Going to preface this with I ordered delivery, it was a long day of moving things and driving around and I was ready to just stay at home. Ordered Tostilocos ($9.99) and Frutas con Chile ($10.99), my friend wanted Hot Cheetos w/ Cheese ($9.99). We both recognize that we probably paid extra for the convenience of having it delivered, but like I said, we were TIRED. The good, the Hot Cheetos w/cheese were decent, but that's pretty impossible to mess up. The Tostilocos came packaged separate from the toppings, to keep from getting soggy, but the toppings looked and tasted like they were stale. I had to pick out the jicama because it was bitter. They also were really skimpy on the provided liquid toppings, ie a teaspoon of lime, Valentina, and chamoy. The Frutas con Chile are what warranted the 1 star. You mean to tell me that a small plastic clamshell filled 1/4 of the way with fruit that tastes like it was sliced more than 2 days ago is $10.99? I know I'm paying a higher price to have it brought to me but that's just scummy. You live, you learn- picked what was edible out of the bunch but all in all, we were really not able to salvage much. The store looked cool from the outside, but that's about where the positives end. --They messed up one of our orders twice, and I had to get up and ask them to fix it because it still wasn't right. I've been to plenty of other La Michoacanas in LA and OC counties, so I'll say this: the bionicos at this location bummed me out. Not only do they come in a much smaller container than other locations use (they use a Frappuccino-style tall cup instead of a wide-mouthed square claim shell container) which makes eating the dessert properly almost impossible, but the server making mine didn't even ask which toppings I wanted and just gave me ice cream stacked on fruit w a sparse amount of cream and no whipped cream. I know I don't look like I know what's in a bionico, but I assure you I DO. I had to ASK for toppings. She put the toppings in a side cup that I had to sprinkle on as I ate. Lame, why? Just give us claim she'll containers so toppings can go on correctly. Their ice cream is delicious though and I recommend the abuelita chocolate. This location was lively and had a great selection of music playing. Just when I was convinced that Long Beach did not have any great ice cream shops, my boyfriend discovered La Michoacana Premier. This Mexican sweets and snacks shop offers an impressive variety of authentic sweets. They are currently open during the Covid-19 pandemic. Their Mangonada, one of my favorite desserts since childhood, was delightful. Three scoops of mango and guava sorbet are doused in sweet and spicy chamoy, studded with chewy tamarind candies, and finished with a tamarind candy coated straw. The sorbets were silky and flavorful, tasting of perfectly ripe fruit. The portion was so large that I could only finish half, despite my serious sweet tooth. I was equally impressed by their house made ice creams. We got the Fresa (Strawberry), which tasted of fresh strawberries and milk, and the Arroz Con Leche (Rice Pudding), a creamy cinnamon scented treat with unmistakable rice and condensed milk flavors.
