Nice set up here at LA Kings Iceland. We enjoyed the clean facility, bathrooms are well stocked and the skates were well maintained. Plenty of bench seating to spectate as well. Bring your layers, beanies, gloves, snow pants if you have any, get comfy and enjoy the ice cold skating rink! Snack vending machines, coffee machine too in the seating area. We have brought our kids here for public skating a few times and they do enjoy it. Skate rentals are included in the price but it is still pricey for the short amount of time my kids are able to handle skating. It does get very cold and can get quite busy. The most recent times we have came, the ice was horrible even at the beginning of public skating times though. read more

My son loves skating, or should I say love's when dad pushes him at Super Sonic speeds down the ice. These little seats are great! It lets him sit down when he's tired (but not dad, I have to stay on the ice more than a hockey player). Great place to hold a birthday party, little rooms on the side give you a place to sit while you sing Happy Birthday or Las Mañanitas. My daughter fell asleep and missed out on the ice. The facility was nicely cleaned up since the Kings took over. They brought in new boards and glass, and added displays highlighting the history of the venue and Kings. The facility is home to the first Zamboni, which is on display in the lobby. The locker rooms are small. Parking can be problematic during tournaments, but there is a private lot and plenty of street parking. They have skate rentals, but no snack bar so bring you own coffee or stop by Starbucks on the way. read more

The ice has gotten worse and worse over the past couple of years, even since the LA Kings bought the rink. Not only is the ice bad, but the staff is unhelpful, unfriendly and sometimes just nonexistent. There is a new policy for locker rooms that seems to target ice hockey players. The ice quality here is absolute trash and lowkey dangerous. If you're going to charge $18 for a public session I expect better ice.

Parked along the street. We had a group of 15 people. Ice skating here was a bonding activity for sure. There was ample space for beginners to have their perimeter and faster skaters to zoom around. They also have carts for kids to rent out. We were here from 7-9pm. All in all, a very magical and memorable experience read more

I definitely recommend iceland. They only have one ring in the whole building but they manage it really well. The ice is a lot smoother than other ice hockey rinks. We originally found this place on groupon. When your child plays Ice Sports it gets really expensive so we did try to find the most economy way of getting him ice time. Goes for lessons once a week and he gets complimentary public skate sessions for him and guess. With this groupon. Not sure if it's still active but definitely worked checking it out. After we use that coupon we ended up getting the membership and paying for additional classes. We love it. read more

They provided us with all the necessary equipment, including skates and gloves and gave us a brief safety lesson before we hit the ice. The venue itself was also great. The rink was well-maintained, clean, and spacious. There was plenty of room for everyone to skate around without feeling crowded or cramped. The lighting was perfect, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere for everyone to enjoy. The party space was also very nice. There was a designated area for us to gather, complete with tables, chairs, and decorations. We were able to set up our own food and drinks, and the staff was kind enough to provide us with extra tables and chairs when we needed them. Overall, I would highly recommend having a birthday party here to anyone looking for a fun and memorable event. Old school ice rink, perfect for a night out for friends, a date, or something to do with the family... that is, if you don't mind getting your butt wet. We used to go often in the 90s, our highlight being ordering "hot chocolate, no ice" to drink around the fireplace. But what makes it cool (besides the air conditioning and refrigeration) is the HISTORY. The city (not known as Paramount until 1948) was a world leader and the largest receiving point for hay. With lots of dairies and a need to keep milk cold, Frank and Lawrence Zamboni quit working on cars and made ice for a living. I don't know what kind of training you need for that, but it's pretty cool. Literally. But with newly invented refrigerators threatening their business, they built an ice rink across the street from Zamboni Bros. ice plant as the sport grew popular. (It operated across California Avenue until it burned down.... yes, an ICE plant burning down). Anyway, Frank, who also invented the experimented with a patented idea of tanks of salt brine instead of steel piping to create a flatter, smoother ice sheet without the common rippling. With the help of cousin Pete they built Iceland in 1939, much to the delight of the post-World War Dutch families who would come and each pay their own way. Since 1940, Iceland has been a practice facility for many well-known, Olympic medalists including Sonja Henie, Richard Dwyer, Peggy Fleming, Robbie Robertson, and award-winning skating clubs, just to name a few. Even more special was that Iceland has what is likely the only pipe organ that is played regularly. And played irregularly if the organist is a little sleepy. The Mighty Wurlitzer from the 20s was installed in 1941. Another huge part of history is that over the decade Frank invented the Zamboni, a motorized vehicle resurfaces (shaves, washes, and squeegees) ice. The first Model A Zamboni is on display there. The Model B was built on a Jeep. The Model C had better visibility and held more water. Model D added an auxillary port for their I-phones. Not really. Just seeing if you're still paying attention. Their Model F with the added hydraulic snow-dumping system is now the industry standard. Just like Mr. Frisbee and Mr. Xerox, the brothers don't like that Zamboni has been a genericized trademark, but they are a part of popular culture. Frank was honored in 2013 with a Google Doodle, the game Plants vs Zombies has a Zomboni, there's a Gear Daddies song "I Wanna Drive the Zamboni" and Harry & Lloyd steal one in Dumb and Dumber. read more

I recently attended my Grandson's Junior Reign 12U BB game from Carlsbad against their Junior Kings squad. The Los Angeles Kings have done an excellent job renovating this facility. There are 4 rows of bench seats on the side opposite the team benches. New plexiglass enhances viewing the game from anywhere in the stands. My Grandson was very complimentary about the ice surface. It's a long drive from his Carlsbad facility, but was well worth it! read more

History is something that is all around us as we travel. We just don't realize that all the time nor do we specifically for it. LA Kings Iceland in Paramount is a prime example. You wouldn't necessarily think about visiting an ice rink on a family vacation, but what if this was California's oldest ice rink? This ice rink was also the training home for Olympic medalist Peggy Fleming, and was owned by the Zamboni family. That's right, Zamboni. It was here that they invented the first Zamboni in the 1940s and it is on display in their main lobby. You can also learn the history of this ice rink along with Zamboni family history. It's free to get in and look around. Plus there's even a LA Kings shop to pick up your favorite fan gear. read more

Very nice place to come for a date for public session or just for some passive time. For any beginner who would like to experience or learn to ice skate paramount Iceland is just the place. The only thing is they need to enforce people skating fast in between people and children crossing the rink when it's super busy. Think it's really dangerous and could prevent any future accidents or injuries. read more

It was very clean and a great place to bring your kids ice skating. It was not crowded like most places in LA.

Came here with my child's school. The ice rink is a typical ice rink but it isn't a pretty ice rink like the one in Pasadena. Also some of the skates you can rent are a bit torn with shoe laces that can't be placed in the upper holes because the ends are frayed. My kids are absolutely beginners at ice skating so much of their time was holding the edge of the rink and pulling themselves forward. There doesn't appear to be any supervision in the actual ice rink. Some people would stop at the edge and not let the beginners pass. This caused a massive bottleneck and forced these new skaters to try to get on open ice to pass. Many fell hard trying to do this. Then you have the teenagers who are chasing each other and trying to knock each other down. They don't care about the safety of the little kids who are skating and the ice rink doesn't appear to care. This is worse when you realize these kids have what amounts to a razor blade on the bottom of their feet. I personally won't be coming back again but you may find it more enjoyable than I did. YMMV. Oh they do have a snack area that are machines. The change machine can give you quarters to pay the machines. The hot drink machine is wonderful and provided pretty tasty coffee and hot chocolate. read more

My childhood ice skating rink, which was many years ago. I had the opportunity to my bring my school aged children to ic skate here. It was recently sold, and many upgrades were added. Very nice and new(er) inside. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Will definitely come back and highly recommend! read more

My family and I have been active members of the Paramount Iceland community for over 6 years. The coaches, trainers, synchro instructors , and staff all deserve 6 stars. Darlene Sparks in particular is an exceptional coach and human being and has grown the community at Iceland over 6 years by leaps and bounds. We travel over 20 miles just to train our kids with their instructors. Now for the reality check, the rink and facility is in disrepair. The owners who I believe are the Zamboni family need to realize that it is an embarrassment to their father's legacy to have that place looking so bad on the inside. To be honest I have never seen a more poorly maintained facility. Their are falling ceiling pieces, holes in the walls, cracking paint and an overall sense of abandonment. The staff have built such a welcoming sense of community that a lot of us turn a blind eye to how bad the place looks. However as the years go by it just keeps getting worse and the owners don't seem to realize what a gem they have despite their neglect. read more

I have not been here since they have updated Iceland to "LA Kings Iceland." I decided to try out the adult bronze class (first tier/beginners) and was very dissatisfied. Online it states "Classes are organized for adults 15+ and designed for any beginner to acquire the necessary skills to enjoy the sport of Ice Skating for a lifetime." To my understanding, this means "ANY" beginner. I do not have any experience on the ice and figured this would be the right class for me. I was definitely wrong when I experienced the first day of class. The curriculum online for adult bronze has "falling and recovery on ice" and "forward marching" as the first two bullet points for class. However, all we were told to do was "just march on the ice." No tips were given on how to skate better etc. We were "taught" how to swivel, dip, and skate backwards on the first day of class all squeezed in a span of 30 mins. I and 2 other classmates felt left behind. I did not learn anything. Even if I keep going to class, this would be a waste of money because I'd probably focus on trying to balance and teach myself how to skate. I do not recommend these classes if you have never skated before. The classes are falsely advertised. read more

I've been skating for about 8 years here and I've had so many great memories and I love this place so much! It's really fun to do with your friends and family and super cool! The staff is so so very nice and is pretty cheap! They have birthday party's and a hang out area to have snacks and chill out. They also have heaters if you get cold! I love this place! This place is pretty cool & it's good for starters or people who already know what they're doing. Everything here runs smoothly. Everyone goes the same direction so you're not bumping into people. The place is reasonably priced. I personally don't think it's expensive but I would recommend people buying their own skating shoes if you are going to be coming often. Definitely a good investment. The guys in the rink are very helpful & try to motivate beginners to get off the sides which is nice of them. The only thing is this place isn't well maintained.
