    Complimentary bruschetta
    An H.

Came here for dinner after arriving in Pacific Grove. I'm glad they were able to accommodate our party of 8 on a Friday night. The restaurant is cozy and the service was warm and welcoming. The food we ordered (a combination of a few appetizers and a few pasta dishes) were all good, but the main standout to me was the crab cake. I haven't had a crab cake that great in a while, I think the shrimp in the crab cake really added to its texture. One down side was just the gap between the appetizers coming out and the main dishes, which was almost 30 minutes, we were getting a bit restless. Other than that, we had a good time there.

Everyone in our group agreed with two thumbs up. The interior felt like an art gallery, with servers dressed impeccably in clean aprons, resembling chefs themselves. To make a reservation, be sure to call ahead. The host and the entire staff were amiable, adding to the positive experience. What we ordered: FOCACCIA BREAD - The first serving is complimentary, but the second comes with a $4 charge. While we were tempted to order more because it was so delicious, we decided to hold off until we tried the rest of our meals. CALAMARI - This isn't your typical calamari with tentacles and small rings. Instead, these were deep-fried calamari steaks, and they were out of this world. THE BEST calamari I've ever had. Must order. FARFALLE with BOLOGNESE - We originally wanted the Friday special, Lasagna, but it was sold out. The server recommended this dish as it shared similar ingredients. It was satisfying, and we don't regret ordering it, though I can't help but wonder how the lasagna would have compared. Guess I'll have to come back on a Friday to find out. LOBSTER RAVIOLI - Fresh lobster meat wrapped in tender pasta, served with a Sherry cream sauce that we practically licked clean. It was that good. POTATO GNOCCHI - Chewy, pillowy gnocchi served over a rich cream sauce. It was a great alternative to the rest of our pasta dishes, providing some variety.

This is a cozy family restaurant right off the main street in the heart of Pacific Grove. Most of the fellow customers seem to know the owners and are warmly greeted when they arrive. (We were also warmly greeted, sans the hugs. :-) ) Their dining rooms are tastefully decorated with art deco posters. We shared a Caesar Salad and a Bruschetta for our appetizers and enjoyed them immensely. My main dish was the Fresh Sanddabs which were, in fact, very fresh, very tender and tasty. My wife's lobster ravioli was also delicious.

This was an attempt to approach Thanksgiving in a different way...it worked out! The food was top notch and paired with the service one of the best experiences of the year. We were visited at our table by the owner, what a nice pleasant spirit. We had the Mushroom Ravioli and Seafood Linguine I enjoyed them both equally. I would go back again as we are in the area.

crab & prawn cake: moist & flavorful with a perfectly crispy seasoned crust. radicchio salad only so-so. but I'd order again!

This is our go to Italian restaurant in Pacific Grove! Polly and Michael are always friendly, the ambiance is pleasant, and the food is tasty! You can go for a romantic dinner or with well-behaved kids. (I added the "well-behaved" part because that's my preference and expectation at a nice restaurant.) Everything was great! See my pics. Our favs yummy bruschetta starter and delicious focaccia bread house salad (we split it) crab and prawn cakes - "meaty" & so good! The only less than stellar entree was the spinach & meat raviolis. it's the first time we were a bit disappointed in it and we've been coming here for 6 years! the sauce and filling had great flavor but was a bit too al dente. In the past it seemed like the pasta was rolled out thinner and not as al dente. Looked like the prices went up which seemed on par for a fine dining experience in Pacific Grove/Monterey. With all that, another 5 star experience! We'll be back!!

The ambience is cozy, the service and food is outstanding. I ordered the veal Sorrentino and my husband had the veal saltimbocca. My husband opted for the house salad and I opted for the soup which was heirloom tomato. We ordered a bottle of red Italian wine, a Barolo. We were served bruschetta right away. They also brought warm focaccia bread which reminded us of my husband's Noni. Everything was excellent!! We ended with the sherry cake with pistachio ice cream. Yummy! We definitely will return!

A favorite! Service was pleasant and flow was spot on. Our food was flavorful and cooked perfectly. Will absolutely visit again.

good food. small portions. cute place. good service. Bit pricey for portion size. Very good.

Their Bruschetta. Thin bread (to keep the carbs low) and wonderful tomatoes and basil. So tasty.

No ocean view but there is a parking lot across the street

Can you provide Gluten-free pasta options?

Yes, we have gluten free penne and spaghetti available and all of our sauces are gluten free. Please let your server know if you are allergic so we can cook the pasta in separate water.

What are the gluten free options?

I would think many of their salads are..... some soups....but unsure so I would call and ask...owners are super nice.

We've been coming here for years and I've never, not once, been disappointed. Everything about Mezzaluna is amazing. Mezzaluna's a fairly small restaurant so I always book a reservation. They have a smallish, but very nice, lounge area if your table isn't ready or you're just showing up for a drink. Their staff is beyond friendly and their bartender knows how to make a cocktail. The prices, in my opinion are very reasonable and the portions are what you'd expect. I RARELY, if ever, take home leftovers but this is one of my few restaurant leftover exceptions. I almost always get Rigatoni alla Buttera and my wife the Al Nero con Vongole but not always. Everything we've ever had on the menu is amazing. All the pasta is made fresh in house, and you can taste it. I've eaten at every Italian restaurant in Carmel, and sure Taylor Swift didn't eat here, but I'm glad she didn't. I want this place to be sucessful but I also want to keep this gem out of the Hollywood spotlight. This place stand on its own without needing that kind of notoriety. Restaurants like this let the food, which is what their, they're for do the talking. A few small notes for those who may not have dined here before: 1) Outside seating is right next to highway 68. So that's not the most "awesome" outdoor dining experience, but it is what it is right, but worth a note. 2) The parking lot can be a bit crowded so depending on the night, plan a little extra time to possibly have a small walk if the lot's full. 3) LOCAL/HACK! They have an awesome wine list (for in house dining or to take home). Their prices are VERY VERY good. BUT, the cool thing is if you bring a bottle of wine, and buy one from them, they will waive the corkage fee for that one bottle.

Go out to brunch down at Pacific Grove and enjoy it at a leisurely pace when there are more locals than tourists. The weather was beautiful to enjoy a flavorful corn beef hash with poached eggs and Eggs Florentine Benedict outside under the Victorian facade of the house. The food and service were excellent and so enjoyable, returned just a few months later for the crab cake benedict from their special's menu and a meatball sandwich from their lunch menu under beautiful blue skies once again. Only note is I didn't see a price for the crab cake benedict so was surprised that it was over $30 when the receipt came. But I would definitely return, just maybe not for the crab cake benedicts unless I want a splurge. This spot is definitely worthy of my 1400 review and to take my childhood friend from back East for her favorite meal, brunch, the third time dining indoors. The service itself is organized well. But for this kind of pretentious presentation, the plates and silverware were not polished, with residue from dried water. I ordered duck medium-well, they brought it medium rare. The manager clearly noticed my surprise and offered to cook it more. I think that was a bad idea. The duck tasted as if it had been reheated on the second day. On top of that, it was completely drowned in a sauce that ruined the flavor. The side dish was obviously frozen, packaged vegetables and mashed potatoes with cheese. All of this together created a horrible composition. And even separately, everything tasted bad. My wife simply refused to say or write anything about the osso buco she ordered. What I liked: the bread was good, the olives were good, the orange in the duck they still managed to ruin. The service was good and friendly. What I didn't like: unpolished silverware with hard-water marks. Bottled beer only. I would fire the person who created the menu. The duck was simply terrible both individually and overall. And to the one who cooked it, I would suggest making burritos -- that would probably turn out better. Overall, good marketing, a pretty wrapper, and bad content. They spent money on marketing but didn't have enough left for a good chef and a kitchen team. After that, we went to the brewery next door and had an excellent pizza from a real Italian oven, with good -- not bottled -- beer. All at a price three times cheaper.
