. The response form the manager suggested that this was not an isolated occurrence and I suspect that I am not the first person to suffer from this attempted scam. The whole experience left me feeling very angry which was a shame because it spoiled an otherwise wonderful day in Rome.

This was the absolute worst dining experience we have ever experienced. First off, the waiter was very bold. He brought over 6 bottles of wine when we sat down and asked us to pick one. We asked to try their house wine since a tour guide suggested we try it stating many restaurants offer an excellent house wine. Our waiter was not impressed with our choice. Everything quickly went downhill after that. Our arrogant waiter brought over 4 dirty & dusty wine glasses with the price tags still stuck to the bottom. There were 4 of us and we each put our finger in the wine glass and drew a line from the dust. When we pointed this out & the price tag on the bottom of the glasses, he just laughed and poured the wine into the dirty dusty glasses, dripping it all over the table. Needless to say, we did not touch the wine. Our dinner arrived and it was awful. We had been to this restaurant 8 years prior and it was so delicious, we couldn't wait to go back. When our bill came and I disputed the wine charge, a man came over and identified himself as the owner. He rudely asked if we were Americans and told us his grandfather would pay for our wine. I believe it doesn't matter where you come from, and if you are treated so rudely, you should speak up. I do not need his grandfather to pay for our wine. Needless to say, our once treasured memory of this restaurant will be forever tarnished. I'm sure they don't care. The shame is on them.

Had lunch today at La Sagrestia. Service was excellent, the restaurant is clean and comfortable, and the food delicious. I especially enjoyed our pizza, which came on the crisp, cracker-like thin crust I prefer. Four Stars!

Came here three, the first time was with a group of 30 people. We had called in the day before to get a reservation and we were accommodated quite nicely! So if you are planning on coming with a fairly big group, don't hesitate to call and reserve a spot. Well, what's to say about this place.. the interior is nice, there are two sides to the restaurant that you can be seated in. Overall, it's not a huge place, but it's able to fit in a lot of people. Yes, you may be squeezed by a few people, but it's the Italian family style feel that makes you feel like you're in someone's home. The food is really delicious too. When you're seated you're served a flatbread or two to share with your table. It's seasoned with a bit of salt, basil, and olive olive. Really simple, but delicious. I ordered the carbonara twice, yes it was that good! And the third time I came I ordered the arrabbiata penne. Oh my gosh. Now that that dish... amazing. I also tried some of the amatriciana. The noodles are like spaghetti, but a bit thicker. I was surprised at how delicious this dish was. The fried artichokes are also very delicious, but they can be quite oily. So, if you don't mind that, then you're set. Overall, I really really enjoyed this restaurant and I can't wait to go back to Rome and eat here again!

Review # 1200 After…read moresome shopping on the Via cola Di Riemzo, we were ready for lunch. This spot was a Yelp find. We arrived just before they opened at 12:30. We asked for a table outside and the kind lady asked us if we had a reservation (oh oh). We didn't. No problem as we took our pick of one of the tables. Two levels inside with a small Bar in the back. Before we knew it, outside seating was full and inside also filled up-a good sign. We ordered a liter (ended up being too much but when in Rome...) of their house Red and enjoyed it. For starters, we ordered the Fried Artichokes (thick breading and will order the Roman style with garlic/vinegar next time), fried Zucchini and Suppli-Cacio Pepe. The Suppli was delicious and was enjoyed the most. For main, it was Pasta Carbonara (Guanciale )-Proper carbonara and the streak of not having a bad version of this dish in Rome continues. The sliced Beef with mushrooms was also delicious -super tender and thin pieces of beef (medium rare as requested). We asked if the Tiramisu was house-made. Our server answered, "yes, and I am the one who makes it." How could we not order after that?! One of the best Tiramisus we've had. Perfect balance of coffee dipped lady fingers with cream-delicious! Our Server was kind, attentive and full of hustle -she was covering a lot of ground. Don't miss this Gem if you are in the Prati district.

So happy we did as this place definitely delivers. There is seriously like 8 tables in the dining room so expect a wait in line but trust me, it's worth it. We waited outside for about 25 minutes. They do take your order while in line so the wait for food (once you do get a table) is abbreviated. Out of the world pastas and the pistachio tiramisu is seriously out of this world. Inexpensive table wine rounds out a great meal. This is the type of place I love to go to. It's quaint, zero pretense and delivers on its food. A great find!
