Food was great! I like that you order your food as you come in and then find a spot to sit. When you are done, you get up & go! Also, if you are with a group of people, you can pay for your own meal & no need to figure out who owes what. Back to the food. I got the green enchiladas with chicken. The sauce was very flavorful & they didn't skimp on the cheese. Beans & rice were also delicious! My friends got the camarones a la diabla and camarones al mojo de ajo. I got one shrimp from each and they were great too. The one downer was that the tortilla chips were average. They serve menudo all week long. I am anxious to try it. I will definitely be back! read more

I've come here for veggie burritos a few times and they have always been solid! Good size and well-layered so each bite is tasty, and the food is pretty reasonably priced. You get the option to have it spicy or mild and I always pick spicy (which is not particularly hot for my palate), and they provide you with a red or green sauce to add at your leisure. I've only ever dined in here. You order first at the register and then find a seat in the restaurant. Typically there's plenty of room. Chips and salsa are provided and I recall them being solid as well. There's no need to bus your table afterward, though I have done it unknowingly before. A reliable spot in Alviso! read more

This looked like a local hole in the wall place. Food was good and service was good too. Me and the whole family all got something different. My son got the monster burrito wet extra spicy. It was pretty spicy so if that's your thing this is perfect. It's a big place with plenty of seating. Went on a Monday and they definitely get a lunch crowd. I would definitely try this place again. read more

This is the place for tacos. They used to have the truck next door at the market but another business called Las Grullas has that spot. So, for the best tacos, you now come into the brick and mortar Tacos de Oro next door. The perfect red salsa, perfectly grilled tortillas, and fresh meat all lead to the best taco in SCC. read more

Ordered the steak quesadilla to go, and it was smaller in size than what I've gotten in the past here, served on a paper plate wrapped and covered with foil. The carne asada was juicy, but the flavor of the meat was lacking, and the mild green sauce was hardly noticeable. The fresh veggies went well with the dish, making it a satisfying enough meal, but nothing noteworthy. Service was more than sufficient with only one other customer inside 30 minutes before closing time, and I was in and out in no more than 10 minutes. This wouldn't be my first choice for mexican food in the south bay, but it was convenient for me on a Saturday afternoon, so I'm grateful to have a restaurant like this so close to home, a casual spot with indoor seating, quick service, and decent menu options. read more

Menudo served daily? Sign me up! Menudo widely believed to be a powerful hangover cure. So now you can really let loose!!! The tacos were awesome as well! It's located in the small town of Alviso at the southern tip of the Bay. But well worth the trip to get some good tacos and a bowl of menudo! read more

It's a bit mediocre and inconsistent. Thought this place was ok before, but was really disappointed today. Granted, I ordered doordash today but I don't live far. Burrito was soggy and loose and difficult to eat. Ordered a side of queso and it was just a plate of shredded cheese. Also chips and salsa are extra, but they only give you small containers at salsa that at other taco places you can load up for free. read more

I called ahead to ask and confirm if they sold REGULAR SIZED bean and cheese burritos. They said yes, and that it would be $8 plus tax. Cool. I got there, ordered my burrito to which the cashier said it wasn't on the menu and had to ask one of the other workers to clarify. She comes over, puts the order in, and I paid a little over $10 after tip. I wait a few minutes for my burrito, and I get the smallest, kid-sized burrito. I paid almost the same price as other burritos, and I get the smallest burrito ever? I looked at other plates to see if it wasn't just me, and everyone else had big burritos. The lady in the glasses assisting me said that that was the only burrito size they had and she couldn't do anything about it. She then asked me if I wanted to order anything else (out of my own pocket). I consumed the burrito in less than a couple of minutes, ate all the chips because I was still starving and left. As a Mexican, I usually would never leave a bad review for a place I was trying to support. But I feel very wronged, and am still starving after this visit. Bad service. read more

This was such a fun experience trying the restaurant. We came at the beginning of lunch when there were a few people here and there, and soon after, the place was bustling with people! The servers were very polite and friendly and the atmosphere was warm and pleasant. I wanted to try so many foods, but I ended up with the Carne Asada plate which comes with flour or corn tortillas on the side. At first bite, this was the juiciest and savory carne Asada I ever had! The rice was a nice touch too. I opted out the beans because I cannot eat beans, but just want to let you know that's an option, too. I do wish this dish came with more radishes or vegetables, but overall this was definitely flavorful and worth the price. Will visit again! read more

We went to go to the driving range near this restaurant, and the waitlist was about two hours, so we seen this little place and decided to go in. Very authentic little place with a very nice staff. Of course I got the Carnitas super burrito. When it was brought out to us my first thought was it looked a little small. But what it was lacking in size it definitely made up with flavor. I thought it was absolutely delicious all the way around. My date got a taco salad and I did try some of it, she ordered grilled chicken in it. Again, the flavor was great. I could've finished what she didn't. Lol. If you ever in the area I recommend stopping in, especially if you have a wait at Topgolf. unfortunately, I did not get no pictures read more

Loved the homemade jalapeno and sauces. Location: Abbott and Calaveras Blvd . 76 gas station. read more

My daughter and recently visited this quaint town as it had been a life long dream of mine. Why a lifelong dream? Well Alviso is my family name and I have no doubt the early Alviso settlers here were my ancestors. After a trip to the marina where we saw the most beautiful pink pond we were hungry! El Taco de Oro had a lot of stars and the pictures looked good. So we went. When we arrived we noticed they also had a taco truck and figured it must be good if they are also putting a truck out there. We were not disappointed!! I do not believe I have had that good of Mexican food in I can't tell you how long. The size of the burrito was so big I couldn't finish and now regret not taking the rest to go. It was filled with delicious chile verde. My daughter had the menudo and it looked fresh and smelled as it should (I have to say I do not like menudo and am not a fan of the smell. lol) She really enjoyed it though. The chips and fresh corn tortillas were an extra bonus and the salsa was amazing. Staff was friendly, service was speedy, and the restaurant and bathroom were clean. The price was great too! Just the right price. Where I live now the Mexican food is just okay and is way overpriced so I was delightfully surprised. Definitely on my experience recommend the restaurant. read more

Very good food and staff. One of Our favorite place to go for tacos. We can sit outside with our dog.

Ordered the "Enchiladas de Chipotle" today. The chicken inside the enchiladas tasted strange. Opened up one of the enchiladas and saw that there was mold on the chicken meat. Called the server and showed her the moldy piece. She asked what she could do to rectify the situation. I told her than I won't be coming there any more but asked her to let the kitchen know so that they could pay attention next time. Too bad. I used to love this place. Not any more. read more

this is a corner spot in the small town down the road from our church. Came for lunch and it was pretty empty. We seated ourselves and were greeted with free chips and salsa. I liked the simplicity and flavor of the salsa. I'm giving a rating of 3.5 for food. The food was pretty good for a taqueria style restaurant. 4 stars for Service -friendly and helpful. The place is clean which I appreciate Portions we just right and prices are fair. My favorite thing was the homemade corn tortillas. The coffee is made with canela. I enjoyed the meal and left full. Not bad. read more

Am a fan of this place. My colleagues told me about this place but I flaked when they all went so when it was our rest day from the gym I suggested we go here. Not too far from where we work and definitely plan to come early if you don't want to deal w/ parking. It does get full... and not to mention there is a El Taco de Oro truck right in the parking lot! I was told that it was completely separate from the restaurant despite having the same business name. I think Ronnie ordered a burrito but I ordered a taco salad w/o the rice, cheese, and sour cream. It came in a tortilla shell (I'm sure it was yummy) but I didn't eat it because I ordered a lengua taco as well as my side. Loved the service. Loved the food. The lengua was tender and the taco salad was delicious and fresh. I will return to order something very unhealthy very soon! read more

I was visiting Alviso when I ran across this Mexican Restaurant named El Taco De Oro. I noticed very few recent reviews so I figured it was time for a current one. Outside was one of their food trucks which gave a very nice, clean presentation. Inside, the restaurant it was very clean and appeared to be well stocked with bottles of beer and soda. The menu had many items on it and they accepted charge cards. It was a self service operation where you wait in line, order, pay and get your drink. When food is ready it is delivered to you. Overall, the restaurant was understaffed. One young man, who was very polite and had a great attitude, was taking orders, cashiering, delivering food, cleaning tables, and everything else. I ordered the Chili Verde Wet Burrito, my friend a Taco. The Burrito was OK but the Pork was tough and fatty to eat. The rice, beans and sauce was excellent-not spicy (the way I like it). The beef taco was excellent, per my friend. I know Covid has hurt many businesses and it's obvious De Oro is really trying hard-but they are not dazzling me with service or food quality. Will definitely try again and upgrade review as I really want to give them 5 stars. If in the area, give it a try. The inside seating area and selection of beer/drinks is great! read more

I've been coming here for over 15 years. Their once $3 asada burritos (amazing to imagine) climes with the times to about $8.50. But in the rare occasion I pass by, I have to get a "regular asada burrito with everything". Their tacos are killer too! read more

We were happy to spot this place after our long bike ride along the baylands. I will say the service was excellent, fast and courteous. The establishment is clean, and the rest room is spotless. The food was good, but not as good as I thought it would be. The nacho dish came in a large pile, the nachos were not laid out neatly which made it difficult to share. The melted cheese stick everything together in a lump. There was an inadequate amount of guacamole and sour cream for the number of chips. I would not order this dish again. The burrito was ample, but was loaded up with way too much rice. The proportions were just not right. I would not recommend this. I did not eat a taco, but I could see my friend removing onion. Again, a proportion problem. It was nice of them to give complimentary chips and salsa, but even this was not outstanding., just okay. read more

El Taco De Oro is located in Alviso. Most people probably never heard of for good reason. There's a only couple resturants in this area. Here is the run down. 1. Affordable, budget friendly 2. Chips and corn tortillas are store bought. (Waiter said they make fresh corn tortillas weekend only. Can't confirm.) 3. Good customer service. 4. Plenty of parking and tables. There's not alot of choices in this area. It's decent food. I normally venture here on the weekday when I'm in the area for work. I typically go to places that serves home made chips and tortilla. The service is attentive which will keep me coming back. read more

Loved El Taco De Oro, especially after a long bike ride at the Alviso park. You get hungry and cranky and tends to be hot, so a beer and some great tacos in a 'trip to Mexico' right at the corner seems like a wonderful option. My boyfriend took me here as he is a super fan even when they were just a taco-truck. He used to come with work colleagues and the lines were always huge. I am glad than on a Sunday late afternoon we entered in 'quiet zone mode' with just a few customers, so service was great and prompt. Decoration wise, everything looks so 'Mexical postal', like you are going to meet Frida Kahlo for cafelito at any time. It is spacious yet cozy and very colorful (exactly what you expect of a pretty, family oriented Mexican restauran). Off the beaten path for sure, but Alviso is a gem by itself, like lost in time and out of place, which I love it. This place is called 'the gold taco' if you translate it, but surely you will pay in nickels, so affordable and good! read more

When I first moved to the area I was happy to see a taco truck so close by. (Resturaunts closed due to Covid) Now I am not so happy... I'm not sure how you can screw up Mexican food so bad but they found a way to do it. Carne Asada has chewy fatty pieces in it, the Salsas are terrible and may just be store bought and the Reason I'm writing this post is me and my wife have gotten sick off their food the last two times. I'm done. Took me a while to learn my lesson but I'd rather just drive a little further to a better spot. read more

Today was my first time going to this place and it was amazing!! I ordered a burrito + 4 tacos and everything was delicious (so good I forgot to take pictures of it). El Taco De Oro is a hidden gem located in the not-so-popular city of Alviso, CA. I've never heard of this place and surprisingly Yelp didn't lead me here either. My S/O at the time found the place and met up with him after work. Here to dine in? Eat inside their spacious restaurant. Want to be on the go? Order at their taco truck next door. Parking is extensive and the restaurant interior represents the Mexican pueblo with all the bright colors. I ordered their regular torta with pastor meat. The sandwich itself was pretty big and I had to use the knife to cut it into smaller pieces. The meat was good compared to other places I've been to and I love that the bread came out warm. My S/O ordered a steak quesadilla. The quesadilla itself looked average and he says that it was alright. It was $30 (including tip) for both entrees including drinks. Solid Mexican food. Will definitely come back when I get the chance. PS - They've got a taco challenge. Give it a try :) read more
