Great for takeout. I always get the pernil rice and beans, a side of tostones and a salad with grilled shrimp for my wife (SOMEbody's gotta be health conscious). It's always on point. I order a lot from this place we only had a couple of times that the chicken was really dry. The ladies on the phone tent to be a bit rude and I hate that they always assume you speak Spanish, so you have to keep repeating yourself a lot to get understood and sometimes it's hard to understand what they say too. This is my second time ordering from there and the first time we ordered fried chicken chunks with bone (chicharron de pollo con hueso) with white rice and beans which the beans I received an hour later. When I tried to call the place after a half hour regarding the beans because we were still waiting patiently, one of the girls kept me on hold for 15 minutes then hung up. I tried again and told a different female that the other girl left me on hold for 15 minutes and she says hold one and asked the other girl if she left me on hold and the lady then says to me, you are wrong she didn't do that and anyway your beans is on it's way. SMH, amazing. Not even an apology. The driver told me that they gave him the wrong address and he was very apologetic. In regards to the food, it was just ok. Not much flavor. Today we decided to try their Monfongo with penil (pork) and it was not good at all. Seriously, it was not good, I am still nauseous. So, let me explain why. Monfongo, that I know is fried plantains mashed with a little garlic and pork and served with a meat sauce. This Monfongo with penil was omg soggy... yes soggy. We tried to eat it because we were hungry but it was disgusting. It looked like they mixed fried platanos with boiled platanos and mixed in the pork. It reminded us of Mangu which is boiled platanos. It was not good at all. I am actually nauseous from it and my daughter in laws stomach is all messed up. I have photos of it and what is left. The one and only positive thing I can say about the monfongo is that they did put a lot of penil in it. I honestly tried giving this place another try but never again. I would not recommend. The worst I should've listened to the reviews. Waited over an hour for my delivery. Called the place twice to get an update. Finally delivery guy calls and tells me he was outside. He was lying. He didn't even have my address. I called seamless and tried to get a refund. Never even got the food. And I just read the review that someone charged $250 worth of clothes online using the persons credit card number from their Grubhub order. I will be calling my bank tomorrow first thing in the morning and setting up an alert. Never in my life has ordering food been such a nightmare. This place is a disgusting excuse for a restaurant. Food is actually good. Their combo value dinner meals are a good bargain. Been there 3x. Nothing but attitude from the ladies. Absolutely HORRIBLE customer service! I ordered many items from Grubhub to only receive 1/4 of the order! I called them to ask that they call the driver because I didn't get my full order delivered. The lady on the phone said "oh, you didn't get all of your order because we had over 6 orders come in at the same time so we didn't realize it". How can a business not review each and every order before it leaves the restaurant?! She then said that the other half of the order will be in my house in 10-15 minutes. 35 minutes later I call and NO ONE picks up the phone! So I call their next door restaurant (same owner), got a manager on and she said she'll talk to them and that she'll call me back. I never got a call back from that manager so I called La Parada again and they finally pick up only to tell me that they didn't have the seafood soup nor the yuccas I ordered but that they were making it from scratch and that they had to go get yucca from somewhere else (probably next door)! Excuse, after excuse, after excuse! I spoke to their manager there and he was apologetic but when I asked him to confirm my order, he put the same lady that messed up my order and kept on calling me darling, girl, etc like it was cute! I was beyond mad at that point because she only kept on mentioning 2 out of the 4 things missing and when I asked her what about the other 2 she said yeah, I have it - so why not confirm the order like I asked? Finally I had to pick it up myself after they tried saying No order was placed, although they took payment and knew which order I was talking about. If I could give this place zero stars I would. I ordered food through grub hub and received a message that it would arrive about an hour later. An hour and 20 minutes later, my husband calls the restaurant and is told "the food is on the way." 30 minutes later (now almost 2 hours after my initial order) we call back and are told that they never even started preparing our food. They were not apologetic at all and blatantly lied when we called previously to ask where the food was. Never again. Horrible service. I had to call grubhub to cancel and get my money back. Just like Jessica B. my family has had same experience with terrible service. I believe in giving new businesses chances to fix their issues before judging but by now they should have things in order. Each time has been a problem with either the service or the food. And yes the ladies that work there have been rude to my daughter and to my husband on several occasions. On one occasion I called to complain to the manager and to my surprise he was even worse than the other employees. One time I went in and waited over 1/2 hour for my order to then find out that the cook said he never got the order. Oh and they always run out of this or that. We never get what we really wanted! This restaurant started off with quality food and quality service, however that has all but disappeared several months later. The food is mediocre and the customer service from the boss to the servers is lacking. They will argue with you over giving an extra condiment or give it to you with an attitude.
