Arroz Con Pollo

Quality and portions of the food has decreased so much over the years. This used to be my favorite mexican restaurant in Jax and now its just a waste of money to me. Ordered the Arroz Con Pollo for $15.50 and literally got the smallest serving of food. I genuinely don't know why they have decided to be so stingy in the last year or two but this was my final straw with this restaurant. Not to mention the chicken was hardly seasoned, its nothing like I remembered.

I guess my review was so long ago, I don't see it anymore. I love this place. I usually come on Wednesday night for the El Pancho menu AYCE FOR $10.99! It starts at 5pm and you have to ask for the special menu. Margarita's-perfect! My favorite is strawberry and mango frozen one. Favorite Waiters: Nadia and Augustine. Bit are good.

I was told to try Ole because they have a margarita that "only takes one" to make your evening. Haha. So yeah, I needed to try em out. The presentation was impressive but I will say since there is so much ice in it, I probably would just get the full size glass instead because the grande glass waters down pretty quick. But yeah, the food is alright. Not my first pick but definitely somewhere I will go again. I appreciate that it wasn't very greasy. Prices are decent. I'd like the guac a little chunkier.

I cant count how many times I've drove by this restaurant and wanted to stop, but didn't. Well today was different and I decided stop in. First, the entrance to the restaurant is located on the right side of the building, which can be a little confusing, but nothing major. Once I entered the restaurant, I was greeted by the waiter and led to my table. As soon as I was seated, I was given chips and salsa that was really good. I originally ordered the "favorite combo" lunch special for $8.99, which included an enchilada, chapula, burrito and a taco. However I don't eat pork and couldn't eat the refried beans on the chapula and burrito. This was totally my fault, as apparently I didn't ask nor fully read the menu before ordering. After noticing my mistake, I ordered more crunchy tacos (See picture) and these definitely weren't your average taco bell tacos. In total, I had 4 tacos and honestly I wanted to order more lol. Lastly, I would also like to mention that they have a buffet on wednesdays for $10.99. They also have specials for every day of the week (see picture).

We've been here a few times over the last few years. Our most recent trip we went for lunch over Christmas break. We were seated immediately which was a plus. The margaritas weren't very strong and tasted a lot like mixer, which is why I'm taking a star. They didn't use to be that way. Service was ok, not great, but not bad either. Lunch prices were great! Food was yummy! Would be back for lunch!

Enchiladas Especial - chicken

I haven't been to Ole' Mexican Restaurant since my children were younger; my husband worked nearby and we ate here often. So when a friend suggested it for lunch, I jumped at the chance to go. It has changed a bit, but for the better. It is a lot brighter inside and cleaner looking, but the parking lot is still very cramped and hard to navigate around giant vanity vehicles who park badly. LOL We arrived just as they opened but they already had people seated and taking orders. The waiter was pleasant but a bit harried. The complimentary chips and salsa were nice but the salsa was quite bland. My friend asked if they had a hotter one and we were given a bowl of chipotle sauce full of seeds. Odd. I ordered the Echiladas Especial (chicken) and they were very good. The chicken, all white meat, was shredded and tender with a good seasoning. The little salad with guacamole was very fresh. It wasn't a lot of food, but it was just the right amount for me. My friend ordered the half portion of Nachos Rancheros and they accommodated her request to have fajita steak (upcharge) instead of the ground beef or chicken. They also swapped the pickled jalapeños for fresh. Her plate didn't photograph well, but she was very pleased with what she received. All in all, it was a very pleasant lunch and I would definitely come back here again if I'm in this neighborhood. They have a lot of themed days with sales on different dishes that seem fun to try out.

Beer

Let me start off by saying OK yes it was Wednesday and yes, the main reason why we went here was all you can eat. We are a family that likes cold beer and cheese dip. The main reason why we picked all you can eat was that you can try different things, you don't just have to eat tacos. I have to say overall it's pretty average Mexican food or as we call it American Mexican. Cheese dip was very good and the beer was cold. The waitress was very attentive. On average when I score a place it would've been a little bit lower but we let them know when we arrive. That we only had an hour because we were going to a comedy show, they understood and took care of us so we can make it on time. Now that being said, very good place to go get chips , salsa, cheese dip and a few tacos .Now if you're expecting a certain type of a taco or certain type of chimichanga, you may wanna go elsewhere.

Not what it use to be years ago. When I was younger I would come often with my mom and dad. Quality has gone down tremendously.

Man, it was one of the best decisions I've made on the road lately! The food came out hot and fresh with that real homemade taste. The tacos were packed with flavor, the rice and beans were on point, and the portions were generous enough to fill up a hungry driver without breaking the bank. I went with the carne asada and it hit the spot perfectly - seasoned just right, not too greasy, and cooked tender. Service was quick and friendly, even when they were busy. The place has that classic hole-in-the-wall vibe (in the best way), nothing fancy but clean and welcoming. It felt like the kind of authentic spot locals would keep coming back to. Only reason it's not 5 stars is the parking can be a little tight for a big rig if you're not careful, and they don't have a ton of truck-friendly seating space. But the food more than makes up for it. If you're rolling through the area and craving real Mexican food, definitely stop in. I'll be back next time I'm in the neighborhood. ¡Muy bueno! -- Carlos, SemiTruckDriver

Service at the bar was great. Food arrived faster than expected, but I had also got there as their night was winding down. My friends and I were originally going to eat here for Cinco de Mayo, but when I got there at 6:45, I was told it would be a 3.5 hour wait. They had a DJ outside pumping out fast and upbeat music for the party and an outside margarita stand for grab and go drinks. When I arrived back just after 9, I had told them to take us off the list. She informed me that they tried calling me. Nothing came through on my phone, but she did show her call log and sure enough, it showed they called me around 8:20. My friends and I probably would have stayed to eat here originally had we been given a more realistic wait time guesstimate. An hour and a half wait vs 3.5 hours is much more feasible. Oh well. I'm sure I'll be back in the future. I've always enjoyed Anejo.

Greeted and sat right away- 5 of us. Hostess nice, server nice. Right away had two large bowls of chips and two types of salsa brought to us. Chips were good, just added salt. Unfortunately it went downhill from there. And we were patient, super patient. It was a Friday, but it was not overly crowded, like I said - seated immediately around 7:40. Drinks, took over 30 minutes for a pineapple one and three skinny- we joked the food would arrive first, but we were very wrong. Then, the waitress waited for us to try- I think it was a newer person at the bar. We tried to like it, but somehow it tasted like flat sprite.our server took them away and made us them herself. Now, those were great. Small side of guac was brought after that- meant to go with the meal, but we were so hungry we just ate with the chips. It was very good- fresh tasting. Then we waited. And waited some more. Asked about the food, then waited some more. Finally, we cut our losses and asked for the check minus the food that never came. The band was starting next door and we wanted to celebrate the bday girl. Pic 1, text just after 8pm- shows me joking that I was going to eat my friends food since she was headed over from next door and taking a bit and we had ordered 10 minutes prior. Pic 2, text shows us giving up- 9pm. So over an hour wait on food that never arrived - even if busy that would be a deal breaker. We were excited to try it too- disappointed.
