Dead bedbug and the blood that it left behind after being smooshed.

Beware of giant bedbugs! Bugs when you smoosh them and they explode with human blood are not carpet beetles! Refused to issue a refund for the 2-hour stay (hightailed it out of there)!

Look how clean they got it! Man, I wish it was this clean when I checked in! What a contrast!

This is an update to my previous review: The only good thing about this hotel stay was the manager (Christina) adjusted the nightly rates by $40 a night for each room. Personally, as a manager and business owner I would have offered a free night however I was happy that I didn't need to have a further discussion with her and that the front desk kept her up to date. She had the adjustments ready for me as soon as I walked to the front desk and was very apologetic and kind when dealing with me. After I spoke to the supervisor (Thalia, I believe) on day 2, and mentioned that they didn't clean the mold she must have sent someone up when she saw me leave for dinner because it literally sparkled when I got back. I had to do a double take because I didn't expect it at that point since my room didn't have housekeeping service during my stay and they didn't clean it the first time. If I can I will post a picture, now if they can just keep it that clean no one will complain. It's a really easy solution... But they need to change their housekeeping system which I will contact the owners regarding. It is a privately owned franchise, so I know the challenges that come from dealing with the owners concerning staffing concerns, etc. I will be contacting them directly. I may update this review based on my experience with them. Christina, Thalia (I believe I am spelling her name correctly, I took a brief peak at the name tag) and the front desk crew provided me personally with exceptional care and they alone deserve 4 stars just based on empathy and a listening ear alone. Not one time did I feel like they didn't actually care, even after the crazy busy check in/check out that I witnessed earlier in the day. Life Tip: speak to them like they are human because they are! I say this because I was really upset with the attitude of another guest who was checking in and had an issue regarding a policy. Being a jerk will get you nowhere in life. Ok... Lol Anyway, the hotel function as a whole at this point in time is only worthy of 3 stars maximum. At least for the next few weeks (the Big E Is there, PLUS it takes a few weeks to get a good flow going from new training, etc), Please do not expect a 4 star hotel experience, unless you are used to 2 star hotels... In that case - you will be more than impressed but if you are used to 4 and 5 stars hotels like I am, this will not meet your expectations and you will be sorely disappointed. 3 at best currently.

For our family LaQuita is our hotel of choice ALWAYS. They have a great pet policy. No extra pet fees and dogs are always welcomed. Throughout the country they are working on updating them. The one in Springfield is updated. Yea! It is an interesting building. It has more floors than most. The hallways are more retro, but rooms are more modern. The front staff is great. We ran into other staff members as well who were welcoming and friendly as well. They have a bar in the lobby as well as a light menu offered in the evening hours. They have an indoor pool. Nothing special, but a nice size for an indoor pool. Breakfast is offered as well. They have fitness center that is better equipped than most hotels who say they have a fitness center. You know what I am talking about. They have a full set of free weights, treadmills, ellipticals, weighted balls, recumbent bike, TV's, pulley system, etc. The bed and bedding was great. Bathroom a little tight for two, but fine for one. Clean and ready for us to fall into. Pardon me...zzzzzzzzzzzzz. They didn't let us down.

Hotel was well located and in good condition. Kim at the lobby bar was the best bartender. Bar was small, but she was great.

Great experience but the hotel breakfast was extremely busy the toaster caught of fire. The beds were very comfy.

Ask the Community - La Quinta by Wyndham Springfield MA

Is there a shuttle to the MGM casino?

Walk! It's down the street.

My friend who used to live in Springfield said this was a sketchy area. Can anyone confirm or deny?

No it's ok--near lots of businesses and three or four blocks from New casino.

The free breakfast is meh quality but hey, it's nice to have someone else cook for you regardless. There's a pool too that my kiddo enjoyed. The hotel is 2 minutes from Holyoke mall that includes a Target. We got a frozen skillet meal from Target to make for dinner our first night there. I would stay here again and recommend it to others. Edited to add: As of August 2022 the staff was not masking, nor were masks required in any area of the hotel. The guests were mixed on masking. Many with N95 masks and taking breakfast to go to eat in their rooms mixed with guests not masking or distancing.

I had a serious unresolved booking problem there for my intended stay August 9-12, 2024. At check-in I was told, in sequence, "4 rooms left," then "2 rooms left," and finally "no rooms left" for any part of my intended stay. The sequence of having been told 4, then 2, then no rooms left was especially frustrating and seemed to me retaliatory for my mild expression of dismay, consternation, and frustration. My daughters and I arrived late from Logan Airport due to Debby weather, delayed rental car, and rain on the turnpike. We were attending my parents' funeral on the 10th. I understand that all people aren't going to be best friends; however, this night manager showed zero empathy. And worse, with the cockamamie room "countdown," I felt the manager exhibited personal animus. We stayed at an alternative--a nearby Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott--which we booked ourselves. Even so, on August 12, I received from Homewood Suites by Hilton an invoice and a paid receipt for all nights of the stay, August 9, 10, and 11. The only time spent at Homewood Suites by Hilton was in the lobby at 4 a.m. with the vindictive night manager counting down "4 rooms left," then "2 rooms left," and finally "no rooms left."

We already booked a room at a different location before we knew the MGM was there. We utilized our MGM cards (MGM really supports Veterans) for parking (did not have too as it was free-LOL). We parked, toured the casino, grabbed a sandwich and took advantage of the clean restrooms. We were at the Riverside park when it started sprinkling, so went back to parking garage. We found out they had a free party going upper level of garage with a cover band. We listened to the band, grabbed some food hot off the grill for a reasonable price and prepared to view the fireworks from the cover of the garage. Mother -Nature had other plans, weather turned nasty, band shut-down, and for safety we were moved to lower levels. We still saw the fireworks and exiting afterwards was not terrible. The Staff from Security to Food Venders were polite and helpful the whole evening. They saved our families 4th of July in Springfield.

There is coffee and tea all day long and again the service at the front desk is great they help with information and directions. It was superb. We really enjoyed our stay. We will be back in October. The only downside is that the room smelled stale and the television in the living room didn't work.

The atmosphere is solid and nice amenities are included such as a big gym and not a bad pool. There are several flaws with the gym and pool though. For starters the gym is nice and big but it feels like they prioritize quantity over quality. All of the machines are very old and not well made but they have almost everything a planet fitness would have. You can definitely get your workout in here but the machines and dumbbells are quite rusty. The gym is said to be 18+ though there is no one enforcing the policy. The pool is a great size for a hotel but it feels like a bathtub! The water is very warm and it doesn't help that the room is super humid.
