Delightful taco shop/art gallery to stop by for a quick bite. They have many options of vegetarian / bacon friendly tacos for $2 each. There are your usual red/green salsas and pico de gallo all with a good level of spice. Flour tortillas. There's also coffee and pastries like pan dulce. Love the featured artist area in the back, by the tables.

Hands down, the best place to go for some good cheap $2 tacos! It helped that my hotel, the JW Marriot, was literally right around the corner. I came here 3 days in a row. It was definitely worth trudging through a couple rainy mornings. I tried the Chorizo & Egg, which was by far my favorite. It had plenty of flavor and eating two of those filled me up. I also tried the Egg & Cheese and the Sausage & Egg, which just weren't quite as good. The sausage seemed a little too tough to chew. The owners of this fine establishment were very nice and will talk to you if you have the time. Of course, you will probably need to get out of the way constantly because so many locals come through. They also have art showings which I did not have the chance to check out but it's just another neat little thing they do for this town. I will be back again if my job leads me near!

I don't get ANY of the negative reviews here. I popped in to this unassuming spot to get exactly what I found; a super affordable, quick, warm, authentic meal to start my day. They pre make their burritos and tacos but each is fresh and labeled clearly for diet and allergy aware humans. I get some people who are staying at the nearby swanky hotels could turn their nose up at this local charmer, but I got a full, happy tummy for 3 bucks. I'm sure you could go around the corner and pay $20 to have the same thing on a pretty plate, but who needs that noise? I've got shit to do. In fact, I'll take one for the road. Thanks, La Pena. Sincerely, A Hungry Traveler.

What a great find. Located on Congress Street near all the hotels and a great alternative to the pricier eateries in the area. Their breakfast tacos are only two dollars each and they are tasty. If you're looking for something quick affordable and delicious I highly recommend this place.

There's a Taco Deli a block away, which I am a fan of, but La Peña has a secret weapon: their veggie chorizo and egg taco!

My first time ever trying Michelin star tacos!…read more Suedero tacos and they were amazing! Juicy, tender, and with a squeeze of lime and salsa (red plus green) it was perfect! Like your girl can eat tacos but I had never been one to be like let's go get some cause I am craving them. But man cuantos tacos can definitely get me saying I want and crave them! I thought prices were pretty fair at 2.75 a piece. After much researchon what to eat in Austin this is one of the spots that I saved as a bookmark. While I was in Austin, a foodie friend on Instagram shared with me her list of recommendations since she just moved to Austin not too long ago. I knew that Ihad to stop by Cuantos Tacos, I mean how often do you see a Michelin BibGourmand taco truck. We came here for dinner but it was cold, sprinkling, anddark out. Tables they had were wet from the sprinkle.  My family only triedthe suadero taco ($2.75 per taco) but OMG it was the best thing we ate duringour trip in Austin. It was super memorable, the meat was soft and the salsaadded the perfect kick to it. It's been a month, my husband and I are still daydreamingabout these tacos.  Tacos are madepretty fast, we had to order tacos 3x since they were so good, we kept wantingmore. Wait time was super reasonable. Staff are nice and if I lived closer Ican see myself coming here every taco Tuesday! This definitely is a must go tospot if you like tacos.   Tips: *Small parking lot *Outdoor seating only *Credit card accepted *Porta Potty in theback (night time it is pretty dark and hard to see) *They cater. *You can also orderonline for pick up. Tips: Credit card and cash accepted. Outdoor seating option only. Restroom is port a potties. Located in an area with other food trucks.

Making them costra style to add cheese for 50c is a nice touch too. The picnic seating kinda leaves a lot to be desired, my table was very broken. Staff is friendly and helpful in the truck!

I ordered 2 steak tacos and horchata, both very delicious. The horchata is milky and sweet but not crazy sweet, and topped off with cinnamon. The steak tacos came out pretty hot, fresh from the grill. I got them on corn tortillas and I'm glad I did: idk if they make them in house but somebody in some house is making these because they definitely aren't store bought, and if they are I want to know where! I tried the orange habanero and creamy serrano salsas. The habanero was spicy off the bat, while the serrano had more of a lingering burn. Both paired well with the steak. They have a little bar, too, though I did not imbibe this time. Seems like they have a decent selection of agave spirits, and even Campari behind the bar (iykyk). Give them a shot, and thank the ladies in the kitchen.
