I took a dear friend to La Perla for her birthday lunch. Neither of us had been before, but loving Mexican food and fish, this seemed like a good choice. We were seated and brought menus right away, for both cocktails and food. We decided to celebrate with margaritas: mango and strawberry. Both were delicious. Our server, a sweet and beautiful young lady, was so helpful, explaining things we weren't familiar with and offering suggestions. We decided to start with the shrimp and cheese-stuffed yellow peppers wrapped in bacon. They were so good! Although taking our time perusing the menu, I had already decided I wanted the whole red snapper with crispy skin. The owner came over to introduce himself and welcome us. We talked a bit and he said they had been open just a year and were still adding to the menu. For example they were going to make a quesadilla similar to the appetizer we had just enjoyed so much. He also brought the bad news that they were out of the whole fish and the next shipment was coming tomorrow. He said the fish filets were available and very good. He also suggested a combination platter of several things to try and that's what we went with. Before that came, a single Gobernador-style taco showed up: shrimp with cheese, onion, and bell pepper. Not sure how we ordered it, lol, but it was flavorful and delicious. We went with the mixed grill for two: grilled steak, shrimp, stuffed peppers, and marlin tacos, (minus the octopus - we just haven't reached the octopus level of sophistication... yet) with beans, rice, and flour tortillas. The beans were especially creamy and yummy. Everything was full of flavor and each item tasted different. The steak was well-seasoned but a bit chewy. We loved all of it, but the marlin tacos were our overwhelming favorite. The chef obviously believes in a little heat rather than spicy overload, so even those with a delicate palate should enjoy everything. So much delicious food but we couldn't manage any more, and packed up remaining steak, shrimp,, tacos, beans, rice, and tortillas.Looks like dinner for tomorrow. Even though we said we couldn't squeeze in dessert, our server brought a piece of tres leche cake for the birthday girl, boxed and ready to go. We couldn't resist a taste, so two tiny bites are missing. So creamy and decadent. The birthday girl took the rest home. La Perla's decor is light and inviting, with beachy colors and fish painted on the walls. The fish wallpaper in the ladies room is adorable. Bathrooms were immaculate, just like the rest of the restaurant. We are definitely going back soon. read more

Some of the better carne asada in town. It's usually ironic because, back in the day, BK's (a hot dog place) had the best in Tucson. Reasonably-priced lunches and homemade aguas frescas. Owners seem nice too. They do a happy hour also, starting at 3pm on weekdays. Karaoke on Friday nights. Service was quick and the food was delicious. read more

La Perla used to be the old Mariscos Mi Mazatlan which used to be one of the best Mexican restaurants in Tucson...The new place have a nicer overall sea and naval theme going but the audio inside was just so loud. The wait time was a little long for the food but everything tasted really good and worth the wait. I particularly liked that they have a "seafood albondigas" as I've not seen that anywhere else in town. Their take on the surf and turf was perfectly cooked and it wasn't so expensive like many other restaurants that do steak and shrimp. It seems now that it's rare to actually feel satisfied/full for food that is not too expensive but La Perla really does that well. I'd like to go back but really hoping the wait time for actual food doesn't take sooo long next time and likely would also be a great idea not to get seated where the live music (the night we were there it was a guitarist-electric not acoustic-that was playing). I haven't had the pleasure of dining in. I always order takeout, but I can't tell you that it's very typically decorated of a Mexican seafood place very lively. Also it's very clean and their staff is super friendly this time around I ordered two tostadas one shrimp and one fish ceviche, and their portions are quite generous. You can appreciate on the picturesthose 2 cups equals the two tostadas that I ordered I can probably make about six tostadas with the amount that they gave me love this place. read more

Service was fast and top-notch. The owner, Paul, takes great pride in everything they do there and it shows. The food was fresh, hot and let me tell you; I've eaten Mexican food all across America and this is one of the best. Oh, you don't like Mexican food? That's OK, they have amazing seafood dishes that will rock your socks, and you won't even know it's Mexican. I think the cooks are using Abuela's best recipes and they skimp on nothing! Came to La Perla Del Pacifico on a Saturday afternoon wasn't too crowded I was greeted right away and seated promptly. They brought chips and salsa right away as well as taking my drink order. I was unsure what to get the waitress Stephany gave me good recommendations. I went with the à la Boston which is shrimp wrapped with bacon and filled with cheese it was amazing I would recommend . The ambiance was also great they had good music playing the whole time not to loud and when I asked for them to put the u of a game on they didn't hesitate . Definitely an underrated restaurant that deserves all the recognition. I stumbled across this restaurant during breakfast time and was not disappointed. Service was very kind, I felt as if I was at home with all the amazing smells coming from the kitchen and surprisingly had a very delicious coffee. I saw that these guys were open for breakfast and I'm always looking for a new breakfast spot. It was only the second weekend of being opened for breakfast so it was pretty quiet so the server was very helpful and attentive. I was surprised there was only one seafood option (huevos rancheros con Cameron), but that's what my mom got (minus the spicy sauce) and it was really tasty. I got a steak and egg open faced sandwich was was really good and I would definitely get again. We'll have to come back for lunch to really explore their seafood options, so I'll be back! read more

When we arrived, it was completely empty. We were greeted with a very rude, "you can choose where you want to sit" from the waiter. The service never changed and she was really rude the entire time. Never a, "your welcome" after a thank you until she was giving us the check. The food was not good at all. We had two orders of "Camarones Culichi". It has to be the most watered down version I have ever tried! The taste was okay but just the consistency of water. The serving of rice looked like two table spoons. Just a horrible experience. Our aunt and uncle came into to town for their wedding anniversary and we ended up at La Perla Del Pacifico. This restaurant was incredible with the service and the fish was amazing. Would recommend this restaurant to those that enjoy the Mexican style cuisine with fish. read more

My wife and I came here strictly from what other yelpers had said. We got here and there seem to be a little bit of a language barrier. We were finally able to order and it took 20 minutes to bring our food even though we were the only ones in the restaurant. We came in solely because we had a Restaurant.com coupon that I legitimately bought on that app and they said it must be a fake website we cannot honor it. They gave me 10% off to try and help. I asked how much the Sour cream cost and the server told me one dollar. I got my check and it said two dollars so I asked the waitress about it and she grabbed the menu and showed me that it was two dollars and said I'm sorry. The only reason I gave it a two was the food was real good, but the experience overall just left a bad taste in our mouth. We will not be coming back. read more

Been wanting to check this place out and I'm glad we did. If you want a super laid back, straight outta Cabo kind of restaurant, then this is your place. It's always a good sign in a Mexican restaurant when I'm the only gringa I ordered a small shrimp ceviche which was gigantic and full of shrimp. It was cocktail style, and muy delicioso! We ordered a variety of other entrees and shared. Everything was huge portions and very tasty. I loved the charred onions, and the cucumbers. The reason I'm leaving off 1 star is due to the lack of clean tables. We sat at a table that was sticky and kind of gross, and the wait staff didn't seem concerned. My other reason is that they only have 1 salsa. I wanted something super hot and they only had hot sauce in the bottle. I will definitely be back to try more seafood! read more

3.75 stars is a fair rating for me. When you drive up it looks a little dated but go in anyway. Inside is the same. Service was great, friendly and helpful. Food: I had the camarones Vera Cruz. Made with a tomato, onion, bell pepper, green olive sauce cooked with bay leaves. Shrimp were lightly coated and cooked almost perfectly. They were a little over done but not so you couldn't eat them. The rice was nice but the potatoes were thin sliced, cool and limp. Wish they were more crispy. Came with a green salad that didn't add much to the dish. Homemade corn and flour tortillas were warm and delicious. My wife had the shrimp stuffed with crab wrapped in bacon and deep fried. No doubt the Michelada is really good and really big complete with a whole, nasty shrimp hanging off the side of the glass! I guess it's only for decoration because it tasted awful. Ordered toritos and not impressed. Only one very small shrimp inside a dull chile and cream cheese doesn't improve the flavor. Why wrap it in bacon? To hide the lack of taste or ingredients? I ordered a small shrimp cocktail, hubby a shrimp and scallop tostada. The shrimp are pre-cooked and old and have a mealy texture...yech...the tostada was not crispy, just soggy from the "seafood". I've only been here once but WOW. We shared the seafood platter for two. It has fish and shrimp cooked multiple ways, Caribbean lobster and each of us got a separate plate with salad, rice and beans. No way could be eat it all. The building is dated but the beer is cold and the food is good. When you see the parking lot is loaded with Sonoran license plates, you get a good feeling. The quality of the food is not that great and I strongly believe is overpriced. My husband ordered the burrito which was huge but didn't have a great taste. I personally am a huge seafood fan and had my hopes up for this place. I ordered a campechana cocktail, even though the size was right the consistency and taste were really "blah". We paid $50 with no alcohol in our order. I was really dissapointed. The place does have a great authentic mexican look which I love! My husband and I ordered a seafood platter. The batter used on the seafood and the shrimp was very dry. The fish that didn't have batter had blue spots ( it didn't look appetizing). I asked the waitress why our fish had blue spots, she had no idea what to tell me. I told the waitress to go ask the cook, we waited for 15 minutes for a response.
