This is absolutely the best pozole ever! They offer red and green, I've only had the red pozole because it's pork the green is chicken. The service is outstanding I think everyone of the service personal waited on us to make sure everything was okay! They have a super cute bar in the middle of the restaurant which is super cool and decorated with dollar bills! A delicious restaurant to eat! The Cadillac margaritas are wonderful and big!

Tried this place out for the first time and the food was a solid 3.75. I rounded up coz the service was pretty good. They were very attentive and checked on us frequently. My husband can't handle heat and they gave us options for salsa for him. We ordered the carne asada wet burrito, side of chile relleno, and side of beef flautas. The wet burrito was good and great portion. The chile relleno came out warm and not hot. Would've enjoyed it more if it was hot. Flautas were good. Packed with lots of meat. I had it for leftovers next day and it was good air fried.

The location is great. Nice parking options. Staff was friendly and welcoming. Had a Bloody Mary but it wasn't the best. Very little "mix" and therefore little flavor. It had ample vodka but the flavor was lacking. Only ate a side of taquitos and rice/beans al la carte. Food was good. But if you're looking for a cocktail, stick to margaritas.

My family and I have been customers of Max's Restaurant for over twenty years. Going back to their previous and much smaller location on Foothill Blvd not far from their current and much larger location. On the many previous visits, Max's has always been a very pleasant dining experience. During this recent visit, service was very slow for the first 3/4 of our time spent here. Our drink orders were taken by an older, female waitress. Our drinks never arrived. Twenty minutes went by before a young male waiter came by and asked if we had received our beverages and we said, "No". Our drink orders were taken once again and ten minutes later, we received our drinks. We also placed our food orders at this time. We have now been here twenty-five minutes and we are now just placing our food orders. My wife and I ordered the chile verde pozole, a cheese quesadilla and a chicken burrito. We ate most of the chips and salsa which were brought to us prior to placing our food orders as we were very hungry. Chips and salsa were delicious. Getting back to our food order, we waited, and waited and waited some more for our food to be delivered to our table. It took thirty-eight minutes from the time we placed our order for our food to finally arrive. Needless to say, I was EXTREMELY irritated. The cheese quesadilla was extremely greasy which I will blame on the cheese, the pozole and my chicken burrito were good. The negative was I had asked for no rice in my burrito and it arrived with extra rice. The restaurant was extremely crowded and super loud. The three older gentlemen sitting in the booth behind our booth apparently LOVE the, "F" word bcos every other word coming from their very loud conversation was, "F" this and "F" that, "B". The final nail in the coffin was when we received the bill. It was almost $70.00 for breakfast. Pozole, cheese quesadilla, chicken burrito, large horchata and a large diet soda. We know Max's prices and this was the most we have ever paid for breakfast. Prices have DEFINITELY gone up. We WILL visit again but not as often as we have over the years. This was NOT a good dining experience.

Really love the vibes -Love the staff! So very friendly. Chips and hot sauce good. This post is for those with dairy allergies or sensitivities. All meat- ALL Meat is marinated in dairy marinade- bummer for me as I'm allergic to the dairy protein. This is not noted on the menu and the waitress had to ask cook staff. So we drank margaritas, had guacamole and chips. Highly recommend this place. Very responsive wait staff. We felt very taken care of. Just wish there was option to have meat (chk, beef or shrimp) without the dairy marinade if requested.

First time here and it was great! We went straight to the bar area and it was popping! We order an appetizer sampler and it was good! The drinks were in a decent size and it was strong! They also came by to sing happy birthday with a flan! Had a blast and would come back anytime!

Service was great! Ambiance was a classic sit down Mexican restaurant. I felt that the beans had a sweet taste that I didn't really like. The tamale was good but the meat inside was a little dry, the salsa was also not very flavorful. Would go if trying for the first time or a late night margarita with the boys.

I went to Max's for breakfast with my husband, as usual, we were greeted with a smile and the famous "where have you been". This place is delicious. I had menudo and it was excellent!! Not only did they serve it with no meat, it was a perfect portion. Making this my number one Menudo spot.

It's not a huge restaurant but very welcoming. We had a party of 25 and they are able to accommodate you when you reserve in advance. The establishment is clean and organized. The service is great! They waiters make sure you are good at all times. The food is amazing! Food is seasoned to perfection and the drinks are flavorful. You do get a good serving on your plate. We love coming to this establishment.

We're just finished a hike nearby and did a search for Mexican restaurant and ended up here a few minutes later and we are very glad that we did! The place has a fun, cute ambience, but it does have holiday decorations up currently that will probably come down soon. The staff couldn't have been more professional or pleasant and the food was excellent and filling. The first thing that I mark a restaurant down for is the salsa since that's the very first thing you get and I like a thicker salsa more than a picante more liquidy salsa, but even though there was more of the picante style, it was very flavorful and very spicy, and no matter how much you drink that spice would stay in your mouth, and that wasn't a bad thing. We don't live nearby, but we do hike over this way occasionally and I'm sure we will stop by again.

How much are the drinks? They have no prices on their menu

Beers are $6-10 depending on the size. Cadillac margaritas, the big ones, are about $15.50... pretty much typical, except Max's drinks are strong!

    Can i bring small dog?

Yes as they have outdoor seating in the back with plenty of space

They do not skimp on their portions and actually care how their food looks at the time of service. This place makes sure their food looks nice, but don't charge you extra for that. Service: 5 out of 5 their employees are very pleasant and professional. They gladly answer all your foodie ingredient questions. They are more than accommodating. You will see, they are genuinely nice. As far as the ambience goes, for certain a stro g 4 out of 5. Nothing can be more comforting than to sit back and relax here. They have hi tables woth stools, as well as the hybrid style booth/table combo. Fans are always circulating and it is definitely not too stuffy. They do have music playing in the background, but it is not too loud like many places do. We have been back to try new and different dishes....all have been very tasty. A smaller and cozy place to have a nice meal. I can tell they cater to the local college students and offer a student discount. ***Hidden Bonus: their café de la olla is DELICIOUS! You can twll they make it fresh regularly and do not let it sit. It is by far waaaaay nicer than what they serve anywhere in the area. We would drive to get a nice cup in Monrovia, but this café de la olla beats it hands down. It is NOT bitter, nor is it over sweetened! So.etimes we swing by for a To-good cup. We recommend this place for everything: nice food served with a friendly smile.

The bacon was under cooked. The chilaquiles were just okay. The asada was bland. Husband ordered the torta de milanesa but they were out of that so they sent him the asada torta instead. He was unhappy about that. He could have chosen something else if given the choice. The torta was all bread with very little meat. Bread was not even toasted. It was dry. Not the worst torta he's ever had he said but didn't care to return and order this ever again or anything else from the menu. daughter had the Nutella pancakes. She liked them. I tried a bite and I thought they were okay. Nothing special. We won't be returning. This place left much to be desired

There are two Fridays left if you want to partake in the seasonal dishes offered during this time, please bookmark this restaurant. We ordered the two Specials of the Day (Fri., 3/28/25): 1. Tortitas de Camaron con Mole with Nopales and Roasted potatoes (ground breaded Shrimp into small Patties with cactus) $15, served with thick handmade corn tortillas. 2. Capirotada (bread pudding with peanuts & raisins in syrup) $10. We also had Enchiladas in Poblano Mole. Each entree included a cup of Fideo soup, a side of rice and beans. I could not resist the Cafe de Olla (Mexican coffee brewed with a cinnamon stick), this was served with two cookies in a ceramic mug. This is how you would be served in someone's home. I was stunned when they brought it to me. The food was authentic, delicious, good portions. You will love how the food is plated and presented in ceramic dishes (pottery). We didn't finish and brought the rest home for dinner. I literally was transported back to my childhood, when my grandmother would cook these two same dishes during Lent. The hospitality, decor and service makes you feel like you're home. The food restrictions is part if a religious tradition, but anyone can eat these foods. I've really enjoyed my meals and the service (we even had a small spill on the table). It's a smaller restaurant but they do an excellent job on serving you throughout your visit and have some good music playing. You'll start off with chips and salsa which is good not too spicy. Food has been excellent! My daughter kept saying delicioso (Can you say delicioso? *Dora the explorer*) haha. We've made multiple trips since our first time. Carne en su juego had a great tasting salsa. Sopes had a nice crunchiness to them. Chile relleno was very good and juicy. The enchiladas were all very good. One of the things I've enjoyed are tbe hand made tortillas, it's hard to find now a days. They have aguas frescas and it's actually fresh so they may only have one or two each day. Cafe de Olla was good, sweet but I like it (sweet tooth in me) and comes with a cookie. The baño aka restroom also has a changing table (yes no changing the baby on my lap!).
