    French Toast Breakfast
    Eric F.

This is one of those gems that you just happen to run across and wonder how you didn't know about it. I came here with friends for breakfast one morning after they happened to find it during a search for a new breakfast spot. We were promptly and warmly welcomed in and seated immediately. The breakfast menu had a lot of options with a good variety of food from traditional American food to Mexican food to Guatemalan food. I stuck with the traditional French toast breakfast this time, but I will definitely be back and trying more. All of our food was cooked perfectly and was delicious. The staff was very attentive. The prices were decent. Overall, I was very impressed with this cafe. This will probably be my new go to breakfast place.

We stopped over here to eat breakfast before going to the San Diego Zoo. Lots of free parking since it's in a lot. The service was very friendly. I really liked the decor inside the restaurant. They have a big menu. I got the Guatemalan breakfast chiroy combination. Huge portion size. It comes with churrasco, longaniza, chorizo, beans, eggs, and fried plantains. Everything was very good. No complaints. The prices were very fair. I would recommend not ordering the traditional American breakfast items. You can get that anywhere. Try something new.

First of all the food is amazing!! I had the Mix Skillet, and Ms. Badpenny had the Michaca breakfast, the black beans are really good and the salsa is amazing. Tons of parking. Super friendly staff and good size portions!!

My Mom suggested we try this place as we heard it was really good. They have a wide range of food that includes American and Mexican. Upon walking in the door, I noticed the restaurant was clean and orderly. We were seated at a comfortable booth and greeted by the owner, and he showed us to our table. The nice waitress came over and took our order. I was really overwhelmed because there were so many dishes on the menu to choose from. I decided to get a Pollo Asado or they call it Chicken burrito with sliced avocado on the side. My Mom ordered Pozole. The chips came with our meals with a hot sauce that was so flavorful and also an Avicado salsa I think it is. So delicious I need the recipe! Our food was served shortly after. The meals were ample in size and that first bite was perfection! The food is homemade with love, flavor, and care. I told the owner how much we loved the food. He stopped by our table to talk to us a little bit. He was so friendly and warm hearted. This place feels like a place that people go to for "COMFORT FOOD" with a clean, orderly, and pleasant environment. I love how they also praise God with some photos on the wall. They also had other beautiful photos up. And, if you love to watch anything good on the big screen, they have it there for you also! This is a place I highly recommend for a great, pleasant, friendly, and awesome-tasting food experience! Go experience "Chiroys" today!

Chiroy offers Mexican American and Guatemalan (Chapín) cuisine. I come in for breakfast to sit and enjoy the calm yet vibrant vibe. The menudo is to die for. I typically don't finish it in 1 sitting so I order it in a to go bowl. The grilled food is the best if you ask me. I haven't found another restaurant that offers Guatemalan food but the food reminds me of the time I spent traveling Guatemala.

Everything about our breakfast here was wonderful! The Guatemalan combination breakfast and huevos rancheros were both excellent, and the café de olla was the perfect cozy touch. The staff were attentive and super kind. There was a very tiny mishap with one dish (something that can happen anywhere), but the team handled it promptly and professionally. We left very happy and will definitely be back! So glad there's a legit breakfast spot close to home finally!

I had a nice breakfast here at Chiroy's Cafe new location in Spring Valley or Casa de Oro in Campo Road. I had the trio of breakfast tacos plate. You get to choose your protein for your tacos and sides for $12.99 plus tax, and $3.49 plus tax for regular coffee. I had hash browns and black beans on the side. The breakfast tacos came generously filled with scrambled eggs, bacon, cheese, and hash browns. I wish I would of known that the tacos came with hash browns in them, because I would not of had them as my side. At any rate, the tacos were tasty. The eggs were well scrambled and the bacon was really good. The hash browns were good but they could of been crispier. They need that nice crunch, the ones in the tacos and on the plate. Also, I thought the breakfast tacos would of been better served if they chopped the bacon up and mixed it with the eggs, and garnish the tacos with either some chopped green onions or a touch of pico de gallo. Just a touch. The black beans were of the refried variety. I thought they were whole when I ordered them, but nevertheless, they were tasty and creamy. Service was very pleasant. You order at the table, but then pay at the counter. There's plenty of inside seating. There's also a bar, where they serve eats, beer, and wine.

Everything is perfect this time the hashbrowns are perfect. The hot cakes are hot. The coffee is still good as is the breakfast meats and the customer service is a step above.

Another great breakfast at Chiroy's! If you've not been in a while, you need to come and check out the renovations! They removed the interior wall to open up the space and the bar area is so open and airy now. And Chiroy's now serves beer and wine. Today, we sat on the front patio to enjoy the view of Mt Helix. We ordered huevos rancheros with flour tortillas and a veggie omelette with fresh fruit and homemade English muffin and decaf coffee. I wish they offered a decaf version of their cafe olla--I did try their caffeinated cafe olla but I can't handle caffeine any more Martin Chiroy is the owner and he kept my coffee and water filled and served our food promptly. Chiroy's opened in November 2024. He has invested in our community--let's each of us invest in this small business and help it thrive!

Yummmyyy. The salsa was so good!

New breakfast spot in Spring Valley. I love how we were greeted right when we walked in and the service was very friendly. The breakfast was simple, fresh & homey & that's what I enjoyed about it the most. My husband liked the fresh salsa that came out with his dish. Everything was really great. We will def be back.

Food was absolutely amazing and very well priced! If we weren't just visiting from Arizona this would definitely be a regular breakfast place.

Ordered two coffees, the coconut coffee & the Turkish hazelnut coffee. The coconut coffee has real coconut flakes in it,which makes the overall taste come through much better. Update after the owner's response:…read more I appreciate the response, but I stand by my experience. Whether the wait was 5 minutes or 20, we were standing at the pickup counter after receiving a notification that our order was ready, and no one acknowledged us until we spoke up. During a rush, communication still matters. I also want to clarify that I never claimed to have a dairy intolerance or allergy, because I do not. I simply stated that all of us became sick shortly after consuming the drinks and pastry we purchased there. I never claimed to know the exact cause -- only the timing of what occurred. What disappointed me most was not just the experience itself, but the defensive and dismissive tone of the response instead of a more professional acknowledgment of a customer concern. I genuinely wanted to enjoy this place because it is cute and came recommended to me, but unfortunately this was my experience.

It's a cute colorful little shop. The girl working was very friendly. I saw the board outside after she reminded me of the specials and decided to try the iced chocolate banana latte. This is not something I would normally try but it sounded good. I'm more of a coffee purist generally. The girl told me all about it and talked it up so I was looking forward to trying it. She said the banana was a strong flavor, which is OK cause I like banana. She made my drink and I paid and was on my way. As I was walking back to my car, I took a sip. I'm not sure what happened, but there was zero banana flavor. It was just chocolate. I don't know if she ran out of banana or what happened but had I known I would've ordered something different. Quite disappointing actually. Since I'm in the area every few months and it has a five star reputation I will come back and try something else on a different day but today was not my day for getting a good drink.
