    Charcuterie board and marinated olives
    Pam C.

Stellar dining experience at this charming classic French restaurant in downtown Telluride. We sat outside where the weather was perfect and service was attentive. Our group started with the Charcuterie plate. I'm just now looking at the menu and apparently we ate chicken liver mousse. In all honesty, I probably wouldn't have chosen this bc of my preconceived idea of eating liver but is was flavorful and had a nice texture. The flavor was elevated by the mustard and radish. We also shared the marinated olives. I tried the heirloom tomatoes which were served with eggplant purée. So fresh and seasoned well. We shared the melt in your mouth wagyu steak. I couldn't add a picture because we devoured it! Lastly we had the vanilla bean crème brûlée. A perfect ending for a perfect meal.

    Caviar. Fine.

This place is a TOTALLY different place under new ownership than it was last time I came in 2020. And not in a good way. Like shockingly bad. The appetizers were edible, but everything else was not. DO NOT COME HERE. What makes matters worse - we told the head chef how bad our food was (none of us ate much of our entrees) and they didn't take a single dime off the $900 bill. Honestly one of the worst experiences we've ever had dining out. Waiter Oliver was fine. Used to be our favorite place in town for Christmas dinner. Again, don't go. Chicken - too salty to eat Gnocchi - terrible. No sauce. Trout - soggy Beef - way too salty and no sauce. Just fat. Lard all over the place. Tartare - egg was so big that it made the entire thing a soup. Gross.

    French onion soup

Service was great, food is a miss. I don't understand how this place has so many good reviews, but looks like a change of ownership recently. The French onion soup was luke warm, lacked flavor, just a touch of cheese. Biggest disappointment is on a $95 prix fixe menu was the duck cassoulet that had maybe 2oz of shredded duck and 2 lbs of beans. Flavor was ok, but never have I had this dish without a full piece of duck and usually chunks of sausage. Dessert was fine if you like a tub of chocolate. Will not repeat unfortunately. Nothing I was served is anywhere in the realm of fine dining. Over priced and underseasoned. Maybe they are better in the off season.

Service was good, food was just OK, ambiance was lacking, and we were overcharged. We ended up spending $300+ (excluding gratuity) on dinner for 2. We each ordered the prix fixe menu, or 3 courses for $95 each. I had one glass of wine (at a whopping $25) and my husband had one beer at $10. Therefore you can imagine our surprise when the bill came. 95 * 2 = 190 + 25 + 10 should be closer to $225. We expressed our concern and the waiter explained certain items had an up charge. Ok... but the menu I had did not reflect these charges. They provided the wrong menu! Instead of honoring the price, they offered a bottle of wine. It being our last night and we are leaving at 6am, that was refused. Needless to say we will not return.

    Strawberry tarte - sooo delish!

Note this very nice, classy, romantic restaurant is clearly popular and you def need reservations for dinner. BUT... we were lucky enough to walk in at sunset (8ish) to have our last hoorahh drink before heading home. We were welcomed with open arms and seated within minutes despite a sold out restaurant. Our waitress was gracious and kind. We quickly went from just drinks to dessert too once we saw the strawberry tarte on the menu- so good! Can't wait to come back to Telluride and have this place on our dinner reservations plan!

Incredible evening at La Marmotte last night! Service was wonderful! Thank you Jordan and Mark. We sat in an alpine globe while it was snowing outside and got to play our own music. It was so magical. The food was impeccable! The best meal we had in Telluride. Got the oysters, mussels, trout and beef. Everything was Amazing!!!

    Menu for the day

A friend wanted to eat in one of the glass igloos. She also reviewed the online menu, which sealed the deal with duck and Foie gras being posted. We rearranged our schedules to meet the restaurant's availability. This place has also gone prix fixe with a few items having an upcharge. The igloo was a cool experience. The dining menu does not match the online menu. Our server seemed a bit put out when we mentioned that the reason we came was because of the online menu. It wasn't the servers fault and we didn't grumble much about the issue, just stated that if the menu changes frequently the website person should make the updates. The rest of the service was great!!! Food was fine. I don't know there is a new chef, new management or what, but the restaurant and food are not the same as my last visit. In all fairness that was pre-Covid, but that trip ranked a 5 star service. Drink prices are crazy. I ordered a cognac French 75 and it is $30! That price is posted on the menu, but as it was a special occasion I splurged. It was good, but not $30 worth.

Outside of the restaurant and the pods

We had reservations here on Friday night of our ski trip. We really enjoyed our private dinning in our own outdoor "pod". We started with some amazing champagne and bone marrow. Steak tartar didn't disappoint either! The hubs and I shared the beef bourgeois. Finished off with delicious creme brûlée. The pod was heated and had a blue tooth speaker.

Delectable French cuisine. The globes outside are so cute in winter for dinner and even had Bluetooth speakers. The French onion soup was cheesy, the bone marrow was delicious and the Coq Au Vin was out of this world. They were doing the set 3 course menu per person and had one of the most unique crème brûlées I've ever had for dessert.

Globe outside! Must call in advance to specifically reserve.

I called the restaurant about 5 days prior to my Rez and they were able to accommodate adding two to my party. An already great start to my experience without stepping foot into the restaurant. The exterior and interior of the building are way cute but holy cow did the food shine here. My friend and I shared the French onion soup, the steak tartare, and the filet mignon entree. Literally all 10s. I would say don't skip the soup or the filet. The soup was so rich with flavor and honestly might be the best rendition I've ever had. The filet had this amazingly rich sauce and it was paired with bites of lobster. I haven't stopped thinking about it. The steak tartare was also so good. I've never had it before so it's hard to compare but I really enjoyed it! Our server was attentive and so knowledgeable about the food and drinks. I think his name is Bruce but might be wrong about that. I would say snag a reservation if you can cause this place is not to be missed. A well deserved 5 stars!

Alpino Vino: Even More Heavenly Than Lunch…read more I had lunch at this heavenly high altitude delicious mountain ski-in restaurant 4 out of 5 days. The fixed prix dinner feast was even more heavenly despite having imbibed 4 margaritas before the 5:45 pm arrival; and I drink very little if any daily. This very special experience starts when you are picked up by the gondola at Mountain Village by a decked out snow track. The relatively smooth ride up takes about 20 minutes - just enough time to get acquainted with the other about ten guests who were extremely nice and interesting. The food with wine pairings for each course was delicious and the service impeccable. The ride down seemed shorter. Due to the 9 glasses of cocktails and wine, my trip back to the right room was a little shaky. But this incredible culinary experience made the expected hangover worth it. I hope to be back next year, this time having learned my lesson.

I couldn't jump back on the lifts fast enough to head back up and check it out. It was a little before noon and the hostess said everything was booked for the day but she could put us in the list for a 2:00pm inside table should something open up. I asked about outside and she said no chance, it was already booked and everyone shows up so inside was our only choice. Five minutes later, my friend came down the hill not realizing I had already been there and asked about 2:00pm seating outside and she told him it was booked but people no show all the time so just be there before 2:00 and chances were she could seat him. Hmmmm. Anyhow, we show up for 2:00pm seating and asked about an outside table and she said it was all booked but could sit us inside. We were brought inside to a nice table by the window. The restaurant was empty except for 1 person at the fireside table and a table of 4 that were on the way out. Inside was decorated very cute, rustic. Each chair had a nice blanket available if needed. Our server Marissa was very nice and prompt. Marissa asked us if we wanted still or sparkling water, we asked for still. We looked at the wines by the glass menu and ordered two glasses of the sparkling Rose Pinot Noir. $24. This was actually delicious. We decided to split the Alpino Vino Signature Grilled Cheese Sandwich with the Organic Tomato Gorgonzola Soup. $32. We also ordered an extra tomato soup since we split the sandwich. The grill cheese sandwich was lacking cheese but had plenty of pesto, arugula and tomato. The tomato soup was served cold and no taste of the Gorgonzola. A big dash of oil on top. The food was a definite miss. When the bill arrived, we also noticed a $10 charge for the still water. Had we been informed we would be charged for still water we wouldn't have ordered it. We had our own with us if we had known. The water price is not stated on the menu. There is also a 5% culinary service charge added to all checks and $6 to split the sandwich. This is notated in the bottom of the menu. So, while it is a cool location and beautiful views if you are privileged enough to sit outside, the food was a definite miss and the extra charges were petty. I will say we saw the charcuterie board pass by and it looked delicious. Marissa was nice but could have informed us of the $10 for a couple of glasses of water. Go for the views and a glass of vino or bubbles if you can sit outside.

Chef Michel makes a gluten free crepe batter though, so I was thrilled to try out his food! The serene seating area is surrounded by blooming flowers and lush foliage, so it was not difficult to convince my mom to make the stop. Hands down, these were the best crepes I've ever had in my life. My mom, who is not gluten free, said she couldn't distinguish the regular crepe she had the day before at our hotel and the GF ones we had at Michel's Corner (usually GF options are very textually different and heavily alter the eating experience). We split the Ole' Molle Stolle and the Ham, Gruyère, Tomato - it was so hard to pick a favorite!! The Ole' Molle Stolle (so fun to say out loud lol) was absolutely delectable and my personal favorite - the tender chicken melted in your mouth as it danced with the complex spices and hint of chocolate. Topped off with a tangy little tomato and creamy avocado - each bite was so amazing I had to sit back and savor every note. The Ham, Gruyère, Tomato was my mom's favorite - the thick cut ham, melty cheese, and tomato with that thin layer of mustard wrapped in a light, fluffy crepe was splendid. The addition of the avocado on top took away some of the sharpness from the mustard, making each bite creamy, tangy, a little sharp, and savory. Chef Michel was so polite and sweet - once he was finished preparing orders, he walked around the seating area, greeting guests, and sitting down to have friendly conversation with them. The young man helping him when we were there was also so kind and helpful - I even caught a glimpse of him hand-picking flowers for the finishing touch on our dishes!
