This place looked nice but walking inside we quickly realized they're made to serve large tourist groups. It was very loud inside and the white light didn't create an inviting atmosphere. The pasta al amatriciana was ok but the sea food pasta didn't taste great and a lot of the mussels were closed. Service was unattentive, we had to ask to order and ask for bread and ask for anything. read more

Had a great experience here. Was recommend by the hotel, went and sat outside immediately. Service was superb. Was everything we could have asked for. Took a couple pics but was trying to enjoy more than anything so didn't get pics of it all. The clams were magnificent. The minestrone was excellent, noodles still had chew to them. Veal was perfect, and they deboned the fresh sea bass and sea bream tableside. Not pictured was the excellent cacio e pepe or the gnocchi with meatballs that were the softest most tender thing ever. Our hotel's concierge recommended La Lampada for our first night in Rome. It ended up being a tremendous start to our time in Rome! We got a nice street side table. By around 8pm, it had cooled off enough outside. Our waiter was awesome, he delivered solid recommendations. His first recommendation was an appetizer that was featured on the menu, otherwise it might not have occurred to me to select it. My wife and I ended up loving it. Crispy artichokes, shrimp, and pistachios are all things that I love. Putting them together ended up being a great idea, such an amazing dish! I had the trippa alla Romana for an entree, the flavor and texture were perfection! We also had grilled eggplant, Caprese salad, and roasted artichokes. The roasted artichokes were absolutely heavenly! Perfectly cooked! My wife enjoyed a fish that they deboned table side. My daughters shared a nice pasta dish. Great all around meal! read more

This place was well rated and within easy walking distance of our hotel. Overall we had a very nice meal here. Strangely, the service was excellent at first, with our server very engaged and offering suggestions. Near the end of our meal though he became engaged in preparing for the dinner rush (cutting bread, etc.), and seemed to completely forget us. We might have ordered a dessert, but were never really offered the opportunity. As most places in Rome, this is a fairly small restaurant, so it feels relatively intimate, though the lighting is bright which limits the romantic feeling. read more

Highly recommended by a handful of folks (locals and non locals) Ordered: *spaghetti and meatballs-$12 euros. Small portion. Lacked flavor. Please ask for cheese to add on top or else it'll be very bland. *beef steak-no seasoning at all. Meat was tender but with a lot of fat. The waiter did not ask me how I wanted my steak cooked. So it came out a bit medium rare. It came with looks like a want to be salad and a lemon wedge. I had to squeeze lemon and sprinkle tons of salt to give It any flavor. My husband and I were both pretty disappointed in our meal. Price wise it wasnt overly pricey. Service wise they were decent but then again the place was pretty empty. I'm not sure if we ordered the wrong items that's why we were so disappointed. But to this yelper I'm giving them a solid 2 stars. When we were in Rome we made a point of eating here once a day, it is that good. Since then we have told many people about it and their reactions were the same! Simply the best! On our last night in Rome they prepared a special meal for us and the waiters ate with us! It was fabulous! RIPS OFF TOURISTS! DO NOT COME HERE!! Our family went to grab dinner here since it was close to our apartment. The waiter brought out bread (which is free & included with all other restaurants). After eating our mediocre meals, we noticed an additional 12€ charge on our bill. We noticed that the charged was for BREAD!!! They charged us 12€ for bread!! UNREAL! After speaking to the waiter his response was "i just work here". He couldn't give a reason as to why it was charged for 12€. I have never heard of a restaurant charging customers for bread before a meal. UNREAL! We will NEVER return here again. The bread was also terrible.. if you're going to charge for bread it at least better be good. TERRIBLE!!!! read more

The restaurant was recommended by a friend who visited Rome with his family a few years ago. My family and I were not disappointed. We started with the prosciutto, caprese, and mussels. The mozzarella on the caprese was so fresh and creamy. The mussels were perfect, and the prosciutto may be the best I've ever had. For our first course, we had the gnocchi, spaghetti carbonara, lasagna and the egg drop soup. The egg drop soup was something we'd never tried before, and not something we'd try again. It wasn't bad, but was just like wet scrambled eggs. The lasagna was good. The carbonara very good, and personally I found the best dish the gnocchi. The gnocchi were homemade and you could tell in their texture. Only my son was hungry enough for a second course. He got the grilled sea bass. It was fresh and succulent and deboned table side. The restaurant also offers a buffet. My friend had suggested we do that, and I hadn't even noticed it when I came in. It definitely would have been a cool way to different dishes. Went there for our first meal in Rome. I got the gnocchi and my daughter got the risotto. Not sure why this restaurant didn't show up when I was searching for it, but we were walking around and found this place by luck at 10:30 PM. The food seemed to be authentic as it wasn't like anything I had before in the states. Risotto was al dente and the gnocchi was good. Their service was good, but their English is limited so they are not going to be super outgoing. Just flag them if you need something. They will oblige. A great start to our trip. read more

This review is a long time coming. This is the restaurant that sticks in my mind and I want to go back. I was in Rome on business. My co-worker and I found this place by accident. OMG (understatement). We ended up eating (enjoying) here 4 nights straight before they had to drag us out of Rome. We closed the restaurant the last 2 nights. The food is amazing. The service is amazing. but the thing that made it most memorable was the feeling of family. The first night the small place was filled. We waited a few minutes, the waiters, not wanting us to wait, cleared a table for two that they had set-up for them to make the anti-pasta, then seated us. The romance had begun. By the end of our love affair with this special place, the servers treated us like we were friends of the family. for instance, even though we ordered wine, they would come over with different wines and pour us a glass and tell us about, I'm paraphrasing, the pedigree of the wines. I got hooked on the lamb chops. If your in Rome. There are many great restaurants but this place, to me is special. The food here speaks for itself. A great place, especially for being so close to the train station. When I was there, on the later end of a weekday lunch, I was the only non-local. The waiter was great, really making an effort with my poor Italian and being very attentive. My spaghetti with black truffles was fresh, and my husband loved his beef meatballs. The house white wine (they had a dry and semi-dry option) was very good. I had the Cacio e Pepe, which was just ok, but my husband had the Gorgonzola gnocchi and it was amazing - totally melted in your mouth. The caramel panna cotta was delicious as well. Fantastic authentic restaurant. We came here 2 of our 3 nights in Rome, and regretted not coming all 3 nights. The owners - Giacomo and his colleague - make you feel welcome immediately. Inside, the restaurant is clean, simple, and authentic. Bread is freshly sliced and brought to your table. 1st night, we ordered the porcini pasta which was unbelievable. Perfectly cooked, with layers of earthy fresh mushrooms, white wine and garlic. Saltimbocca was incredibly flavorful with sage and prosciutto. Artichokes cooked in mint and garlic were in season, fresh, and tender. All was complimented by a bottle of Chardonnay from Alto Adige (about 20 euro) - really good producer and delicious wine. My companion ordered the pasta pomodoro and veal piccatta, both delicately flavored. 2nd night, I had to order the porcini pasta again - it was as good as the night before. We both ordered the roasted lamb chops with lemon - delicious and best eaten with your fingers. A side of roasted potatoes and chicory - in season were great accompaniments to the lamb. We chose the house red wine - Montepulciano, fruity, simple, unoaked, nice with the lamb. No room for dessert but it all looked great. It is located on a side street off Via Flavia, around the corner from our hotel, and cheaper (and better food) than the restaurants on Via Flavia. Cannot recommend this place more highly. read more
