Best gnocchi I have had in a very, very, long time. All the other dishes were just as good. Some other reviewers complain about the owner yelling but that is only because he wants everything to be done correctly and does not accept less. He was amazing to us and all the food was so good we went back several times. It is a small cozy place with a great authentic atmosphere. This place was close to my AirBnB. Although it didn't appear to be much at first, I actually enjoyed the food. There is a large menu selection. I ordered Cacio e pepe, a traditional Roman dish. It's a simple pasta dish with cheese and pepper. My friends loved the lasagna. I thought the restaurant was cozy. I liked how the walls were covered in different currencies. I'm going to give this place 5 stars for being one of the most memorable places on our trip. Come here if you want that "I'm eating in Italy" experience. The name literally translates to "fork of gold" and it really is a gem. While we ate there, musicians came by to sing. There are beautiful windows that let you gaze out into the street. The owner was so sweet in recommending dishes for us. The food is not fancy by any means but it is a good deal. My favorite out of what we had here was the meat lasagna! The hospitality here truly sets this place apart. The owner really made us feel like family there, giving us some of their limoncello and letting us write on their walls. Just checked in to our hotel and we are tired and hungry so we Yelp the closest restaurant and this popped up. The food is pretty good, we enjoyed but the down side is that they don't accept card. It's CASH ONLY but no where in the restaurant label that. They also bought us the fish we didn't order so we told them to take it back. When the bill come, they double charged us on 1 of the item, had to tell them to take that out. The total bill is $71. We don't have any Euros on us so, we asked if we can pay with USD and the owner said yes $100=$70 Euros. Gave him $100 and he still expect the $1. Lucky some nice guy eating heard us and changed for us $100=$85 and the owner was not too happy. We just walk out after we pay. Perfect 'local' Italian restaurant. Not for tourists who think they are at home. They made room for us on a busy night. Try to order in Italian, (use an app) and service was fantastico. Things start showing up you didn't order like meatballs, lemoncello, etc., and didn't show up on the bill! It was super busy, but service was authentic as was the fantastic food. I've officially made it my business to put this quaint family-run hidden gem on the map. This was my family's first meal after we landed in Rome and after 20+ more restaurants during our stay in Italy, we ended up coming back here for our last meal. I didn't believe my dad when we first arrived. He asked us for a pen and wrote "Good cook" on a dollar bill and taped it to their wall. He said, "This old man can cook and I never give people compliments". Little did I know at the time that he was right on the money. Here's some of their can't miss entrees we tried. All were unequivocally 5 stars: + Octopus salad: Gargantuan portion but it was also the best seafood salad we had tasted on our trip. Octopus was tender and served drizzled with EVOO and lemon on the side. I squeezed all the lemons into it before digging in and WOW, it was amazing and hands down, better than the 3 other restaurants we had this in. + Spaghetti with anchovies: If you love anchovies and pasta, I can't think of a better option than to try this dish. Pasta was al dente and the anchovies were delicious yet not too salty or distinct as to overpower the entire dish. I also didn't see this offering in any other restaurant during our stay so a great one to try if you're looking for something unique. + Spaghetti Bolognese: My brother, dad and hubby tried this dish (2 on the first trip and 1 on our final meal) and they unanimously agreed that this restaurant served up the very best version of the classic Bolognese and they had tried the same dish in 2 other local restaurants. + Spaghetti with cuttlefish ink: This was my entree during the first visit. Now I love squid ink like the next girl but put together cuttlefish ink (which is new to me), combine that with al dente pasta, tons of cuttlefish in a savory sauce and my mind was blown. + Strozzapreti pasta with mushrooms and shrimp: My entree on the second visit. I've never seen or heard of this pasta before and it's aka "Choke the Priest" pasta in English. Again, if you're looking to try something unique, do order this dish as it is a rare find and a house specialty dish. If you like that chewy, bouncy texture in your pasta, you can't go wrong. I loved it so much, I tried looking around for the pasta to bring home but couldn't find it in any of the shops :( + Pizza Classica (aka Margarita): My daughter was a fan! Thin crust with a healthy dose of cheese. She ate the rest of it the very next morning. Don't judge, we were on vacation ha! As if the food wasn't enough to keep us coming back, the owner also threw in a free appetizer, desserts and limoncello shots both times we were there! So if you're looking for some EXCELLENT off-the-wall homecooked Italian dishes, you have to make your way over here. Promise your taste buds won't forget the journey! This restaurant really didn't look like much walking by it but wow I'm so happy me and my boyfriend stumbled across it on our one day trip in Rome. The service was phenomenal. The food was incredible. They have so many choices, it was really hard to pick. I decided on the choke the priest pasta that came with shrimp and porcini mushrooms. The flavors were mouthwatering. I also had the grilled scampi as a side dish and wow it was so buttery smooth and delicious. My boyfriend had the beef steak with tomato and oregano sauce, the beef steak was tender and the flavor of the sauce was perfect. We ate so much until our bellies were ready to pop, but the owner gave us free dessert and we couldn't pass it up because it was the best tiramisu we've ever had. This is a one-man shop for the most part especially when you come in early like around 5:30pm. The place starts to get busy around 6:30pm. No waiting, no reservations. If the place is full you'll get escorted out. This was the to go place for dinner. Went here 3x and ordered different food. My favorite are the frutta de mare(good amount of seafood for the price) lasagna (simply amazing) funghi pizza and spaghetti bolognese. Wasn't too thrilled with spaghetti ala carbonara (too salty for me) and ravioli with walnut sauce (didn't like the filling of ravioli). The owner/chef was very nice to let us try the Tiramisu and it was really good. If you want to be part of the wall of nations, then bring a paper bill and pen with you. Stumbled here because it was a pasta place open til midnight on this side of town and was not disappointed. Cute little shop next to a few pizzerias and very easy to miss. Huge portions. The carbonara was pretty good as well as the carpaccio. The tiramisu was also delicious. Great service too from the waiter and manager and got to experience a bit t Italian news on the TV while looking at the walls. I love this place great service great food! I have come here a few times and every time I arrive I feel like I am entering a family kitchen the owner is so welcoming. The house wine is wonderful you can never go wrong ordering it. One of my favoritedishes here is the rabbit with mushrooms. The rabbit is so tender that it is falling off the bones. There is just enough garlics day herbs to this dish so it is not overpowering. If you able to still have room for dessert it is wonderful here. Almost everything is made in-house. The tiramisu is excellent with lots of espresso in it. Come here hungry since the proportions are rather large. This by far is one of my favorite go to places in Rome. read more

We stumbled upon this place on a Sunday night when not much Is open. It is a very small place with about 40 seats in a space that's about 12x25 feet (4x8 m) so it's very cozy. House wine comes in a chilled pitcher. I think there's only two people running the kitchen but when the place filled up after we sat down, they had no problem keeping up. First they served my tiramisu alone. Later they served the creps in a cup with a very strange ice cream without taste of vanilla at all and crystallized like it was very old. The kids could not eat it. At the end they served my cappuccino and we ended up with a bill at 25 euro. All too much in my opinion. Hands down, our favorite restaurant in Rome! We were in Rome for four days and we ate lunch and dinner here every day! (Yes, it's THAT good.) You will be greeted with a complimentary appetizer. On several occasions, it was bruschetta. On other occasions, something else. The bruschetta is the best bruschetta I've ever had. The pasta is delicious. I especially like the spaghetti carbonara. My boyfriend and I were in Rome for 3 nights. We ate dinner at this restaurant all 3 nights! We found it on a recommendation from our hotel, which was 2 minutes from the restaurant. We seriously lucked out!! This restaurant is small (maybe 10 tables max) and the decor is, well, simple. Tourists have taken to writing on the white walls with their names and where they're from. It's a bit unorthodox, but charming, too. The owner was there each night, greeted us with a huge smile, and brought us free appetizers on our second and third night. He loved that we kept coming back, of course. The food is the real reason to eat at this restaurant. The pizza is okay, not to die for, though the veggie pizza is quite delish and unique (cauliflower and zucchini - who would have thought?!). We loved the 'Choke the Priest' pasta - shrimp, short and twisted pasta, garlic, some veggies. Oh, my God. I ordered it twice! The veal (authentic Rome-style) was to die for. My boyfriend ordered it 3 times. He also loved the pasta with egg and bacon. No red sauce. The bruschetta starter is a must. The prosciutto starter is a must. EVERYTHING was delicious! The service was fantastic! The owner is constantly circling the restaurant, making sure that everyone is happy and eating. He has two servers who are so sweet and polite and super quick to help in any way. Oh, did I mention the pricing? Sooooo reasonable. We were so satisfied and stuffed each night, four courses, wine for about $50 total for 2 people! A guitar player stopped by the restaurant halfway through the evening and played softly. The food here is good but the owner is terrible. The service is slow and micromanaged. We ordered the squid ink pasta and a pizza. Both were tasty but the pasta did not look like the picture, or what we know squid ink pasta looks like. We didn't complain though. During our meal a musician stood in the doorway playing songs, after which he walked around the room and demanded money. Then, we were guilted by management for not ordering desert. More musicians came towards the end of the visit, but we dipped out before they too hassled us for money. This might be common practice in Italy but it made me very uncomfortable. We have been to several other restaurants where we didn't have to put up with that. The music wasn't even good either! It was obnoxious with terrible singing. The next afternoon we stopped by to get some tiramisu (which looked great). The restaurant was full and there was a line to get in. We told the waiter we would like to take it to go. He told us it would be two minutes. We waited around and then the owner came out and told us where to sit. The waiter told him we wanted to have desert to take away. We were then refused service, even though I know they have to go containers, since I got one the night before for my leftovers. I don't get why they would want us to monopolize a table when very large groups where waiting to get in behind us. Basically, the owner wants to control EVERYTHING. Even what you order. He won't let the waiter do his job. I have no idea why he has anyone else work there with him if he insists on doing everything himself. Trust me, there are way better places to eat in Rome with fabulous service. For example, That's Amore by Trevi. Go there instead. All around a way more pleasant experience. La Forchetta D'oro was a few blocks away from my hotel. I am currently backpacking alone and I am constantly looking for great/reasonably priced places to eat. This place has great quality food for an awesome price! I had the house wine and pesto gnocchi for dinner. The pasta portion was large, I went back to my hotel with a full stomach. The owner came out and gave everyone free limoncello and talked to each of the tables to ensure everyone had a satisfactory dinner. The waiters do not speak hardly any English, which is why I believe the complaints of slow service is valid. Another place near my hotel. Atmosphere galore it was packed with locals. Lots of laughter and I was seated quickly. A few large groups came and not sure how but they all got seated in 15 minutes. Owner and one helper who work non stop. Walls are covered in messages from those who have visited and dollar bills from countries lined another wall That said the food was good but not great and not wow. I had the spaghetti Gorgonzola and it was fairly bland. Good not bad. But not wow. Compared to my gnocchi with Gorgonzola the night before at another local place this was not as good. Also I'd say the big groups for more attention than the smaller tables. May have been they were regular Oreos. Not sure. That said. Pasta pop and a desert for 14 euro.
