I even asked what do you know? Do i have half my orders? Is it in stock currently? I am picking up the order tomorrow, what can you tell me? And i was constantly provided with unhelpful non answers. Had we had to deal with this individual, we would not rate cabinet city so highly as there was not even a let me check with warehouse (right across in the adjacent building). There was basically a lack of knowledge or willingness to help (instead of saying i am not sure but i will find out, i get it there is no way of knowing). I am thankful Sherry was our go to person and i am also thankful to the warehouse staff who stepped up to help while the person behind the desk was ignoring customers and not even informing of a wait or someone going on break. Instead someone from the warehouse who picked my order came to me directly to help without me asking. Although every place has their pros and cons, i would say that this place is very lucky to have people like Sherry and the warehouse operators. In terms of product, i am not yet able to comment on the received materials as they are still in their boxes, but my wife and i do love the options at cabinet city especially compared to other companies out there. Pricing is more than fair as well. Picking up the order was also very straightforward and easy. So overall, the positives simply outweigh the negatives. I always hear nightmare stories of contractors stalling their jobs and trying to rip you off or not responding in a timely manner. But Amin and his team are truly professionals. Jose is like his right hand man and gets the job done. Not only getting the job done but does it very well. From his showroom, we were able to pick out all the designs that we wanted and seeing the end result, I was truly impressed. His prices are fair and he's upfront about everything. Amin will answer any questions you have throughout the entire process. Even if you text him at 9pm he will respond quick. If he says something will be done by a certain time frame, he will ensure that it is done. I really wanted LED mirrors at the end and he wasn't able to do it. We were even willing to pay extra for it! We ended up having to get plain, boring mirrors with no LED which was pretty disappointing. Also, one of the biggest issue I had was I wanted all the outlets changed since the previous ones were yellow and old but he said it'll be an additional charge. White walls and yellow outlets? EWWW!! We pretty much did a whole gut renovation and spent a fortune but couldn't get our outlets switched out. I thought it would be an easy switch but apparently he said it costs to change bc it has to do with the electrical aspect of it. Didn't know that but now I know. We ended up finding a handyman to do it at less than a fraction of his price. Although we had a few disagreements here and there but from start to finish, Amin was available to answer our questions, concerns and help fix anything. He is so easy to work with and made this whole process extremely seamless. The team was able to get everything done and we moved in on the date that we wanted to. They also offer services for custom tiling. Do they only accept cash, or can you pay with a credit card (a huge benefit for some to defer payment and earn bonus points). Is there a cash discount. Is there a discount for tying different purchases together as one big buy? It's always something shoppers are paranoid about when going to places that are not structured like Home Depot or Lowes. Usually, when encountering Asian, Latin and Middle Eastern vendors, it feels like prices are negotiable, and they often are. So, you always have the seeds of doubt on whether you got a good deal, the best deal or over-charged. You'll drive yourself crazy trying to optimize the pennies and even dollars. That's where you have to do your own research, and also figure out what your budget is. Also, it doesn't hurt to ask negotiation themed questions, the worst they can say is "no" So, the other aspect, a sometimes overlooked x-factor, is the integrity of the company and vibe you get from the staff on whether they'll provide you with good solid customer service. Too often, people will tell you what you want to hear and even stretch the truth to you in the name of the sale, but once they have your money, the relationship can quickly turn adversarial if you encounter any problems with the product or service. Use your gut intuition. First off, if you feel the least bit comfortable with the staff, and that's when they should be at their best, trying to earn the business and close the sale, then you know it's going to be downhill from there if you commit and encounter any issues. We recently purchased a 1950's home that was outdated and was looking to rejuvenate our home before moving in. We sent out various inquiries on Yelp and through referrals. Jay and Rui were very responsive and came out to give us a quote immediately without delay. Jay showed us his show room as well as various projects he was currently working on giving us more than enough reassurance that he'd be able to handle our project. Jay gave us a timeline and scope of work that met our desired budget and most of all he worked thoroughly with us to create the perfect floorplan. We had a gut feeling and decided to move forward with J&R Construction. Best decision ever. He started immediately sending in a huge crew to basically gut the interior of our home and remove a fireplace located in the center of our home. During the process, Jay was very responsive and gave us periodic updates on the process. His team were there nearly every single day working on our home. We were astonished how everything progressed so quickly. Throughout the process, Jay uncovered issues that he recommended adding to the scope of work such as water re-piping and electrical. The galvanized water pipes were leaking and extremely old. Our electrical panel was poorly done by the previous owner. We didn't have to but decided to add it to the scope. As he finished re-piping the home, I received a notification from my home insurance that they would be cancelling my insurance due to the old water pipes unless proof was provided that it was replaced. Jay provided documentation just a couple days later for me to submit to Mercury Insurance. They then revoked the cancellation. Phew! Fast forward 3 months later, Jay and his team finished the following: Structural/layout changes, plumbing re-pipe, electrical re-wiring of the whole house, whole home HVAC, attic insulation, whole home flooring, kitchen cabinets, retrofit all windows, interior painting, exterior doors, interior doors, masterclass kitchen and bathroom tiling, and so much more. He turned our 3 bed 1.5 bath home into a 3 bed 2 bath with a master bath and closet. I don't think any contractor could have redesigned our home the way Jay did.. not even close! If you have a BIG project and want to do it right, I 1000% suggest you give Jay a call. You won't be disappointed.
