I came in for the first time, and Jamie, Sandra and I didn't Name of The Morning shift lady I just seen she rides her bike to work . Their service was exceptional. They gave me samples as many things and I ended up buying a whole dozen of bread. Breakfast and iced Coffee and I loved how clean they have it . I will definitely be coming back there with my entire family to have breakfast and coffee. 100 stars for the girls Thank You. Amazing staff

The traditional vanilla concha was good, the bread was soft! The lavender concha was extra sweet. It tasted like a regular concha and then there was added hard icing on top. It was too sweet for my taste. Service was not really memorable, the guy was just taking our order and quick with us. My coffee was bland and there is an extra charge for alternative milk. I had the cafe de Carmen- I did not like my drink at all. My husband ordered the cafe Oaxaca and it was good!! I would recommend that drink. Over all, this is not a location I would return to.

I can only speak to their food in this review as I was fortunate to find 2 of their products in my local grocery store. I purchased the Wedding cookies and the Orjietas (butter palmiers). Both were fantastic! The wedding cookies tasted like homemade- light, fresh, and lots of powdered sugar. The palmiers were light and crispy with that crunchy sugar on the outside. I made a special trip back to the store and bought all they had! I will definitely seek out a trip to the bakery next time I'm in town.

I am super impressed with the level of customer service that I experienced. I have been looking for maritozzi everywhere. La Monarca has bolitas de pan and I figured that I could cheat and fill the bread with whipped cream. Yeimi went above and beyond to help me make this happen. Gracias Yeimi! My 3 shot latte was delicious and the churro cinnamon roll was a delight.

It was late on a Thursday night and my family and I were craving Mexican sweet bread. We noticed that this bakery was open after an afternoon of shopping at the Citadel Outlets. The bakery is large, very clean and was fully stocked. The employees were very polite and friendly and immediately acknowledged us as we entered The choices were plentiful and the prices were reasonable. The bread was a tad on the hard side but very tasty. I will stop by again if and when I am in the area

Dozen Pan Dulce - $29.40 (price via Postmates July 2024)

I scheduled an order for a dozen Pan Dulce in celebration for my coworker's birthday yesterday, 7/3/2024 at 7:15AM. The order came right on time and the pastries were fresh in a catering box. Dozen Pan Dulce - $29.40 (price via Postmates July 2024) Includes: 4 mini conchas, 2 Danes, 2 cinnamon rolls, 2 taquitos, and 2 plain cuernitos - The pastries looked and tasted so delicious! - The taquitos, cinnamon roll, cuernitos had this ASMR crunch when you bit/cut into them. They lean on the sweeter side, but paired with coffee for a delicious pairing. - I also tried one the mini conchas, and it did lean a little more on the drier side but still so tasty. - Absolutely no complaints from my coworkers - they all got to enjoy and try them! - To my sweet surprise (not sure if it was a mistake or them being kind), they actually included an extra cinnamon roll, which is my favorite! I had to recount my box like 2x since it was early in the morning but I was definitely happy to see this sweet gesture! Thank you so much La Monarca! I'll definitely be back to try out more drinks and baked goods!

    Iced Cafe Oaxaca

This location is incredible!!! The staff is INCREDIBLY kind! They gave us a few samples of treats, which were all so good. The flavored conchas were amazing. We also got Iced Cafe Oaxaca drinks and the Mollete Tradicional (beans and cheese on bread). Highly recommend all! Bathrooms were very clean and restaurant itself very clean as well. Also LOVE that they have signs for what all the cookies and cakes are! (The South Pasadena location doesn't, which I never understood why not.) Definitely recommend this location! Check it out! Prices are great too!

Right when you walk in you get greeted immediately, I don't come often to la monarca so when asking about all the cakes(they have a lot) the worker had no problem telling me which was which, which was very nice. The place is clean and the cakes were delicious. If you're looking for something not too sweet, try the Dulce de leche cake!

Very good I love that they have unique blend of different coffees and flavors. I would highly recommend coming back here. There's so much more I would like to try. I did not get the sweet breads or anything to eat but the coffee itself was excellent just being different from everyone else is what makes me more likely to come back. Location was clean and staff was friendly offering recommendations

The coffee was well-made - it wasn't burnt, overly bitter, or sour, so the extraction seemed solid. However, the flavor felt flat and watered down. It lacked the aroma, body, and rich roasted notes that make a cup memorable. Nothing really stood out, leaving it tasting more diluted than satisfying. Also, I don't think the barista could froth the coffee well. Instead of a nice velvety, dense froth, the froth was a bubbly foam (see photo). Food - 3/5. I visited around 9 a.m., but the pastry selection was surprisingly limited (see photo). The pastries also didn't taste particularly fresh; they had more of the texture and flavor you'd expect from pastries sitting out later in the day rather than freshly baked items you'd hope to find early in the morning. The café has a modern, hip vibe and a warm, inviting atmosphere. It's spacious, with plenty of seating, making it a pleasant place to spend some time. Overall, Smoking Tiger Coffee Lab is a fine neighborhood café if you're looking for a comfortable place to sit and enjoy a coffee. Unfortunately, neither the coffee nor the food left much of an impression. Nothing was particularly bad, but nothing really stood out either. While the ambiance is probably its strongest point, the coffee is just average.

The owners are always welcoming, friendly, and genuinely make every customer feel at home. Their customer service is exceptional and one of the main reasons my family and I keep coming back. The food is amazing! Their chicharrón burrito is the best I've had, and the chilaquiles are always fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. Their coffee is just as impressive--they roast their own beans, make their own café de olla syrup, and you can even buy their coffee beans to enjoy at home. Every cup tastes fresh, rich, and authentic. I also love the atmosphere. The artwork throughout the shop is beautiful and gives the space so much personality. It's the kind of place where you want to sit, relax, and enjoy your coffee. Another thing I appreciate is that their prices are more affordable than many other coffee shops, especially considering the quality of the food, coffee, and service. My kids absolutely love coming here, and it's become one of our favorite family spots. If you're in Boyle Heights and looking for incredible coffee, delicious food, beautiful local art, fair prices, and some of the kindest people you'll ever meet, Picaresca is a must-visit. As for the coffee, if you like a pick me up... and a coffee that isn't sweet but strong. I suggest a refresher drink (tonics). [Parking]: Free small public parking lot directly across from the shop. [Amenities]: This is a really small coffee shop with no indoor tables and only two small outdoor tables. No restroom is available. [Menu]: Yelp's top highlighted items are the Breakfast Burrito, Teddy Bear (double espresso, agave, housemade vanilla cold foam, Teddy Grahams), and Banana Nut. All drinks are made with oat milk. Please note that the kitchen closes at 1 PM on Monday - Tuesday and 2 PM on Wednesday- Sunday even though the cafe remains open for another 1 - 2 hours. Come early for anyone wanting to try kitchen items like breakfast burrito or breakfast sandwich. *** Banana nut (double espresso, house made vanilla cold foam, house made banana syrup - medium $7.50): It came with two banana chips. The cold foam was quite underrated and I could taste a hint of banana flavor. The drink wasn't as sweet as I had expected - I liked it. Breakfast burrito (Refried beans, soyrizo, tofu scramble, crispy hashbrowns and sliced avocado wrapped in a flour tortilla - $13.50): Portion wasn't huge, but it also wasn't small enough to finish in one sitting. It had one of the softest texture for breakfast burritos. The soyrizo was very flavorful. It also came with a side of salsa - quite spicy but flavorful at the same time. *** I probably still prefer meat-based breakfast burritos, but their soyrizo breakfast burrito is quite good and the coffee drink is excellent (4.5-star for both items). I would definitely recommend this small coffee shop for a quick grab-and-go.
