Dropped in with no reservation on a Saturday for brunch. It was almost empty so I got a table immediately. The service was so friendly and fast. It's not much of a vibe and sadly the food is just okay. Mg biggest issue is how much you could taste that the empanadas were fried in old oil. I'm a little annoyed that they explicitly added an alcohol charge and tax to my bottomless meal when I didn't order a drink but I expect this place is struggling financially. Can't say I recommend and I probably won't be back.

This one kind of pains me to have it be 3 stars. Here's the thing. We've just had better tapas other places. Also, we went for dinner, not Brunch, which people have said is amazing. Let's break this down: The good: All the food was nice. The Scallops main was good and the corn salsa was amazing. The Sangrias we ordered, the Tita and the Blanca were very good, the latter especially. We got a special soup and the seafood was nice and the soup had good flavor. Across the board the flavors were really good. The service was super friendly and absolutely lovely. The Meh: Honestly, the soup. But I think that's preference. We both just prefer heartier seafood soups. The Empanadas were fine, but my partner (for some reason she cant quite describe) did not like them. The chips with the guacamole felt store bought in bulk and not fresh. Food wise is was all just okay despite really good flavors. The funny: We were mistakenly given an order of the bacon wrapped dates that were clearly meant for another table. But we realized too late and couldn't find a server to flag them down. Honestly, I think they just misheard us. We didnt check if we were charged. Probably the most whelming dinner we've had since moving to Silver Spring. IT could've been what we ordered, but who knows.

The staff at La Malinche is super friendly, which is always a plus. For my visit, I had an easy, breezy margarita and happy hour nachos. The restaurant has a pretty generous happy hour special with food and beverages ranging from $5 to $15. I really enjoyed the nachos because they were made with queso blanco (I think). While my visit was very short, I'm looking forward to visiting again and trying out more dishes....and margaritas.

My friends and I went here yesterday for brunch and it was my first time at this restaurant. I tried 5 items off the menu. I loved the empanadas and pancakes the most. Sadly the chorizo omelette was too salty. It could have been the sausage but I couldn't finish it and felt a bit I'll afterwards. The staff were very attentive and we sat conveniently near the bar so they were always ready to refill our glasses. The decorations at this establishment are breathtaking. I absolutely love the artwork. The price point came out to about $52/pp for the three of us and that includes gratuity. That's a pretty great deal I'm my book. I want to try it this place again for dinner.

We had the chorizo and skewered chicken and frankly it was a rip off. $10 for two pieces of sausage. It wasn't even that great. The chicken was OK. But two skewers of chicken for that much?! This is not a real tapas restaurant. It's an insult. There are several main dishes that would've been great meals probably, but the tapas were mediocre, low effort small plates of over priced food. Insulting. With the flan, this meal should not have cost $40 edit: Came back to edit my review. The "suggested" tipping amounts on the receipt do not match the total on the bill. Either they cannot do math or it's a scam... Either way, RED FLAG.

Still just a good! Good portion sizes. Excellent flavors. The tinta is heavenly but if you like sweeter drinks go with the Cava. You won't be disappointed! Food is almost as authentic as it gets. The only tapa I didn't like was the croquetas de pollo. Taste more like a fish stick. Loved both empanadas but the chicken was the winner. Waitress was excellent!

I had the spinach salad, Pan a la Catalana y Platanos Fritos. Disappointed in the bread. I expected it too be crispy. The Fritos were fine but nothing spectacular. The spinach salad was spinach with a trail mix on top. Couldn't finish. Atmosphere was pretty odd. It was mostly empty. Artwork was interesting. I can't say that I would return although the servers seemed kind but very new at their job. I go the sense it was a family running the business that had no actual experience in running a restaurant. Disappointing.

For years, literally, we've tied to come here for dinner before a show at the Fillmore. Every other time we've ended up at the Panera. This time we finally made it. Wow!! It was quiet and we were promptly seated. Started with a Negro Modelo and their Smokey Paloma. It was delicious. We are the following: House guacamole and chips Beef and chicken empanadas The scallops with corn salsa Chicken tacos Patatas bravas Churros Look this was delicious. Every dish was perfectly seasoned. Clearly fresh. Our server gave all the recommendations and she was on the money. Here's the proof in the pudding. We got the churros. They were amazing. My not super dessert loving and definitely not churro loving husband said he would get them again.

Atxondo really strikes me as an underrated gem. It's only about a mile walk from the Petworth Metro, is right on several bus lines and for us, coming from silver spring, the drive was a very easy ~15 minutes. Intrigued to hear how often people in the neighborhood come here. It's mostly a tapas style, so everything but the paella is smaller plates. Everything is wonderfully tasty. The mini chorizo, with the accompanying chips absorbing the chorizo liquid were awesome and our group also loved the cremini mushrooms. I love a good paella and Atxondo's is a standout. really wonderfull flavored and plenty for our group of 5. They say it's enough for 2-4, but unless its your only meal of the day, I fully think a group of 2 would have leftovers. It's definitely on our list to return

Hot toddy - waiter recommended, it's hot and has honey lemon taste like a tea but the alcohol is also a bit strong 2/5 Pineapple margarita - very very strong almost like straight alcohol lol 1/5 Red sangria - super well balanced and fruity! Very yummy 4/5 White sangria - a little bit sharper alcohol flavor and less well balanced but still good 3/5 Embutido Combo - Jamon Serrano, Salchichon de Vic, Chorizo Iberico - I'm not sure which is which so going by the picture left to right. A little spicy, overall good quality but I do think they put a bit too much oil which made it have an extra oil taste 2.5/5 Middle - like prosciutto this is the best one! Not dry at all in any area and not too salty 3.75/5 Right - least favorite but it is still good overall. Taste a little less yummy than the one on the right even though the one on the right is too oily 2/5 Queso Mahon - rich and cheesy. Not too sticky and very soft. I like the little fruit it comes with too 3/5 Seared scallop - usually squid in rice I feel like is just color but this one was super savory and delicious with a unique taste too that I'm thinking must be from the ink! It's made super well and the crispy sear on the scallop adds so much flavor but also the scallop was not overcooked at all, super bouncy and tender. 4.5/5 Spanish risotto - very moist and yummy! Even though it's just vegetables it's made well 3.75/5 Crispy pork belly - falls apart and very tender. Not dry at all! Unfortunately too salty though. Also very heavy. Meat too salty but veggies it came with like potato that soaks up the flavor was like inedible too salty 2/5 Seafood paella - I think it came out a bit faster than 40 minutes but I didn't keep track. Large serving size! Wish there was more seafood but lots of rice! Very moist and flavorful rice, seafood flavor comes through too! Wish they cooked it longer though since bottom is not crispy at all. Shrimp is overcooked unfortunately but individually seasoned. All the squids and octopus don't have much flavor but cooked well and not chewy at all. Mussels were good too but had some weird webbing on some pieces that made me not want to eat it and size is a bit small. Needs more seafood to balance the rice amount 4.25/5 Crimini mushroom - weird with the poached egg especially since there's a bunch of mushroom liquid below that I think would mix weirdly together. But ignoring that, the mushrooms themselves were very flavorful and actually taste really great with paella! 3.75/5 Basque cheesecake - very heavy and dense. Jam is not too sweet which is nice 1.5/5 Churros - very airy and light inside! The fried part is more than double the inside though so wish that was a little less thick so it can be a little less oily but still overall light. Came very warm and the dipping sauces were very liquidy. Chocolate is on the darker side which is a nice match 3/5

I forget the name of the sandwich, but it had eggs, chorizo, plantains, and something else that I cannot remember. Although I was a bit surprised the sandwich was around 8 bucks, I understood why when the sandwich came out because it was HUGE. Put it like this, the sandwich kept me full for a good 4-5 hours, so it definitely was worth the eight dollars. While waiting for my sandwich, curiosity got the best of me, and I ended up buying a few pastries for later. The sandwich, coffee, and four large pastries were about $16. Overall, I thought my sandwich was absolutely delicious...especially the bread/roll that it was served on/with. Like I said earlier, the sandwich was jammed packed with eggs, chorizo and plantains. Throughout the weekend, I tasted the pastries, and I thought all of the were pretty delicious. Unfortunately, I do not know which pastries I purchased because many were not labeled. To be honestly, I completely picked the pastries at random. One of the things that I enjoyed about the pastries: none of them were overly sweet. For me, they had just the right amount of sweetness, which might be considered bland for others. The bakery is kind of small, in terms of dining in, because it has about 2-3 small tables. However, the bakery seems more like a place to grab food (or pick up orders) and go. While eating, I was the only one who actually ate their food inside of the restaurant. I thought the two women behind the counter were exceptionally nice. Also, interacting with them gave me a chance to practice my Spanish. Overall, I thought this was a great random find, and I'm looking forward to returning and trying some more of their delicious pastries and other platos fuertes.

The service experience was quite memorable and funny. There were differences in language barriers, but we still made it work out in the end. I was overwhelmed, to say the least, as I was completely new to the experience of a Spanish bakery, so I got suggestions from the workers, Yelp & Google, and what caught my eye. I ended up spending $43.20 total and got: Brazo gitanos $2.75, torta $3, pan de pina $1, steak egg and cheese sandwich $10.75, tipico platter $14, flan $5.50, pork & cheese pupusa $2.75, and chicken & cheese pupusa $3.50. Also, I was excited to try the tres leches, but they didn't have any at the time. - The brazo gitanos is like a pound cake with a cherry/strawberry swirl, and it was alright. - The torta was my favorite bakery item as it tasted the best, and was elevated further when I warmed it up. - The pan de pina is a Spanish pastry with pineapple "jam" in the center, and it was alright. - The steak egg and cheese sandwich was my favorite item. The Spanish bread paired well with the ingredients to create a great flavor with every bite. - The tipico platter was decent, but I wish I had gotten more portions of the chorizo because the portion I got was limited. One thing that makes it truly amazing is combining all of the platter items on their homemade tortillas to create a sensational taco of taste and flavor. - I'm not a fan of flan (it's alright), but theirs was pretty decent. - The pupusas (pork & cheese and chicken & cheese) were great, and they might just be the best pupusas I've had. Overall, I enjoyed my experience at El Sabor. I would recommend it and be open to returning (maybe next time they will have tres leches available).

The staff at the bar are very friendly and helpful. The manager of the food service program for this hotel and restaurant is Blessing and he's amazing! He offers the best service and is very friendly and outgoing! His staff is also perfect! Manna, one of the servers, was very helpful and friendly, definitely appreciated her going the extra mile to ensure we were being taken care of each time we all visited. The food... unfortunately that's a different story... The rib eye was pretty tasty, but was only 1/2" thick. No rib eye should ever be cut that thin. The burger had a hard, almost stale bread, but the meat was decent. The chicken wings were horrible, I could hit them with the fork and they sounded hard, like hitting hard plastic. Even though our food was taken care of in this restaurant for the week, we chose to eat at other places a few nights. I attribute this to the lack of having fresh food, since they aren't very busy for lunch and dinner. But when it came to breakfast, they had really good scrambled eggs! The toast bread on the buffet at breakfast was somewhat dried and stale, but the bacon was awesome. Their OJ was really good too. One thing they did REALLY NICE was their salads.... I enjoyed salad every day, whether for lunch or dinner and the lettuces and everything else were very fresh! Their balsamic dressing is made in-house and is really tasty... absolutely loved it and tried it several times! The venue was clean and nicely set-up/decorated. We enjoyed being there for hours, sitting and enjoying wine or drinks over nice conversation. They do have a decent selection of wines available. They also have a happy hour which is pretty decent. So, while staying at this property, I would suggest stopping in... at a minimum, enjoy happy hour for a drink and maybe something to nosh on. If you are planning to visit during popular dining hours, it might be worth it to make a reservation. We arrived during a weekend around 5:30 pm, and the place was somewhat empty. However, by 6-6:15 pm, the place was PACKED. I was a very surprised (in a good way) that the menu was a bit smaller compared to other Mexican/Tex-Mex restaurants in the area. I necessarily do not think the smaller menu is a bad thing because, with a smaller menu, a restaurant can focus on preparing everything well (i.e., it's easier to do a good job with 20-item menu versus a 50+-item menu). For my dining pleasure, I went with the enchiladas suizas with a few margaritas. Overall, I thought my plate was very delicious; however, other diners at my table and I noticed that the portion sizes were a bit small for the price. Perhaps, the restaurant uses higher quality ingredients for its dishes. Although the margarita sizes might appear to be small, they definitely are not "small" in power/punch, so the $13-$18 price range is appropriate. My favorite margarita of the night definitely was the El Jardinero, which was a wonderful mix of carrot, cilantro, peach, lime and a semi-spicy pepper of sorts. Collectively, we all thought the service was exceptional because our waitress constantly visited the table. Personally, I thought it was a bit overkill, but that's a very, very minor complaint based on my very, very personal preference.
