Last night in Tivoli pre-show dinner. I decided to forgo the usual Mexican rice and bean fare for the special of the evening ; a halibut filet smothered in a colorful and tasty salsa of mango, pomegranate arils and jalapeño. It was served with rice and string beans. I was so glad that I did. Delicious ! The service was good and the hibiscus margarita cocktail was a nice change of pace. Kudos to the chef ! read more

I think really it came down to price and being able to compete with a similar product. We got take out one evening for the whole family. So we had lots of options. Barbacoa taco was really tasty. Good meat. Good accoutrements decent size for the price. If I could do it over I would get crispy shell. I felt the online menu posted on the website does not really show all the shell choices. Steak quesadilla was fairly priced which is why I got it. I liked the fillings even though I thought it was a little small. Should I be forced to come back id get the kids chicken tacos. The chicken was really tasty and loaded full. I didn't try but the enchilada people loved their enchiladas. Good use of vegetables inside. I liked the texture of the flan. It's a little tricky to get right so I can respect. Honestly I like my flan on the firmer side which it was. Margaritas are really strong. I get why they do half pitchers because full ones would definitely be finishers. Ingredients are fresh but honestly a little underwhelming. Overall the meal was decent enough but way overpriced. Possibly could be a case of it being 2025 though. read more

This rosendale spot has a really cool ambiance inside and love the option for outside seating. I feel a bit conflicted writing a review since I've never enjoyed a traditional burger here but some other highs and lows to mention anyways! The brussel sprouts app and the cauliflower wings were amazing, great flavor and good spice level. I had a veggie burger over the wedge salad which I thought was very lackluster. The chicken and fish sandwhich look much more exciting which my table enjoyed more. The French fries were dynamite with crisp edges and good seasoning! The service on a Friday night with a near empty restaurant was very bleh. I think I'd give Santa Fe another try! read more

It was not right that after the 5 person family dinner, the dessert menu said our flan and creme brulee, which was not good, was $9 each. However the bill that I paid showed that each was $10. The waitress did nothing when I pointed out the discrepancy. We have been regular customers before, but now I feel I don't want to take people there anymore, or recommend the place as I did before to neighbors. This is terrible customer service. read more

Wonderful restaurant! The innovative frozen margaritas (I had guave) are delicious and not overly sweet. The spicy Cauliflower Buffalo "Wings" were yummy. Staff were very friendly. Guacamole was pretty good, served with cucumber, lettuce, and chips. It's not cheap but also not unreasonable. Definitely worth checking out. read more

We were regulars. But the food has changed and not for the better. Last evening we went and I ordered the strip steak. Very disappointing! The steak was dry and quite frankly tasteless. Even before COVID-19 Emily and her team did a great job of serving up non-traditional Mexican food in a fun atmosphere. The food...excellent. The drinks...top notch. The staff...amazing! Taco Tuesday and Wednesday Wing Night are not to be missed (6 sauces to choose from - traditional or cauliflower...WHAT???) During the quarantine - Emily and her team continued to deliver...well...do take out. We drove 30 min. each way to continue getting our wings - the wings and service are that good. Now that things are starting to get back to "normal" we're enjoying their new outside dining area. The food is still awesome...the service still stellar - and they are working harder than ever with masks and increased sanitation. This is one of those businesses that really rolled with the changes - and continued to deliver EXCELLENCE. Give them a visit! This has become a very busy place. Staff has always been attentive. We always pick a table up front with a window view of the street, seems to be quieter even though it is across the bar. Food has always been good. Our menu choices have so far been wonderful. read more

Terrible table service. Took 20 minutes to get a drink ordered and 20 more to actually receive it. I can safely say it was the worst Cadillac Margarita I've ever had. Pretty much tasted like pure shitty booze. Replaced it with a Modelo on trap and it was flat as water. Took 45 minutes to get the food. And here we go again...... without a doubt the worst fish taco I've ever tasted. Or should I say not tasted, because there was no taste. No salt, no heat, no acid. Just blan SHIT. Huge pass for us. I get upset when certain Latin food restaurant have a two dollar sign price range but this place makes sense. The food ingredients were a higher quality options and fresh. We have been eating at Santa Fe in Tivoli for 15 years at least. It's amazing how they maintain their food quality and service. Went tonight, a super busy Saturday with a big private party, no negative effect. Service was excellent, food was fabulous. Shout outs to tuna apilar appetizer, also fish and short rib tacos, everything was terrific. And 3G Margarita straight up is a drink to die for. Never disappoints. read more

My wife, Laurie & I went out this Friday evening for a date night together. We went to one of our favorite restaurants, Santa Fe in Tivoli, N.Y. We were immediately greeted by our Hostess Emily, who greeted us with a smile & showed us to our table. Our Waitress, Lindsey started us off with a couple of Margaritas that our Bartender Matt made that were delicious !! We started out with homemade chips with salsa that sets the pace for our delicious dinner. I also had the black bean soup which was off the charts flavor !!. Laurie ordered The Vegan salad & I ordered the special Arugula salad with duck. All of the flavors in the duck salad which included toasted walnuts with infused flavors of salt & peppers also watermelon radishes & pears set the pace for this amazing dish !! All of the flavors worked together like magic. For dessert I had a double espresso & pumpkin ice cream, the perfect ending for this wonderful dinner at this Wonderful restaurant with so many Great people who work there that make you feel as if you were in your own home. 3.4/5 If you're looking for Mexican food around this area, this is the spot! Came here for a weekday afternoon after working near by, and it wasn't crowded. The bartender is great and I was impressed by how many different types of tequila cocktails that they offered. I had two and both were great! Chips and salsa were decent as well. Now let's talk about the bad: The guacamole doesn't feel any special. Some dishes that we had were pretty standard as well. Nothing stands out to me. I didn't enjoy the servers chitchatting in the kitchen instead of focusing on their services. Overall, I'd still recommend this place if you're around the area, but don't expect the most amazing Mexican food here. However if you come with the expectation on grabbing a few decent bites and great tequila drinks, this is the place for you! read more

Wow. What a surprise. I eviscerated this place three years ago, and I haven't been back until we discovered this was the only place open with A/C on a Tuesday night (Traghaven take note). My husband noticed my hesitating at the door, but, my goodness, I am glad we went in. The food was hot and delicious. The fish tacos had a lovely light char on the taco, the side salad was dressed well and actually a salad, not just plate decor. The only very little bit of critique was the margarita was not good enough for a $6 drink, and the habanero hot sauce is tooooo much. The verde hot sauce was plenty hot. Skip the habanero sauce unless you're into daring people to eat stuff. Well done, Santa Fe. I'll be back regularly if you can feed us like this again. read more

Firstly, let me say that the food is prettyv good at Santa Fe in Tivoli, but it's not only about the food. I understand that there is a pandemic going on. It's tough on the restaurants & it's tough on the patrons. That said, we're all in this together aren't we? Came in to the restaurant about 15-20 minutes before closing. The maitre d made it clear over and over again that they would be closing in 15 minutes. Made us intentionally feel very unwelcome. Next, we asked to be seated on the front porch. Here's where it gets really bad! She actually lied & told us that the front porch is only for to-go orders. We come here all the time, it's just a lie, we've eaten out there a few times in the past couple of weeks! Next, She told us the only seating is under the tent outside. Another lie. When we got to the tent, we asked the woman if we could sit inside. She said sure. Next we go back inside & ask the maitre d to be seated inside next to the kitchen. Here comes the next lie. "We use this space for a staging area". BS! There are lpeople sitting there. I saw a couple get up and leave while we were headed to the back. We come here all the time and support the Restaurant. My first visit to Santa Fe in several years did not live up to past expectations. But I think those past expectations may have been affected by several pitchers of frozen strawberry margaritas before and during my dinners. With our reservation on a busy evening, we were seated on time, and given chips and salsa immediately, but our waitress did not appear for 10 minutes, and we had to ask for water. When we got our drinks - similar but not identical margaritas, we had to assume the waitress got it right, because they looked and tasted the same. When we got the bill at the end of the evening, I discovered we did in fact get identical margaritas, and mine was the one that was wrong. Fortunately, it was okay and the same price. The tricolor chips were good as usual. The salsa did not taste fresh. It at least needed more cilantro. The refill was even less palatable. It tasted like it might have been out of a jar, or maybe even made with canned tomatoes? Sorry, I've had fresher salsa at many places. Our appetizer, a shrimp and spinach quesadilla, was quite tasty. But instead of a full quesadilla made from 2 tortillas and cut into 8 pieces, it was made from 1 tortilla folded over and cut into 4 pieces. And it was served with CANNED jalapenos??? When I first started coming to Santa Fe in the 1980s, I thought the food was quite tasty and innovative. It feels like they have not kept up with the times, and in fact the cuisine is extremely simple. The sides with my entree were plain white rice garnished with plain black beans and a dollop of sour cream. It was, for me, very bland. With so many more interesting and/or nouvelle Mexican options in the area, Santa Fe is not a draw for me the way it was in the past. read more

The jalapeño's were moldy. The water glasses (all 4) had food in them. The menus were sticky and so was the table. We ended up canceling our order. Santa Fe is delicious, staff is kind and personable, and in this crazy covid-era, they have been safe, clean and efficient. I sat in the back tent this summer with a friend who is also very cautious (her only eating experience since the epidemic)- and she had a wonderful time. Get the cauliflower. And the guacamole. It was my second time visit the Tivoli town as a work and me and my co-workers ate both of times we were there for dinner. The food was good and potion was big enough as a price. inside the restaurant is big but a bit dark for me but good for the group to sit more then 5-6 people and have a parking space behind the restaurant. thought service was nice enough but you may wait your food will come if you there the busy dinner time or weekend. read more

A short Santa Fe dating/break-up/make up story. Five or so years ago, my beau and I were here twice a week. Loved the staff, the food, and the vibe. But, something went awry. It slowly, well, fell apart. The food started to change - and not for the good. The staff turned over and the newbies were sloppy and inattentive. The place started looking dusty and dumpy. There was a bad vibe. So we stopped cold turkey for a couple of years. Then, someone prodded us to give it another try about a year and half ago. We did. The staff is fabulous! The food is so delicious - even better than before. The energy is upbeat and positive. We're back in the fold and there at least once a week, often more than that. This is a sad day. I used to live in Tivoli and this place was an absolute staple, and around three years ago this would have been a five star review! But now everything has changed, ever since being bought by a new person it seems everything has changed. And it doesn't help that they took my favorite meal off of the menu. The steak skewers and fried plantains are now gone and with them, so too is my love for the restaurant. They have also jacked up the price of everything on the menu which just serves to ruin it even further. I really do wish this place would go back to the way that It was just three years ago, and if the new management ever does come across this review, please, please, just go back to the way that it was before and this review instantly becomes a five star one. read more

Honestly, I was very hesitant to take my family here after seeing the reviews and now looking back I'm SO happy we came! This place had an amazing menu that was perfect for a family of vegan, vegetarian, and pescatarians. We started with the cocktails, I had a mango jalapeño margarita on the rocks and the spice level was perfect! Two other people in the party had blended margaritas and they seemed to separate but the rest of the drinks were great. Now on to the food, the black bean soup I had was awesome and some family members that had the side salad (which was big enough to be a full dish) said it was the best they had ever had! The shrimp and stuffed peppers were a hit as well! And to finish we had the churro cheesecake which for me was the BEST PART OF THE MEAL. And although young, the servers were very attentive and sweet. Overall I would say it is a hit! Ross G and I both went to school there so I think we are going to be the only two reviewing this place. Stiff drinks, check! Mexi goodness, check! One of the chefs asked me out in my final half year stint there, sadly I didnt go- he seemed to old for me, and I was ditching out in a couple of months anyway. Crap! I totally should have gone! Chefs are sooo hip now!! Oh well, he bought my dinner anyway!! UPDATE: Just went back after 10 years and the place SUCKS. My bf and I tried as hard as we could to dr. up the salsa with cilantro salt pepper lime and hot sauce but it came down to really shitty tomatoes! We won't be going back. Food was just not tasty. Ordered Plantains for an appetizer...awful. Sent them back and luckily it was taken off our bill. My friend ordered the wings, a special that looked great and everyone in the restaurant was eating them. Super salty and the "spicy" sauce was not spicy at all.
