We enjoyed exceptional house margaritas and a tasty, freshly made guacamole which was made to order for us without onions. Our entrees were very good. Came for lunch with my SIL before our run over to Joann's. Started with the usual free chips and pico de gallo but the star in my eyes is the refried beans. It's just so good! I love refried beans! Next I ordered the Combo #2 with a chicken enchilada and a pulled pork chimichanga with rice and refried beans. Both items stuffed full of meat and delicious. The sauce on the enchilada was good and the chimichanga was covered in a cheese sauce. I only tasted a little and scrapped the rest. Not because it was bad, I just can't handle too much cheese! When you come into this little Rancho you'll for sure come out Alegre :p We accidentally came here trying to go to Taco Bell after giving up in Hudson with everything saying it closes at 9 and they actually stop serving food at like 8:30pm. When it's after 9, you're starved, need food, will be hangry.. there's only one place to go to besides the one with the bell right in the same plaza. For a fun, Tex-Mex, feed me tacos and tell me I'm pretty, kinda night: Mi Rancho Alegre is the spot. The place was empty when we walked in and we were greeted with a welcoming smile and quickly seated to the best booths in the house. Drink menu was missing prices but honestly you're in for a great time here! We ordered jalapeño baby ritas and there was nothing baby about these babies! Our friend got the regular ritas and it's a supersize me life size drink perfect for two! Before we were even offered water or anything they already were feeding us with on the house chips and salsa. My kinda place! We each ordered entrees to share as they have pretty large portions and those spinach and cheese enchiladas were something else. Absolutely cheesy and deliciously paired with rice and beans. The beans and rice were both bland. The guacamole was average. The meat was cooked very well; we had chorizo, steak, and chunks of beef included in our various dishes (potato skin nachos, burrito fajita & Chile Colorado. Our waitress behaved as if she did not want to serve us. Another waitress, Jessica, took pity on us and took our food order. The service to begin with was terrible. They tried to seat us next to the bathroom during a very empty lunch service. The waitress was a bit rude and dismissive. The menu is overstimulating, and as a person with ADHD, I found it hard to focus and decide what I wanted. This doesn't not happen often. I had to flag down another waitress to ask a question about the menu, she was kind and went above and beyond. She answered all my questions and gave suggestions. Over all the food was meh. The beans and rice were flavorless. The meat was the star of the show in my dish and my friends dish. I had the classic margarita and it was very tasty. Their margaritas are also really good, especially the kiwi strawberry frozen one. Update as promised: added a star! The food is still good, the Marg was fine, but I have to say it was the service that did it for me. I didn't get our waiter's name, but he was PHENOMENAL - he brought crayons and a kids menu for our 2 year old before we were even fully settled, he took and delivered his order first, he brought over a stack of napkins....clearly not his first rodeo! He also made sure the hot plates were set out of my kiddo's reach and always engaged with my little guy. When our son was done being there, he hustled over takeouts and the check. This guy GETS it. It's not always easy to be out with toddlers and our waiter made lunch a pleasure. We weren't his only table, and we were in the back dining area, so this guy was running laps! The ambiance is nice, and the music was awesome. Leans a little to the hip hop side, but that works for me! (My kid was dancing too!) Again - the queso is great. We'll be back, and often. read more

The decor is traditional Mexican with seating at the bar, hi-top tables & nice oversized booths. Located next to Staples in the Columbia Center, Mi Rancho Alegre is a casual Mexican restaurant and bar serving up a good variety of the standard and specialty Mexican dishes, mixed drinks, 10 beers on tap, and desserts. They don't have a lunch specials menu here, just one big menu with pictures of the food and drinks served here. The prices are fair to moderate. The dining room and bar section are fairly cozy with festive background music over the speakers. I stopped in here around lunch time and the place was steady busy. I was seated promptly at a high top table in the bar area. Complementary chips, mild salsa, and a refried bean dip with pico de Gallo and cotja cheese was brought out as I looked at the menu. The server came back in about 5 minutes with a glass of ice water with lemon, he read my mind! I decided on the Mi Rancho Chimichanga with Shredded Beef ($13.99 plus tax), which a big plate came out very hot in 4 minutes after ordering, wow!!! The portion of food was very generous which had a deep fried chimichanga stuffed with great amounts of soft dense marinated shredded beef topped with queso. Lettuce, sour cream, diced tomatoes, soft Mexican rice and refried beans with cheese were on the same plate. I was hungry coming in and I barely finished this big plate of food, so I had to decline the dessert offer from my friendly server. I did have to watch out for flies near my table since I was sitting close to the entrance of the place. The check came out to $15.11 with tax and before tip. The food here is 10/10 I really didn't expect much from here since I was just visiting the area but was pleasantly surprised. The drinks were delicious and the food was even BETTER. Even their salsa alone was a hit, and actually had spice ! I got the Bistek La Mexicana and the Pastor Tacos. The portions are huge so definitely worth the price. I came on a Monday at lunch time so hit a sweet spot and only paid $26 for a drink and a meal and a desert! I would recommend all of the above, especially the flan which was rich and sweet. The ambiance is that of a casual, family owned Mexican restaurant and ther service matched that. The space is large, clean, inviting, colorful, fun, and gives off that perfect "you're about to get comfy and indulge on chips and ginormous margaritas" vibe. The staff is absolutely delightful, welcoming, friendly, attentive, and seem genuinely happy you're there. The complimentary chips were fresh, delicious, hearty, and accompanied by flavorful fresh salsa and a bean dip. The menu is huge, lots of traditional favorites, and includes a wide variety of beverage options. We went with the cucumber margarita and the mezcalrita. Both were large and tasty! With plenty of vegetarian options to choose from (which could easily be made vegan), we both chose the Fast Burrito. It was fast... and enormous! It was prepared perfectly, authentically, and was delicious. We had plenty of leftovers for midnight snacking too. We were really impressed with our experience and wish these folks all the success! We were seated immediately and our drink order was taken first, which, naturally, consisted of two margaritas, which served ice cold in salted, heavy glasses, and they were excellent. The waiter was very friendly and helpful. The food was excellent. The portions were huge. The prices were reasonable, and we enjoyed the experience immensely.
