My last review was because I'm a dummy. I thought this place was another restaurant off of San Jose. THIS PLACE IS GREAT. The food is delicious with good portions. Prices are reasonable and competitive. Service was attentive and quick. Environment was bright, clean, and spacious. Used to be a La Nopalera I think? New ownership, rebranding, or something else- whatever. All I know is it's better. read more

Came here for a Taco Tuesday. They offer 3 tacos for $5.99 with your choice of either ground beef or pulled chicken. It was a pretty reasonable price, tasty, well seasoned, and they did not skimp on the meat. We also ordered their Grilled Chicken plate. It comes with rice and a salad, sadly no beans. Unfortunately, the chicken was really dry and we had to use the extra salsa we requested to drizzle on top of it to make it edible. Will definitely not order this again. read more

I'm not picky but the food here was pretty bad. Not even good chips and salsa. Will not be back.

Although we have been pleased with a different location, we were not impressed with this location- mostly due to the service. My nacho order came to the table incorrectly and I sent it back. The guy who brought it to the table (not the server) was clearly annoyed with me, although I wasn't the one who screwed up the order. What came back was the correct nacho order with the added "bonus" of a giant beefsteak tomato on top. Our laughter when he walked away should have been a clue that his passive aggressive response was ridiculous, not to mention wasteful since we didn't eat it. Otherwise our actual server was good and the food was tasty. read more

We are from San Diego. This Mexican food is awesome! You can judge a Mexican restaurant by a few things. One is their refried beans and theirs are great. Two salsa, and Carnitas. Their Carnitas are absolutely incredible. Christopher took amazing care of us. The Carnitas here are the best in Jacksonville, ask to get them a little crispy. (that is the authentic way) They have a lot of Mexican beers here that you can't get anywhere else. The bar has a nice selection of Tequilas!! read more

So I came here twice. The first time I came here, it was good. Not great but good. So we decided to come again and the 2nd time around was poor. Service: they were nice. Both times they did not write down our orders (I always hate when waiters do this, why because..) they got the order wrong both times. The 2nd visit we needed an extra min and the guy forgot about us. Had to ask someone else to bring the guy over. Food: portions were big. But super bland!! No flavor. The free salsa had more flavor than anything. But steak was bone dry. It was just underwhelming. Drink: I got a strawberry margarita the first time and original the 2nd. Both were sweet and not really drinkable. Every thing else was fine. Tables were clean. It was just not worth it. Especially for the price. If imma pay $$ for stuff, it should be worth it. read more

andreas or whatever his name is was beyond rude. and no help at all. I placed my order at the wrong place and called 5 MINUTES LATER WHEN I REALIZED and sat while getting declined and having the phone ring for 20 minutes because they cant seem to get their employees to answer the phone. !!!!! finally got on the phone and the girl that originally had taken my order called for someone named andreas and he got on the phone and i explained "i placed my order at the wrong place ive been trying to call since i placed the order" he immediately goes "this isnt la nopalera" mind u they made me pay for my togo order OVER THE PHONE which ive never done before at lanop. and then he yelled at me that theres "no refunds" quite literally YELLED and i explained to him that i live 30 minutes away then he continued to raise his voice at me then hang up. this is the most absurd behavior i have EVER experienced at a restaurant and all of their employees are absolutely miserable. read more

La Napolera is walking distance from my sister's house, so it has become her usual when she's not in the mood to cook and after eating here I totally get it. It's a very low-key Mexican joint with good drink specials, a ton of food options, and a friendly staff. My partner and I met up with sis and her guy for a relaxed evening. We came in from out of town and they wanted to share one of their fave spots. The menu is huge, though not terribly specific, but they have all the classics. When it comes to drinks, margaritas are available in regular, top shelf, and Patron which is all the description you get. We went with tacos (shrimp and al pastor) while sis and her guy chose steak and chicken fajitas. Ordering a margarita was a whole conversation with the waiter as we figured out the options. Thankfully, they had Herradura Reposado which made for a smooth margarita. I just can't do tequila blanco anymore. Don't judge me tequila purists. The food was tasty and about what I expected. There was enough for leftovers, but who's going to leave tacos for tomorrow? Not me. Those bad boys were going in my belly. All in all, I dig this kind of relaxed joint with decent food and affordable prices. If I lived within walking distance I could easily see this place being my regular as well. read more

Decent Mexican restaurant but nothing too special. I went for lunch and had the fish tacos for lunch (3 for $11.99). They come with flour or corn tortillas - I ordered flour and received corn. They also come with cheese, lettuce, and pico de gallo all on the side which I liked. The fish was a bit oily but tasted pretty good with all the toppings in the taco. The portion size was good for a lunch as well. The decor in La Nopalera isn't anything crazy, like a hometown Mexican restaurant. The service was attentive and nice. I won't be rushing back any time soon but if I had to go then I might try something else like the quesabirria tacos. read more

It's just solid. Never lets us down. I've never been dissatisfied! Simple, great food.

They give u a lot for ur $$ but pretty plain. As u can see by pic, this is supposed to be a chicken taco....... is it missing a few basic ingredients? YES. I had been burrito and it was pure ground meat in a tortilla. Topped with cream and good sauce. Just need some onion, peppers etc read more

We've been here a couple of times and the food easily makes this my favorite La Nop in Jax. Quesabirria tacos, chilaquiles, and the right cheese on top of their food (it's supposed to be white and melty, not yellow and never ever queso dip...) are what differentiate it to me. Service is friendly but can be a touch slow when they're really busy, so we'll try to avoid peak hours. read more

Hands down my favorite authentic Mexican restaurant in Jacksonville. I have been eating at La Nop since college and I love it! They offer classic Mexican dishes and their prices are super reasonable. Their hot salsa is homemade and its a must try. I love their chicken quesadilla appetizer and their chicken enchiladas. The service is quick and the staff is friendly. So happy they opened a location in Bartram Park. read more

Fairly new La Nopelara Mexican restaurant location that just opened up in the Bartram area. The restaurant boast an optional outside seating area that not most La Nopelara restaurants have. The fam and I were greeted and seated right away by the hostess.     Inside the restaurant, they have 3 TVs tailored for any channel you want. Thankfully for me, they had the Jacksonville Jaguars game on all 3 TVs, enough for me to enjoy food with my family and to watch and cheer my Jags at same time.   In the middle of the restaurant, they have a Bar, surrounded by counter seats, so you too, can watch whatever is on TV. Nice, big wall art on the restaurant's side wall. The place is nice and open.   We were greeted by our waitress, Samantha. She was fast, attentive and friendly.   We ordered the following: Bistec Ranchero Enchilada & Chicken Burrito combo plate Two Taco combo plate Junior Taco Margarita   TIP for the ladies: Margaritas runs 2 for 1 until 5pm, so check with your server if this is available.   Food came out at a reasonable time. It was cooked perfectly. Food tasted like any La Nopelara joints that I have eaten from.   I would love to note and to commend Samantha for her A++ service. Despite her being our waitress, she also serve the other tables as well. She was all over the place. And she worked with a smile on her face. So we thank you Samantha.   All in all, we will definitely keep this place in mind next time we crave Mexican food and to watch Sports.   Signing out... Go JAGS!!! read more

Brand new location in the heart of Bartram Park, although this place is smaller compare to all the other La nopalera in town, it has a huge bar with a variety of mixed drinks and beers to offer. Service was decent on a Saturday night. I came in with 5 other girls and we were seated right away. Since the place is new, the waiter was a bit slow on getting us our drinks and did not check on us as often as I would like. Hopefully the service will improve after this first experience. The decor is lovely, the wall art is perfect, goes well with the theme. Open concept with a big bar in the middle, so I love that. It was pretty loud towards the end of our night when people started to pour in, so it's definitely not a place to bring young children or to sit around to mingle. The food was good, big portion for the price. I had the $10.99 chicken and beef taco salad, the chicken was cooked perfectly but the beef was definitely over cooked because it was so dried. My friend had the fish tacos, veggies and fish all served separately, which was odd. Also, the fried chimichanga is served with ground beef, so that was a let down. Overall experience was nice, we might come back whenever we crave tex-mex but this will not be my first choice. read more

Stopped in to get a simple chicken casa dia. First of all over stuffed and looked like a burrito. Sent it back and asked for the appetizer one instead. The shredded chicken needed to be wrung out as it was dripping with water or some liquid. Ate a 1/4 of it and left. Also Marguerite drink was Luke warm. I would not recommend this place to anyone. By the photo LN shows is what I expected, but the real version was not even close! I should have gone to Taco Bell and called it a night! I would not even take left over home for my dogs. read more

I was told by a colleague that La Nopalera is the best in town. So, I gave it a try. That's when I realized that my colleague had no clue what authentic Mexican food entails. Despite their tagline, La Nopalera is the least authentic Mexican restaurant I ever ever made the the mistake of visiting. I have eaten at three different locations, hoping for different results. The restaurant is less than disappointing to the level of disgusting. From a "chile relleno" that turned out to be a rectangle of bell pepper with cheese on it wrapped in aluminum foil, to a truly rancid tamale, La Nopalera is by far the worst so-called Mexican food I have ever tried. read more

Margarita was pretty good and decent price. However, they can't even make a quesadilla nor do they know the definition of quesadilla. Hardly any cheese. Was cut into triangles and runny shredded chicken. Not served with sour cream or anything. read more

We love La Nopalera in Clay county so we thought to try this one in Bartrum area. I would not go to this location again just due to the lack of food quality, time it took to get our food, & poor service. We will stick to our ones we love in Clay county. read more

La Nopalera is the first choice for any family gathering. Birthdays, celebrations, this is the place we pick for convenience and price. Plus we can get 8 people at a table! Since i have started following them on Instagram, I'm trying new dishes that I haven't tried before. This last visit I tried the shrimp fajitas, and they did not disappoint! They came out sizzling, and they were delicious with fresh shrimp, peppers, and onions. I ate those by themselves and didn't really need the tortillas or rice and beans. The margaritas are also on point and more than two will make you feel good. I can't wait to try something new next time! read more

It's a cheap chain restaurant where the servers pay more attention to the drama in their outside lives then actually serving. I now realize why I decided Don Juan's is much better than this heap of crap. Good for college students who are on a budget I suppose. Not worth your time or your money. read more

Cantina Caramba! - Lazy people who don't wanna work. - Mexican Near Me - Jacksonville, Florida

This is my first time at this location and we went on a Tuesday evening. We were seated right away. The two missing stars are for the service. The servers were friendly but random and very confusing. First we had a guy and he took our drink orders. Then a lady came by and wanted to get our drink orders, we told her the guy got them but could we get queso. She said sure. We got our waters and a pitcher of margaritas (Great deal btw!). We ordered our food with the guy. Then we waited and waited for queso. 10 minutes goes by and I can't find the guy or the lady who helped us. We finally see the lady and get queso. Then when it was time to pay we couldn't find either of them and had to flag a different server to get our bill. The margarita pitcher is a great deal if you have three or more people and it's strong! I got the California burrito and it was great. I always have half for lunch the next day. Queso is great as well. read more

Absolutely awful experience the other day. Stopped by when I saw that friends were eating at this location as my wife and I were passing by. They were on the patio by themselves so we stopped by, sat down and never once did a waiter come by. We were there 20 minutes before I went to the bar inside and ordered a Coke for myself and a Watermelon Margarita for my wife. The bartender said he'd bring them out to us. Ten minutes later, no drinks and no one brought our friend's drinks either. I went back inside and was told "oh, my nephew was supposed to bring those out." Five minutes later, we have our drinks....after 35 or so minutes. When we left, we paid and the the lady at the register asked how everything was. My response "awful service" her reply was "oh, I'm sorry." I'm never coming here again. La Nopolera has always been bad, but never this bad. read more

We went to La Nop after a long day of moving in desperate need of food and lots of drinks! The food was good and so were the drinks but the service was very slow. We all cleared our plates and of course will be back. read more
