We just finished eating breakfast here, and it was an excellent experience from start to finish. We were seated quickly, the food was outstanding, and the service was amazing. The ambience was family friendly and welcoming. They serve Farmers Brothers coffee. If you have not tasted this coffee, you must try it. There is no bitterness to it and it's very smooth. I love when restaurants serve this brand of coffee. I ordered the vegetarian omelette. It was baked, generously portioned, incredibly filling, and absolutely delicious. My nephew had the strawberry waffle which looked very delicious. I also want to commend the entire staff for their exceptional service and hard work. They were attentive, friendly, and kept everything running smoothly throughout our visit. It's clear they take pride in providing a great experience for their guests. We will definitely be back and highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great breakfast! read more

Delicious pancakes, friendly staff, fresh OJ, and a great atmosphere. The staff are so attentive and there's a lot of seating. The patio is also dog friendly! (For dogs under 40 lbs). They even brought out a water bowl for her, so kind. My family visits once and month and it's a great time every time. I order the pigs in the blanket every time with a plethora of fresh syrup options. It's delicious. My wife always changes her crepe every time and they're all delightful. Fresh homemade whip cream does it every time for her. read more

Great family owned restaurant for locals to support. We went around 0830 on Sunday and by the time we left many more breakfast goers were arriving. We were greeted and quickly seated. We had our pick of indoor or covered patio. We chose the patio. We ordered the strawberry, Nutella waffle, 123 kids meal, eggs/ sausage breakfast and egg/bacon breakfast. Both egg meals came with choice of three large buttermilk pancakes, hashbrowns or toast. Food was good. I enjoyed my bacon and sausage. Prices are very similar to other breakfast restaurants but they give you a good amount of food here. I saw signs about paying with cash to avoid the fees to small businesses. We didn't have cash but they also accept zelle! We had a great Sunday morning start here- definitely recommend:) Oh you can check-in and get a hot chocolate. I didn't participate but I saw the yelp sign. read more

Gluten free pancakes is a key to my review. They were pretty undercooked and I can make better gf pancakes at home. But at least they had them and they weren't bad. My friend got the waffle and ate every bite. It's a humble place and the service was fine. read more

Really wonderful diner. It's family owned and you'll get the best service here. The waitress kept my coffee always full. And it's a busy place but lots of seating. Got the banana pancakes and thought they were huge and fluffy. Came out quickly. Not much for parking so just be prepared to circle for awhile. read more

I have to make a quick update bc it's been a while. The corned beef hash omelette is still phenomenal. Best pancakes around. The OJ is fresh squeezed. You get actual real maple syrup. All with super friendly service in a cozy grandmas dining room kind of vibe. Oh also mimosas and Bloody Mary's. read more

Added the sign because if we would've know we would've brought cash... it makes sense! Awesome food and the service was the kind I like, attentive, cordial, homey and welcoming... we went around 11 am today, forgot to take the servers name (we sat "outside") and they left us wanting to come back for sure! read more

Sunshine Pancake House located in La Mesa. I only noticed street parking for this venue. Large restaurant that would have no problem hosting large parties. Clean establishment and good customer service. We ordered: Corn beef hash and eggs - delish, large enough for two people or one hungry person Berry waffle - waffle was cooked to perfection! Definitely recommend ordering. Orange juice - tasted freshly squeezed but wasn't very sweet Hot cocoa - delish, it did not taste watered down at all. If in the area, definitely give this location a try for delicious breakfast brunch choices! read more

This is a great local breakfast spot. When you go inside, it feels like you walked into someone's house rather than a restaurant. The food was good and tastes home made. The service was alright, no complaints. read more

Great breakfast! The buttermilk pancakes are a great texture and flavor. The eggs cooked well to order. The green chili omelet was ok, but wouldn't order it again. Wasn't a fan (not enough addins and unsure aboit the baked omelet). Loved the Crispy bacon. Even the strawberry jam for the toast was very tasty. Saw a Dutch pancake - next time for sure! read more

I've driven past this place a zillion times, and finally made my way in to try it out for breakfast. The orange juice was great-very fresh! I ordered the strawberry crepes and they were good. Not the best I've ever had, but they were good. My dad ordered the chocolate chip pancakes and said they were pretty good too. The service was just okay. read more

Service was fast and friendly, food was amazing (we shared the cinnamon pancake and the Benedict). Fresh squeezed grapefruit juice had my husband drooling. The cafe had an old time feel but was clean and comfortable. Would definitely eat there again! read more

Charming with tasty food - clearly a fun staple in the neighborhood for years, and hopefully more years to come. I love pancakes and relish just how many different varieties they have. Really enjoyed the chocolate chip pancakes today! And very much appreciate the bottomless hot chocolate, a personal favorite of mine anywhere. read more

Sunshine Pancake House - Chocolate chip pancakes (excuse the fact they're half eaten - yum!) - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - La Mesa, California

Service was pretty good, coffee was tasty, but the food was insanely overpriced and very mid. I still can't believe they're charging $17 for a single waffle with some strawberries with no meat side. Every other restaurant I have ever been to for breakfast would include a side of bacon or sausage with a waffle. And the sausage scramble with ground sausage was really bizarre. Zoom in on that picture. Were the eggs powdered? Why are they little pellets like the ground sausage? It tasted ok but looked really unappetizing, like the whole thing was curdled. We won't be back. read more

After looking for a spot to have our last breakfast with our college student before going back home, I settled on this one. The place was pretty full so I took it as a good sign. Unfortunately, it was not the greatest choice. This is what we ordered, chorizo egg plate, pear oven baked pancake, strawberry crepes, strawberry waffle and a cafe de holla. Besides the chorizo eggs barely having chorizo, they were pretty bland and very "eggy" (best way to describe it. If you know, you know). The cafe de holla was definitely not it. It was basically black coffee with some sugar. The waffle we never got because they messed up brought us French toast instead. We didn't say anything and just kept it. Needless to say, both the French toast and crepes ended up with more than half staying in the plate because our boys didn't like them. They said the strawberries were bitter and the rest was rubbery. Lastly was what seemed like their specialty item, the oven baked pancake. It wasn't bad, definitely nothing to go back for. Whatever sugar, syrupy thing they put on top, ended up getting cold really fast and it made it hard to eat after that. It seems like people like this place and I'm glad it's staying a float but we won't be back. read more

For my family's last morning in El Cajon, I was given the task of finding a breakfast place for 9 people. And everyone had their own array of preferences when it came to grub. The staff and food at this cafe were WONDERFUL! They accommodated our larger-than -expected group without hesitation, and served up a super array of breakfasts to everyone's specific requests. The coffee, tea and juices kept flowing throughout the meal, and our waitress didn't miss a beat. And with a smile! They even treated our table with a serving of some incredibly delicious pear pancakes! They were quite memorable!! OMG! I had no idea pear pancakes would taste so great! When next in the area (we're from Arizona), we'll definitely be back! read more

Came here by myself for breakfast. The pancakes were actually decent and the portions were good. Unfortunately, the service completely ruined the experience. I felt rushed the entire time, like they wanted me out as soon as possible. Before I finished eating, I stepped away to use the restroom. When I came back, all of my food was gone, my bag had been moved, and new customers were already seated at my table. I had to ask the front desk for my bag back, and there wasn't even an apology. It felt really dismissive and unprofessional. Food was okay, but the service alone would keep me from coming back. read more

The specialty of the house is the fresh strawberry pancakes with fresh strawberry reduction and fresh whipped cream on a side plate. They were enjoyable. However, the unpleasant bathroom smell throughout the dining area was hard to dismiss. The service was acceptable but then again there were only 3 other parties in the restaurant. read more

Excellent food. Hidden gem here in San Diego. A friend told me about it, traditional German pancake options. Definitely check it out.

We walked in, Monday, and were seated immediately. The host took our drink orders. Let me tell you, the coffee was outstanding! The waitperson took our food orders and brought out all the accompanying goodies to go with our food. I had the senior French toast with strawberries and a scrambled egg. The portion size was generous but the taste was outstanding! My spouse got homemade corn beef hash with a perfectly cooked over easy egg. For his side, pancakes were chosen. I tasted the hash -- it's one of the best I've ever eaten. The ambiance is like a cute diner and every staff person was sweeter than the last. If I could give more stars, I would! read more

I'm always searching for good, mom and Pop breakfast spots and sunshine pancake house lived up to the hype. The wait staff was super attentive and even suggested a special yummy coffee, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The food was great, eggs, perfectly cooked and the bacon was cooked well. Very tasty, and thick. Pancakes were good. I don't think they are any more special than any other decent pancake place, but no complaints at all. Service was fast and the price was reasonable, definitely putting this one on my rotation. read more

The Service was fine and the food came out in a timely manner the staff was attentive and kept our cups filled, but the prices for this mediocre food makes this place a pass for me from now on. Pancakes had an odd taste, my party of three agreed on the taste of the pancakes. The bacon did not taste like bacon, but instead tasted like breakfast ham. The sausage was cooked but had minimal browning, that happens at most places. I did request them to be browned more but the request seemed to have been ignored. One in our party ordered pumpkin pancakes and was not thrilled with the taste ( bland) was used to describe them. The whipped cream served with the pancakes left an oily residue in her mouth. The food experience was a bummer, but you never know about a place until you try it. read more

Went for Sunday brunch and got a few things. We ordered our food and they gave us some bananas, strawberries, and cream while we waited and that was really nice. Pear oven baked pancake was delicious and huge portion. Cheesy ham omelette and I added spinach for some veggies. I was expecting something different, but it was more of a frittata than anything since it's oven baked. Fresh squeeze grapefruit juice was yummy, a tad bitter, but I added some sugar and it was fine. Servers were nice and attentive. It wasn't too busy when we came in, but had to wait a bit to close our check and get a to go box. read more

I heard and read such great things about this place. But it didn't live up to the hype. The food was so-so, the service was so-so, the atmosphere was so-so. Today was our third visit here today and the overall service was spectacular! Our order didn't quite get messed up but more-so mixed up a bit but they made it up to us. Came here on a rainy & hailing day, Sunshine Pancake House is warm inside and the colors give you a feeling of happiness. The workers are kind. We all ordered the freshly squeezed orange juice. It tasted a bit different than when I squeeze it at home, not sure if it's diluted or have some extra sweetness? Nonetheless, it was still a solid cup of orange juice. And they give you a big full glass of it. They brought out warmed maple syrup and whipped butter. The butter was whipped so much it was white, or maybe it had a little something else mixed with it. My great uncle and aunt enjoyed it. I ordered the 5 silver dollar pancakes and I'm SO glad I didn't order 10 because these are NOT *silver dollar* size at all. These were the size of my fist so eating 5 of them really filled me up. I started slowing down on the 3-4th one. They were good and cooked nicely. I love golden pancakes, only one was slightly over cooked. My great uncle ordered plain waffle with a side of eggs (sunny side...over easy or something) & bacon. It came out with 4 slices of bacon and he liked that it was a thicker cut than your usual bacon. Cooked very well-- crispy. The waffle was light and fluffy, not dense at all. The eggs were also well cooked with a nice runny center and crispy edges. My great aunt ordered the bacon waffle. It had bacon crumbled on top as well as inside. She enjoyed her waffle a lot saying it was better than the ones she'd get at breakfast places in Texas. I highly recommend this spot to eat at with family or friends. It will warm you up, make you smile, and keep you filled. read more
