I was in town for a wedding and on a free night I knew I needed to try this restaurant out. I ordered a steak burrito with guacamole and pico de gallo on the side. The food was really good. The steak was a little overcooked for my taste but it was seasoned well and mixed with lettuce, cheese, sour cream, and I remember some spicy sauce. I got the food to go so I didn't get a lot of restaurant experience. I did notice that even though the restaurant was practically empty, it still took the kitchen a long while to cook the food. It was still really good so it was worth it. I also wished that they have given me to go silverware and napkins. Such an adorable little Mexican restaurant. It was pretty busy when we went but the staff was really friendly. It's cute inside and has a few outdoor seating spots. This is the best Mexican food I have had in a very, very long time. We ordered an enchilada de queso in mole, and a veggie enchilada in tomatillo sauce. Both were exquisite bountiful. The mole was beautifully balanced (and vegan somehow!) with a gorgeous undertone of cocoa and a mix of earthy, smoky spices, all encompassed in a silky sauce. The tomatillo sauce was bright, tangy, and earthy as well. I ship you not, the enchiladas are a triumph. We had chips w guacamole and salsa as well (separate orders if I remember correctly) and they were also spot on. Finally, our server was attendant and charming. The memory of those enchiladas stayed with me all day during a hike. My husband and I were getting ready to drive half an hour back to Hudson before our long trip back home to NJ, and we were so sad to see that La Mision was closed. So we ended up going to another "Mexican" joint in Kingston. Man, we were so disappointed. The memory of La Mision will remain as the One That Got Away. I have never in my life felt the need to leave a Yelp review until today. I am currently still sitting in this restaurant in a state of absolute euphoric bliss after finishing my meal; that is the sense of urgency has pushed my to write this even before getting up and leaving. I told my party to wait until I was done with this before we left. Overall review? The enchiladas I had from this restaurant are hands down the best i've ever had in my entire life. I don't claim to be a Mexican food expert. It's my favorite cuisine and I know it varies depending on the region its food reflects and the people cooking the meals. I will say however that Enchiladas are my favorite dish of all time surpassing any other meal out there. Coming from living in Arizona most of my life, i've had my fair share of Enchiladas. I've lived in New England now for over ten years, and it's been tricky to find good Mexican food that reminds me of home. While driving back to New England from a family trip to upstate NY, we stopped in Hudson. La Mision was the first restaurant we saw and decided on a whim to go in. Everything was great from the get go. The ambiance was fun and light and our server was so kind and helpful. I knew i'd be ordering Enchiladas and saw they had a fun combination with three enchiladas with various proteins and two different sauces (Enchiladas Banderas). When the food came out, i was floored. It looked just like what I would have back home and then some. The aromas coming off were sensational and the colors- divine. This review is lengthy already so I'll try and keep the rest succinct. Each bite of my meal was pure heavenly torture. Heaven because everything came together so well; the sauces and the meats. The way the tortillas were cooked! Just divinity at its strongest. Torture simply because I knew it'd end soon enough!! I haven't even touched on the meals the rest of our party had. They all said their meals too were some of the best they had; from the fish tacos and special of the day birria to the chicken nachos, we were all truly blown away. I'm so happy that we found this restaurant and while Hudson is many hours away from where I live, I will make the trip back up simply to taste this dish again. read more

Decided to stop here for a bite to eat after a long drive. My husband ordered the steak fajitas and I ordered the steak tacos after asking which our server would recommend, pork or steak tacos. My husband specified no cilantro for my tacos, which our server repeated and confirmed. The restaurant was pretty empty since we came later in the afternoon, only one other table aside from us, so our food came out very fast. The fajitas came out first. Unbelievably, IMPOSSIBLY dry and tasteless. Cooked to death. You just keep chewing and chewing until it turns into a mound of hard, crumbled meat in your mouth. I spat it out onto my napkin. The opposite of what juicy, tender, moist steak should be. My husband was equally appalled and disappointed. The peppers were good. My tacos came out next. With cilantro. We pointed out to our server that we had asked for no cilantro and he apologized and brings it back to the kitchen. Comes out 2 minutes later with the same plate with just the cilantro picked off by the kitchen staff, explaining, "They picked out the cilantro." Going through my tacos, I spent a couple more minutes picking out the remaining bits. As for the taste, they were equally as bad as the fajitas. Dry, hard, and tough. I powered through one taco and went through another half, spitting out bites of steak every so often, before deciding it wasn't worth it. My husband didn't finish his food either. We were on the road for hours and neither of us finished our food despite being quite hungry. My husband had high hopes for this place due to the reviews and the Spanish people working in the front, but both of us were left thinking during our meal how in the world this place managed to get good reviews. The service was fine (peeved about how they handled mistakenly adding cilantro), bathroom was clean, but the food, specifically the steak (which was recommended by our server) was horrendous. Made our way over here when it first opened on a Saturday afternoon for an early lunch. Seating both indoor and outdoors, but no canopy to protect from the sun, so decided to take a table inside. Like many of the other restaurants in the area, the menu is more expensive than you would like. Nonetheless, we did get some free chips/salsa to start while we were deciding on food. Settled on the Beef Enchiladas ($16) to go along with a Pineapple Margarita ($14). Drink comes out first - a pulpy pineapple juice with a strong amount of tequila mixed in; definitely hit the spot while munching on the chips. Enchiladas come out within 15 minutes - two well stuffed rolls covered in a tangy tomatillo sauce, salsa, and sour cream. Meat is a little greasy, cut well by the tomatillo sauce and sour cream. Tortillas were not stale and not too much cheese inside that it overwhelms. Well balanced overall, would want to pick the rioja sauce next time for a better kick. Great service as the one waitress working the place was able to get to everyone without missing a beat. Worth the visit here if looking for a Mexican option on the street. read more

First and last! My husband and I just ate here as last minute idea as we drove through Hudson. My husband ordered a Quesadilla with chicken which was tasty and what he ordered. My order was a disaster. I ordered a Chimichanga. It was on the menu stating cheese, onions, peppers, rice and beans. I added chicken to my request. A side of rice and beans come with it along with a smidge of guacamole and salsa. When my lunch came it was very disappointing. It was a fried tortilla with rice and beans!! No cheese, veggies or chicken. When we brought it to our waitresses attention her response was, " well, you ate half!" I had eaten two bites before I discovered it was missing everything! Finding La Mision was a dream come true for this born and raised Southern California girl! I headed down to Hudson on a rare 50 degree February day for the farmer's market, and my partner suggested we stop here for lunch. The walls are painted bright colors, the staff was friendly and quick, and I was in heaven. We started with their standard margaritas, which were perfectly made. For food, we split a pupusa, which was DELICIOUS- having lived with a Salvadorian woman for two years, I know my pupusas, and this one was to DIE for. Next, we enjoyed tacos and enchiladas, both of which were absolutely amazing (see pix- seriously so good). Meh. Totally mediocre. We had takeaway - a burrito, tacos, a quesadilla, tortilla soup, and chips. It was fine - they have shredded chicken which is a big plus for me. Otherwise nothing noteworthy. I probably wouldn't have written a review except I'm very annoyed that they only gave us one tiny plastic thing of salsa for all three meals. I asked for more and they said it is $4 per little tiny cup of salsa. One per order and the additional ones are FOUR DOLLARS. I paid for it and got in my car and showed my husband the $4 salsa and he pointed out IT WASN'T EVEN FULL (see pic)! It was also kind of sweet and yucky, to add insult to injury. I know it's COVID but I can't think of a place with less accommodating customer service than this place. It's unfortunate because the food was tasty with vegan offerings. My husband and I have worked in restaurants and customer service jobs our whole lives but every interaction with the staff was met with attitudes; sometimes really stern responses and it was throughout the seating process, questions regarding ordering, asking for cutlery which wasn't included in our takeout order, etc. I feel for those in service industry and often give them the benefit of the doubt especially with COVID but I was so irked by this whole encounter especially since we have barely eaten out since the pandemic and thought we'd give it a try while traveling. A small amount of consideration from the hostess and servers for a family with small children would have gone really far. So sad to have to write this. read more

This is a very solid Mexican place in the heart of Hudson! Food was very tasty. The rice and beans that came with each of our orders was wonderful. Seasoned well. The chips and salsa were also really nice. No complaints with the food either. We had some very nice burritos! The issues really come with the service. We placed a takeout phone order for a chimichanga and tacos, and didn't open the food until we got to our destination and turns out that even though the name on the order matched, we got totally wrong food. Inside was a pair of burritos with the meat choices we gave on the phone. This was strange especially since the gentleman on the phone parroted back the proper order. Plus the wait was LONG. Upwards of 45 minutes. Despite the fact that the restaurant was not all that busy. So recently my wife and I were taking part in the Yelp! Big Night In with trivia from Hambones trivia; and we weren't sure what to get? We searched and pondered the great yelposphere searching for ideas as we typically do when we want to try something new or unusual. And "bam!"; we found this cool little spot! Now not sure how much other reviews may go into detail about the quality of the food; but let me say it is definitely delicious! First off I have to highlight the house made tortilla chips and the smokey chipotle salsa that they come with. Excellent crunch, fresh flavor, just that little hit you in the back of your tongue smokey heat. Just writing about it has me salivating for chips and salsa ‍ Moving on past that; I have to highlight the chicken burrito. Delicious flavor! Packed with fresh grilled strips of chicken breast that are juicy and yet tender that they fall apart as you bite into them. Mixed in with some delicious rice and black beans making the perfect burrito. What's not highlighted are the tacos that my wife had. She said they were excellent! And I can attest to this since on our SECOND visit, I had to check out the taco situation for myself. I opted for a classic fish taco. And they certainly did not disappoint! Light crispy bits of fried fish mixed with a beautiful melange of peppers and red cabbage made them stand out and sing on my taste buds. But I can't forget the amazing habanero sauce that came with them to really set it off! Each meal did come complete with hits own order of rice and beans completing the whole dinning experience from the comfort of our own home. I can't forget to mention about the amazing cocktails that we had as well! We both chose to keep it authentic with a couple of margaritas; I chose mango and my wife had strawberry. Now I've had a few in my day and these were definitely made with some top shelve tequila blanco for sure. As soon as you took a small sip, you could immediately taste the flavor of the tequila and the cocktail as well. So you know it was well mixed and didn't skimp on the alcohol either. Overall price point wasn't bad. A modest price point for 2 meals including drinks. Would like to come back when the restaurant is open for normal business and see how they handle sit down orders as opposed to just take out. Great food for a decent price!
