My daughter and grandmother came for a nice lunch date after celebrating several achievements. We were seated enjoying our time, socializing ect. Then we order our food (plate of enchiladas, tacos, flautas with bean and rice) it was delicious tasting, with a side of Margarita's. The awful experience was at the end when the (Senior older man who's known as the owner of the restaurant came up to our tablet asking for our check he was grumpy and rude. He made us feel like we owe him something). My grandmother and I were very confused by his reactions and felt uncomfortable. Due to the owners service we are no longer returning. As we looked around the environment we noticed his sweet servers look terminated by him -older man who is the owner.- Couldn't get his name. Went for lunch during the middle of the week. Place wasn't crowded but we ordered take out at the front desk. Food (Carne AsadaBurrito) came out lightening quick, like super fast. We were kinda taken back how fast it was. Took the burrito back to our work place and saw the burrito was HUGE and came with a healthy portion of chips and two small cups of salsa. Chips were ok, salsa was better than average but the burrito, although extremely large was just ok. Meat was nonexistent and cut into tiny little pieces. I am so glad this local favorite survived the Covid lockdown. For authentic Mexican fare, this is the place to go in Milpitas. Owned by a local family, the menu hasn't changed over the years. That's a good thing. The fajitas are one of the more popular dishes, but I love the nolé enchiladas. I wish I could comment on the other food, but I can't pass up the rich flavors of the molé. What I can say about the other dishes is that my companions always enjoy their food. And it always looks delicious. Interestingly enough, the taco salad came in a tostada bowl, and the salad on a plate with a tortilla/flat tostada (?) underneath the greens. The waiter explained this is how they do it. Ok. Came here after a baseball game to grab an early dinner. The place was about a third full. We were promptly seated, the server was very friendly and helpful, and answered our questions well. We had the Chicken Mole Burritos and one of the combination dinners. This has been the "go to" place for Mexican food for us for years. Even though we no longer live in the Bay Area, we make sure we get our fix when in town or passing through. The salsa and chips are always fresh and delicious. My favorite beef tostada is a must as well as the shredded chicken tacos. We always take an entree to go for an at home delight. (Chicken enchiladas or pork tamales) The service is friendly, fast, and efficient, checking in periodically to see everything is going well. La Milpa is our favorite sit down Mexican restaurant in the area. They offer enchiladas montadas - which are served flat with a fried egg on top. That's the way my mother used to make enchiladas, so it's a bit of home for me. Their salsas are both really good and the rest of the food quality is excellent. My son loves the fajitas and the chile colorado is also quite good. The decor and ambiance are just what you'd expect although they can get pretty busy on the weekends. read more

Very rarely do you find Mexican restaurants that serve ground beef as one of their meat options and this spot doesn't disappoint you. Ordered the ground beef enchiladas and was served with rice and beans and salad. It was so delicious and not greasy at all. Another lunch spot near my work and have gone here a couple of times so far. Oh and did I mention they are very fast for take out orders? Yes!! I was told 15 minutes but I got my meal in less than 5 minutes. This is not your ordinary taqueria take out joint. I was fooled and thought it was. This is a nice sit down mexican restaurant. As we entered we were generously greeted by the staff. She escorted us to the table and went over the menu with us. She came back shortly with chips and dip. The menu had a wide variety of options. I went with the carnitas plate. I thought the pork was going to be shredded and fried but it was the opposite. It was large pieces that appeared to have been slow cooked. I shredded them myself when i received my plate. The meat was extremely tender and had pretty good taste to it. Some parts of the pork was a tad dry but if i had to choose, i would rather have my carnitas the original style. We went here the other week and enjoyed another delish dinner, albeit take-out due to Covid-19. We ordered Chicken Enchiladas Montadas, a Chicken Burrito and Chicken Enchilada plate, a Chicken Enchiladas plate with double rice and a Chicken Tostada. We also received two bags of chips and both salsas. The food is always very good and they don't skimp on their portions. The chips were nice and crispy and both salsas are good. read more

We actually came before COVID times so this review is based on our experience before COVID when indoor dining was allowed. We came on a weekday evening for dinner and were seated immediately because they were not too busy. I ordered the cheese enchilada with red sauce and with rice and beans. The enchilada was pretty good. It is not the best enchilada I have had. The sauce was a little runny and not as thick as I have had at other places. Also, one interesting thing was that there were peas in the rice. This is very different than the traditional Mexican rice. Service was friendly and prompt. Our server was attentive and answered all of our questions. This place is located in a shopping center with other businesses but parking is pretty easy to find. Overall, the food wasn't too bad. Just when I thought La Milpa couldn't get any better. I recently had a bad experience with Grub Hub and my order was incorrect. I didn't know what to do other than take my order back to La Milpa. I've been going here for over easily 25 years now and have always had nothing but great service. Ramon is the best. He explained to me what happened through Grub Hub and that they have had similar problems in the recent past. Needless to say he took care of me. Went to La Milpa for a Saturday dinner with my wife. There was plenty of parking outside. In the first look, it looked small from the outside but had large dining area inside. Seemed like a hidden gem. The ambiance was perfect and was giving us the vibes of an authentic Mexican food place. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. We were served chips and salsa with the menu. The quality of chips wasn't as expected. They were little hard and oily. There were 2 types of salsa - regular chunky salsa, my favorite and the salsa in sauce form which was good but lacked the salt. We ordered chicken burrito, tortilla soup and enchiladas. The soup was flavorful but there were big chunks of bland chicken pieces and didn't taste great. Same with burritos, huge and bland chicken pieces. The enchiladas were just great. Two out of three people were sick within hours of eating here. Food was cold, and heard another table send food back for same reason. Service is good but that doesn't make up for cold food. Food is prepared in advance and just plating cold food and not heating it up causing bacteria to grow. Also don't walk to the bathroom and look in the kitchen I wanted to barf it smelled and looked so dirty. If I went to the restroom before eating I would have left and not ate there. Disgusting how dirty and smell was. Prices have went up and for the quality of the food it is not worth the product they give you. read more
