Delicious food, great friendly service, and really nice decor! Lots of great vegan and vegetarian options as well.

New promotion!

It gets better and better everything, we go. And I just love the employees and the new menu items!!! Had the albondigas tonight and the walnut champurrado and I'm officially in love!!!

Terrible customer service skills

I had a very disappointing experience. I asked if my meal would be spicy and was told it was not, but when it arrived it was too spicy for me to eat. When I politely mentioned this, the server repeatedly insisted it was not spicy. I simply wanted to move on and leave. Additionally, I ordered a kids' meal that included a soda per the menu. The soda was flat, so I requested water instead, yet I was still charged for the soda. When I asked about the charge, the server told me "You know what? You need to leave. Just go." with a nasty stank face and attitude. I remained polite throughout, especially with my children present. As someone with restaurant experience, I understand issues happen, but the server's response felt unprofessional and made us feel unwelcome.

Blended margarita

This place has always been a mainstay for me as far back as the 90's. It's an oldie but goodie with consistent flavors and service! For the last several Sundays I've door dashed their menudo and cafe de olla - always *chefs kiss* the best for a Sunday breakfast. Today we dined in - for the first time in awhile - and it was like coming home. The restaurant is festive with lots to look at and homage to cultura from floor to ceiling, left to right. I had a blended margarita and the enchiladas suizas - all well done, flavorful, and good! Past dishes I've had include the molcajete which was always piping hot, flavorful, and complimented by hand made tortillas. Service was excellent. I felt well taken care of and got to visit with the owner Lilly for some table side chit chat. We will definitely be back in person!

The oregano and chili powder came in.

Heard good things about this place so we decided to check them out. We ordered a menudo on Sunday. It was watered down and the condiments they sent them in small ziplocks that I didn't feel comfortable eating them. The cup had more water down soup than the meat and hominy. We ended up getting sick from it. It was pricey to be honest. The employees do need more training . Sorry to say won't be coming here or recommending it to anyone.

Mujarra Frita

Had the tamarind mojito, so tasty! I had Mojarra Frita, it was a large fish and very tasty also. Salsas were authentic, homemade tortillas. It was a very authentic family run restaurant. The family was very sweet and very appt that we can came in. Everyone should come and taste their food and feel their hospitality.

From the moment we walked in, the staff greeted us warmly, making it clear they genuinely care about their guests. I ordered the Mojarra Frita, and it did not disappoint--it was perfectly crispy, served piping hot, and generously meaty. An absolutely delicious dish. I'll definitely be returning for another great meal!

Great food. Excellent place for party. Excellent service. On July 12, we had a surprise birthday party for my dad.

A surprise not yet birthday party for my dad. Excellent service excellent food. I highly recommend this restaurant for everybody. This was my father's favorite restaurant.

House sangria
Joshua B.

Ordered the flautas with chicken and the house sangria. Cleaned the plate as it was a solid offering. Beans, rice, undressed salad (I mixed it in with the beans and rice), small cup of guac, and two flautas. No frills, but that's not what I eat for. Everyone here has been super friendly (even after I clumsily knocked over my sangria)! Only the second time coming, but we definitely plan on returning.

Front of La Parillada

Came to La Parillada for some good delicious menudo on a cold night. It hit the spot. This place never fails. It's home made soups are always delicious. Excellent service. I feel at home everytime. The decor is festive and inviting. Not a big chain restaurant so your good is freshly cooked.

Good Authentic Mexican Food with a humble Ambiance but with prices of a steak house. I'll leave it at that.

I enjoyed my meal. Also, had lunch for the next day. Service was amazing, it was a busy night and they had plenty of servers. Expect to wait cause this place is pretty popular in Covina. We waited around 35 mins which is fair being the weekend & brunch hour! They had the food buffet going on so my brothers got that (they didn't have many dessert options), my mom got the cocido soup which she enjoyed! I got the albondigas (meatballs were ground chicken) I actually liked my every much being a different kinda than what I am use too. Even warmed it up the next day for lunch at work! Still so yummy! My grandma got the cheese enchiladas which she loved. They also sang happy birthday & had the whole restaurant singing haha so that was cute & enjoyable. Welcome Home We…read moreescaped the storm in Hawai'i and after a fun filled Spring Break week at Disneyland, my son's one and only request was to eat at Casa Moreno!! Thankfully we were able to detour from Anaheim on our way to LAX. Special shout out to the dedicated staff who graciously accommodated us and allowed us to sneak in a bit early in order to fulfill our cravings and still make our flight on time. I grew up going to Casa Moreno since the original spot in 1995, you can say it's home for me. My kids have therefore grown up visiting it every chance we get when visiting our family in the area. We generally all share and pass our plates around in true family style because we can never decide which all-star traditional plates to order. This time, the kid's quesadilla, 3 Amigos, Steak Fajitas, Chicken Flautas and Machaca made the cut. The look on my son's face when the sizzling platter was headed his way was just as magical as seeing him hug Chip and Dale. Every single bite warmed our hearts and filled our homemade food starved bodies. Casa Moreno is undeniably the greatest Mexican food that Los Angeles has had to offer for over 30 years. Their traditions span throughout three generations and the second you crunch those warm chips covered in their "Chilanga" salsa, you'll be hooked. The best part is that my local family is always there and pleased to come sit with us. We are all unfortunately spread apart across the country but Casa Moreno will always be the place that brings us together. Our shared experiences and memories there always make it HOME. Thank you Casa Moreno for all the sacrifices and hard work to stay around this long, it is very much appreciated by this LA girl living in Hawai'i.

It was tasty and there was plenty on the plate along with rice, beans, and a small salad. Absolutely love that they put a fire roasted chili on top, radish slices, and an orange slice. The service was great! As soon as I walked in the door, I was greeted and asked if she could take my order. Sidenote, you order at the counter and they bring it to your table. They have a salsa bar, which I got a picture of, it will be in this review. All of the salsa looks fresh and tastes amazing! They serve fresh chips with a light amount of beans on top. Yummy! The ambience of this place is a cute trendy vibe. Since it is a couple days after Valentine's Day, they have decor for Valentines in the lobby and small hints throughout the restaurant. Definitely be forewarned they are a cash only business. They do have atm in the lobby. I had enough cash on me to pay for my food. Chili Verde plate and a small soda came to $23 and change.

Right away, the vibe was giving outdoor patio but with cozy indoor energy. Super clean inside and out, and the staff was really friendly. Our waitress this morning--her name was "B"--was the sweetest. Super kind, always checking in on us and making sure we were good. If you're like me and super indecisive, I usually stalk the menu the night before. But this menu was HUGE--pages and pages. I flipped straight to the brunch section in the back (three full pages!) and landed on the Supreme Skillet: potatoes, over-easy eggs, bell peppers, ham, and sausage. It came with three tortillas of your choice--I picked corn. Taste-wise, it was good, but I wish there were bigger and more pieces of meat. Compared to other skillets I've had, this one was a little light on the protein. It was $17.99. I'd rate it a 6.5/10, but with the refried beans on the side, it bumped up to a 6.9/10. My bestie ordered the Combo Benedict with French toast sticks, and honestly...the French toast sticks were the star. Super crispy, fluffy inside, and perfect with syrup. We also got the mimosa flight--mango, strawberry, and peach. All were tasty, super cute, and very Instagram-worthy. I can totally see this place popping at night with music and drinks. That said, even in the morning with only one other couple next to us, the music was pretty loud--it was kinda hard to talk during our brunch, literally had to look at besties lips to know what she's saying. I can't even imagine nighttime volume, lol. Overall: Ambience: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Food: 3.5/5 Definitely a fun spot to try, especially if it's your first time! But def plenty better brunch food out there! Happy eats!
