It used to be well kept but now it's just run down and not maintained. Everything just feels sticky. When we got here someone greeted us and then disappeared into the back. Two more parties walked in the door and no one came out. Finally an employee who was actually on break came to help us. I felt so bad that she had to do that and made sure she knew that she was appreciated. But the issues kept rolling... My son got the salmon with broccoli and beans. Everything was cold! I got the baked potato soup. This was like warm but the bacon was ice cold! My other son got the chicken and his was luke warm at best. Let me tell you something about this establishment. They have the most incredible customer service ever! My sweetheart and I patronized them today. We love la Madeleine. Their baked goods are so delicious. But I'd never stopped at this particular location. Everything in the display looked amazing and they were baking as we were ordering so the products are fresh. After debating what to get, I settled for a pumpkin streusel muffin, 3 lemon madeleines, an oatmeal raisin pecan cookie, and a creme brûlée- not planning to eat it all in one day, don't judge. My sweetheart got 2 apple tarts, all to go. We could tell they were busy, probably short staffed, but we didn't mind waiting for our goodies. The order was handed to us in a paper bag, and we headed home. I arrived and put everything away in the refrigerator, and it took me a second to realize that the crème brûlée was missing. How disappointed I was! How upset! I live about 30 minutes from the store so I was not about to drive back. I called them, hoping to get a gift certificate for next time, or something like that. This wonderful manager offered to DELIVER it to my home. 1 hour later, I get a delivery of my delicious crème brûlée, and some gift certificates. They made my day! They went above and beyond, and I am impressed. This level of customer service is solely missed in the modern society, period. I don't know what to say except thank you for going above and beyond. I had an order delivered through DoorDash earlier this week when I had a craving for some French Onion Soup. Pun intended, it absolutely DELIVERED when it came to flavor! Also ordered some pastries and desserts, I was spoiled when I had the ham and cheese pastry...so flaky and buttery. It was enough to call it a meal for sure, not a snack. I was driving by here after making a run to Costco today...and decided to splurge and come by once again. It is a little confusing when you walk in- there is a big display of desserts and items, I waited here for a bit until someone told me to walk all the way down to the other end of the restaurant to place an order. It was hard to remember everything that I wanted to try, but I did my best to place my order. I think it's a little less expensive per item when you purchase it directly from the store, plus I think you're supporting the restaurant more than DoorDash when you do this. Convenience is nice for sure- but sometimes you want to spend the money on yourself, not the 3rd party website. That being said, today I went with a pastry that was savory- but when I read that it had mushrooms, I had to call an audible and change it up to a quiche. Not a big deal, I haven't had the chance to eat yet but I know I will devour it when it is time for dinner. I also decided to get a couple individually sized chocolate tarts and creme brulee in foil ramekins. I know these taste good, because I had them earlier in the week. I expect during the football game tonight I am going to be splurging big time. Service was excellent, they are very busy around lunchtime and it looks like they have lots of dine in options as well as a robust take out/delivery service. I did not enjoy my breakfast here. To begin with the eggs were clearly powdered eggs such as what you get at a free hotel breakfast at Hampton Inn without the low price. WOW a great place to go for a variety of French entrees and pastries. It's very packed especially Sunday's around noon. Their dining experience is a hybrid of cafeteria style and traditional dining. You can choose and pick up soups, side salads, and pastries such as quiche and potato patties from the bar and everything else you ordered will be served to your table. At the drinks station they have their unlimited bread and jam available for you to take at your own convenience. Bread is fresh baked and sliced for top quality taste. The ingredients in the meals were very fresh and the entrees were seasoned very well and not overly salty. The greens such as spinach and lettuce in our salad were fresh and not limp or browned testifying to the restaurants priority in using good ingredients. I've been eyeing this place for the longest time - French cafe? Sign me up! But I just haven't been able to actually make it over until now. It definitely did not build up to the hype in my head. La Madeleine is a cafeteria-style French cafe. The inside isn't particularly decorative or anything special. When you walk in, there's a pastry display on your left with its paying station next to it. Next, a pick up station for online orders. Then, the cafeteria line. I would suggest looking at the menu beforehand (stands near the door) before entering the line as it might be difficult to know what to get as options are not clearly labeled. The server fills up your plate, hands it to you, and then you check out. There's a free bread station as well, but that's nothing special either. Store brought bread was better. I had the salad sampler - potato soup, tomato penne pasta, and chicken salad. The potato soup was alright, but was extremely fatty. The bacon I got in my soup was clearly undercooked. The pasta was alright, nothing special. And the chicken salad was actually decent but didn't taste super fresh. I believe this plate was $10. At the end, I had a caramel apple danish that looked great, but was underwhelming in flavor and texture. The puff pastry was rather dense and didn't taste fresh at all. The apples also didn't taste fresh. They tasted like they came out of a can. I've had better pastries from Lidl and Publix, in all honesty. $4 wasted on a pastry here. TLDR; If you're looking for a French cafe experience, this is not it. If you're looking for quick food that's slightly above fast food and there's no Chick-fil-A in sight, La Madeleine might be worth your time. read more

My mother's favorite place which has never failed to please. I consider it more of a soup and sandwich place but they have decent entrees and great desserts. I feel it a bit overpriced but the place has this french rustic/country decor with a fireplace in the middle that it makes you feel cozy. The place always seems packed but the staff has usually been great and like mentioned before, decent and nice food. My mom's to go place when she wants a calm ladies night with either friends or my sister and I. Oh man I'm in love! This place had all the right stuff. Maybe it was because I was starving at the time or maybe it was just that damn good, but as you can see I only took one pic I was over in Gwinnett area and even though it was 3 in the afternoon I wanted some brunch, so naturally I turned to Yelp and sadly almost every place was closed. From where I was at and where I needed to be back at in 30 minutes this place was very convenient, about an 8 minute drive. GPS for the location in the actual shopping complex took me around the way, but if you stop and look around you can easily find it. I was welcomed as soon as I came in, the girl at the register was very friendly, and was kind enough to answer any questions that I had. In total I had the Strawberry Romanoff French Toast, Croque Madame which comes with a with a side of wild field salade, with a very nice dressing, vinaigrette I believe, a potato cake (the exact name of it escapes me), and an iced latte. Did I say I was hungry? In total it was about $29 and I left an $11 tip, so $40 right on the money. I immediately at the potato cake and I'm not sure if it comes with it out if the server was just nice enough to give it to me, but there was this mushroom sauce that just, ohhh, it was amazingly delicious. There were a couple of people around and I kept looking to make sure I wasn't eating like a savage beast because it was sooo good I am not much of a coffee person, but I could drink their iced lattes all day! I got caramel and drank every bit of it. I had the French toast later in the day as desert. I don't know if they put some cognac in the icing but I got a buzz off of it when I was done, but it too was absolute culinary perfection! The madame I ate for lunch the following day. The egg really sets it off. I would definitely come back here and am thankful to find there is a location closer to where I leave. This place deserves more love. I come to places for the food and the service. I think that I did not fully understand how it worked but you order at the counter first and then take a seat. I figured it out . This was literally my last day in ATL and I wanted to eat a really good breakfast. I ordered the Cinnamon French toast and 2 eggs scrambled hard and 2 sausage. I think either I made a mistake or the cashier on the order. I did not make a big deal but, asked if I could order the sausage from the table. My food runner brought the sausage at no charge even though I was insisting on paying. That was so beautiful to me. The food was scrumptious. Happiness and goodness in every bite. It was hard to leave a bite at the end but, I still did, in order to observe fine dining habits that I prefer to keep. I love this place. The food was phenomenal! And my experience was amazing! I sure will miss it as there is not one that I know of in the state in which I am moving. Their soups and salads are pretty tasty and it's awesome that they offer unlimited bread. It's also pretty elegant and they teach you French if you go to the bathroom (overplaying looping soundtrack of French phrases). However, I guess I wasn't impressed with their service as far as the service went. It was a little busy, but I didn't think it was so busy that they couldn't communicate the proper order that we thought we were getting. The water tasted a little weird too. The place was packed when my sister and I stopped in on a Sunday morning/afternoon. I had the pick two deal they had going. Sausage quiche and the strawberry salad. I also got one of the potato cake thingys. Every, single, bit of it was delicious. They have a tiny bread bar at the end of the drink section and for free, you can get samples of breads with butter and their house made jams. Delicious! The set up is beautiful. Wood burning fire place in the middle of the dinning room. Very comfortable and quaint. They do need to set up a sign or have someone tell you how to order because we were beyond confused. For about $9, I thought the trio was a good deal. It comes with halves of two different specials (I got the friands) and soup/salad (I got the cup of mushroom soup). I know plenty of people that LOVE La Madeleine, but I am just not one of them. There's two reasons: 1. Only if you come in when it's not busy do you get your food in a reasonable amount of time. They seem to be super understaffed. There's been plenty of times where they've messed up my food or forgotten my food or both. You can avoid this problem by ordering stuff that's already made (but then your choices are limited). 2. The food is only mediocre. I've never had anything here that made me think "this is so good". This spot is in a hidden area but is definitely worth giving a try. We ordered at the start of the line and as we moved down, they gave us our sides. They got it out pretty quick. The last was nice with us although she did forget to add the chicken i ordered with my omelette but she didn't charge us so i didn't mind it. We were surprised at how much food we got for the price. The dishes were brought out right to our table and served pretty fast. We started off with the french onion soup which i loved and highly recommend. Although, I saw that the OJ was poured right from a carton that you can get from Walmart and is priced over 3$. I would recommend getting a coffee as it's unlimited refills for 3$. Great food, not so great service. From start to finish it was apparent the employees are doing the bare minimum. When ordering, checking out and trying to get a to go box it just felt like employees were not proactive. For example, I went to get in line to ask for a to go box, the person in front of me checks out and the cashier just walks away. Another person walks up but is organizing stuff and doesn't acknowledge me. The person behind the beverages is standing there staring off into space. I would not recommend this place I was excited to try a new place out with my one year old daughter. I sat and ate an entire breakfast and no one even asked me if I'd like a high chair for my daughter. I ate quickly and decided to leave. But first I thought I'd get a tasty dessert. I was excited to get home and enjoy the dessert being that the service was so horrible but I wanted to give the restaurant a chance. I got home and opens the dessert box to mold on the fruit toppings of the cheesecake. I am very disappointed I even went here :( read more
