Acai bowl amazing!

Always a great experience here. Good portions, a huge variety of food selection at a great price. I always forget how good this place is they also have a great coffee selection as well.

A very cozy restaurant that offers self indoor or outdoor seatiing. La Mesa Bistro is the real deal. Offering a WIDE variety of menu items chances are they have something for you as well. They do close at 2pm but luckily we arrived before their afternoon rush. I ordered the Santa Fe Chicken Sandwich with fries and my partner Classic Eggs Benedict. The french fries we fried to a perfection perfectly seasoned, crunchy on the outside but soft on the inside. The burger was delicious! The Eggs benedict were as expected, delicious, portion sizes were good and their house potatoes were extremely flavorful. A great experience, I'll definitely return for more.

AMAZING FOOD and great people! I love coming here. You can always count on getting a lot of food for a great price and the environment is really nice and clean. The food comes out very quick but it's always fresh.

* great for breakfast and lunch *plenty of menu options *service is great and prompt * self-order * spacious spot *Plenty of parking * several coffee options One of our common breakfast spots! My favorite is still the mascarpone French toast, this plate can be a sharable plate for sure. The food is always great the servers are helpful and our food never takes long to come out. A must-try!

First time trying eating at La Mesa Bistro and Bakery. My wife and I had lunch with a friend. I had no idea you had to order food first then grab a table. We ended up waiting to order while my friend arrived. While waiting, I noticed the place became very busy. We were able to get a table outside. Once my friend arrived, she said the food comes out very fast since she frequently eats here. We probably waited 5 min before our food arrived. The cashier and staff were very welcoming and polite. I ended up ordering the chicken pesto wrap with fruit. The pesto was very subtle and not overwhelming. Overall, it was a great fresh dish especially if you're trying to eat more healthy. I would definitely return to try more of their food items.

Before I came here I looked at their online menu and I was so impressed by the prices. Everything was so affordable! I couldn't believe it. Then I got to the restaurant and realized that I indeed should not believe: their actual menu in the restaurant is dramatically more expensive. It was too good to be true! And the real prices seem high for a place with counter ordering.... In addition to their online menu, they also have different menus inside. The printed menu is massive. But then there are menus on the walls, and while some of the items are the same, some are completely different. Too many choices and too much disorganization! But the food itself was great. I got the ricotta lemon blueberry pancakes and they were perfectly moist and flavorful. They were great even without syrup, and top notch with. My order came with eggs and bacon, and I was thrilled that they had a veggie bacon substitution with no extra charge. Portions look large because of how they're plated, but were reasonable for one person. No leftovers this time!

We've been coming here more than we should, but this place is amazing has great food taste fresh all the time

I got the French toast with eggs and bacon. Everything was cooked perfectly. Food was full of flavor, and the portions were good. I got the Mexico Organic coffee and I loved it. My husband ate the Mexican bagel and my granddaughter the Egg and cheese croissant and they really liked it. The staff were very friendly and polite.

Everything you want from a neighborhood diner/restaurant. You order your food and pay for it at the front and then they bring it to your table. They have quite a large menu and it's reasonably priced.... You can tell it's frequent by locals, which is always a good sign. Plus they serve breakfast all day :-)

Our family recommended this place for brunch and just by looking at the menu prior to coming, some of the photos looked good so I was pretty stoked. There's a ton of options with fairly large portion sizes, so it was perfect for sharing amongst each other. I ordered the Italian Sausage Scrambler with a side of potatoes and had a hot chocolate. I like how they made the potatoes crispy and the size of the hot chocolate was huge (as it should be imo - thank you!). Since portion sizes were big, we were able to share and try out the açaí bowl (as pictured) with my family and my cousin's corn beef hash (which was huge and crispy). My family and I ideally look forward to breakfast and brunch when we eat out, and we weren't disappointed coming here! It was a very family-friendly ambiance, employees and customers were very nice and friendly people, and it seemed to be an overall good community! We appreciate the staff for helping our big family today and handling all our orders with amazing customer service to the T! Thank you!!!

I was on my way to church and needed an early cup and was surprised how many shops were not open at 7 AM. I'm sure I could have found a Starbucks but that's always reserved for a last resort. Big props to this spot being open early on a Sunday morning, so I could make it to church prayed up and fully caffeinated. The barista opened right on time (7 AM) I loved how friendly she was for it being that early, and she got me my drink within 3-4 minutes. I am not a big coffee drive-thru guy, but if I lived in the area, especially knowing it is veteran owned, I might become one. Thanks guys and best of luck!

I've had Red White and Badass Brew one other time after my husband raved about this cookies and cream latte he got here. It's a small, local, veteran owned shop, which honestly makes supporting it feel even better. So, I thought getting his favorite drink would help, but turns out that was a seasonal winter drink... please bring it back, it was sooo good. I got in line around 8:30 and there were two cars in front of me. This place is so small and cute, I actually used to work in one of these drive-thru kiosk style cafes so I didn't mind the short wait at all as usually its only one or two people working in there. I do wish they had a menu visible from the line because I couldn't decide what I wanted while waiting. The only things visible were the specials like an avocado toast and a "no lucks given" drink. I ended up pulling up the menu on my phone which works, but it would be more convenient if they had something displayed out front like a sandwich board or something. The employee was incredible, super friendly, my order was taken quick and my drink came out even quicker. It is a little on the pricier side for a cup of coffee but you are supporting a local business. With tip it came out to over $9 for a regular size. I ordered the no lucks given, which is a chocolate Irish cream latte, and swapped to oat milk. My first sip was amazing, a medium dark roast that wasn't bitter at all with a rich chocolate flavor. You could see the chocolate coating the walls of the cup and I'm pretty sure there was a cold foam on top that made it extra creamy. The overall drink was smooth and well balanced, just a little too sweet for my liking but that's something I can adjust next time. I did have a kind of odd moment though. My second sip was great until I got hit with a sudden punch of salt. Like a full on salt crystal just melted on my tongue for a good 10 seconds. It was strong and definitely woke me up... which I guess is what the coffee was supposed to do, I just didn't expect a surprise salt bomb to help with that. After that I checked my drink and everything looked fine and the rest of it tasted great. Overall I'll definitely be back. The service was great, the drink was solid, and I love supporting a spot like this. I can't wait to come here more often, and hopefully one day come back with my husband when comes home from deployment, with his cookies and cream drink back on the menu.

Recently, I spent some time back in La Mesa and thought I would go back and try this spot out. So much space, friendly staff, reasonable prices, with a bunch of gluten-free and vegan options when it comes to food. Plenty of parking, outdoor seating as well, and even when they were busy, I think I did not wait more than five minutes for my drink. I chose to use their honey syrup instead of regular honey, and was not disappointed with my iced oatmilk latte also, I have to point out something you don't typically see at a lot of coffee shops. Both times I went, there was an incredible mix of generations in that shop. From younger to older, it was awesome to see generations coming together. Great job guys!

It's…read morecool that they opened up in La Mesa, as there's not a whole lots of coffee shops around there. First off, the interior is bright and minimalistic. The color combo of white and red really gives me Coca Cola vibes, esp with the logo font they went with. The mugs they have available remind me of those classic diner style mugs that have a good weight to them. The menu board looked promising and simplistic. If they could...I'd recommend, adding the price the house made syrups cost to the board. In the morning, around 10 am, I came here with friends. My friend ordered an Iced Matcha Latte sweetened with honey. And I had their 12 oz, Iced Dulce de Leche Latte, with whole milk. The price of two drinks came to be just under $14! My friend enjoyed the flavor of his drink saying that it wasn't overly sweetened and he could still taste the matcha. My drink was good as well, the first sip, you could really taste the coffee bean notes and it was amazing. I think I'd ask for half sweet next time. My 12 oz was a little overfilled and there were no napkins at the main bar where they had the drinks. After looking around, I noticed a coffee cart full of napkins, extra sweeteners, straws, etc by the door. A long walk of spillage that could have happened lol~ having a few napkins at the espresso bar drop off section would be handy as well! In the afternoon, before they closed, I ordered 12 oz Iced Latte with Vanilla Syrup. It was $5.75 & tax brought it up to $6.24... Anyways I think that it was a little bit of a surprise personally -- because the board mentioned $5 for 12 oz and didn't say anything about the syrups being .75 cents more. At least for vanilla syrup, I was thinking it was going to be .25-50 cents more minimum. Overall, the coffee shop was really nice and so were the workers. The guy working was very friendly and easy going with conversations~! They not only have espresso based drinks, but matcha, houjicha, parfaits, and breakfast sandwiches as well. According to the menu it seems like most items are under $8 which is pretty good, especially for breakfast items that tend to have outrageous prices at other locations. It's a cute addition to the neighborhood, open at prime hours of the day, I'd recommend swinging on by and checking them out!
