I got a salami sandwich from here that was...okay. The sandwich was pretty big for $10, but it was mostly filled with the veggie toppings. There was only one thin layer of salami. It tasted fine, but more meat would've made it more flavorful. I wouldn't order this particular sandwich again, but might try another. We also tried their cheese dog and the beef and cheese pastelillo. Pastelillos were delicious! The cheese dog was really interesting. The chicken (pollo) empanadas were a bit bland in taste surprisingly. I was expecting a little kick. Yet, still quite nice. Their are beef, pork and cheese filled empanadas too. Empanadas around $2 -$3 each. Since I was there early in the day around 9 am, I didn't see some hot meals they make - like baked chicken and stews. This place has legit Puerto Rican delights! Pork, chicken dishes, rices, pastelillos, flan, other desserts... the fried pork was fried hard on the outside and tender inside. Very well seasoned... really, everything was delicious! I didn't eat the rice even though it's one of my very favorite things on earth, (they have yellow and red rice here) but my dining partner said it was good, but she's had better... The woman pointed over to the trash can where creamers and sugar were on top of. The coffee was burnt. And it definitely wasn't any type of Hispanic coffee. That was all of Folgers or Maxwell house. It was some nasty trash American coffee. And I don't drink or rock with American coffee. Epic mention... She kept rolling her eyes when she was taking my order. I should have left. Just straight walked out when she was doing it. But those empanadas were looking mighty good. And you know what... They were the bomb! I have a strong feeling the food in this joint is the bomb! But if you going to have a funky attitude with somebody new much less somebody from out of town comes to visit... Best believe I can take my money elsewhere... Overall, the bakery is an interesting operation -- there's food and sandwiches like the Cuban and Tripleta along with baked goods and cake. The turnover and tres leches cake were unfortunately a bit disappointing and I'm not sure if I'd recommend them again. The turnover had a tasty, very sweet guava filling (which was awesome), but the pastry itself didn't taste the freshest with the fresh baked taste you'd come to expect from a bakery. The tres leches was disappointing, almost as if it was made from a box of cake mix... So why the 4-stars? The authentic atmosphere, kind service and the off-chance that I just ordered the wrong things. I'll be back try more and hope to get it right the next time. read more

Everything I had here is delicious. One of few places in Buffalo that sell quenepas. I did not give the 5 star review only because I wish it was bigger with more dinning. Everything from their colors to their decor to their food, they're doing it right. Conveniently located on the west side and right near the entrance to the 190 and right down the street from Niagara square, no mater where you're going, la flor isn't too far away. Their fresh empanadas are my favorite. They have all different flavors like chicken, veggie, beef, pizza, and more. The outside is so crunchy and tasty and the inside is a meaty packed mouth full of flavor. My favorite is definitely beef but I do love them all. I love Puerto rican bakeries; Coming from NYC I miss the bakeries that are open early in the morning where I can get my pan de agua, pastries and my coffee. First of all, I was most certainly overcharged! ... the large literally had the same amount of food as the small. The food wasn't bad but the rice was overcooked and the peas in the rice were hard as rock. This was most upsetting as the rice is always something I look forward to when opting for a Puerto Rican dining experience. My friend decided to get an order of baked chicken and yellow rice with beans on the side. I'm a black woman, originally from Queens, and have eaten at many Hispanic eateries from horrific dives to finer dining throughout the U.S. that being said La Flor is absolutely on the top 10 on my list. I am happy to report that the state of the ceiling and cleanliness of the shop were up to A standards. The customer service was friendly and direct. I have not dated any Hispanic women in the past, but if I received any attitude there, it was about as "spicy" as Taco Bell's mild sauce. So far, I have only tried their pastries (a donut and mallorca con queso), which were extremely good and more than fairly priced ($3.00 total) and I added a photo to demonstrate the portion -- you won't get that at Tim Hos. I was dying to try this place. I got two spiraled pastries with powdered sugar and two coffees. Clearly the pastries were not fresh. They had a hard texture and tasted like 3 day old stale bread...the powdered sugar looked wet. Although edible, they were a complete waste of calories. Neither my wife nor I wanted to eat them...so we both threw them away after just one "heart-broken" bite. The coffee was ok but tasted like it had chicory on it, which my wife does not prefer. I drank most of mine but my wife threw hers away immediately...also this wasn't cheap...price was over $9.00. So sad. So I think the buyer should beware that baked goods here are not always fresh and perhaps that extends to their food as well. I also think I was over charged. read more

Service is very slow, the food served is very skimpy. If ordering the waiting time could be a little bit longer than usual.

Their food was nice and I went there sometimes when I used to live nearby. So I was excited to go there after a while. Their corn dogs cost 1.5 (I'm not sure if they mean for each piece or for a bucket which had 3 of them) and the lady told me the small box of rice and beans with pork is 7. And in total it costed more than 15... Did I get charged for not being their local or anything? I've been saying for some time that the only thing Buffalo is missing is a home style bakery that doesn't charge an incredible amount of money for cakes. I had been here before and had cake from here, but I wasn't sure if they made cakes for events or special occasions. My fiancé was turning 30 and for some reason decided he wanted a cake from here for his birthday party. I wasn't sure if they actually did that, but I gave it a shot. They have 3 different size cakes: $15, $20 and $25. I opted for the $25 size which they said would be good for 15-20 people. I ordered it in pineapple because I wasn't sure what else to get. I questioned my decision until the day I picked it up, but I figured I'd go with it and see how it turned out. The staff was super friendly. They asked what colors I wanted and any other personal touches. The cake was delicious! My fiancé was very pleased. Everyone at the party enjoyed it. I know because I made sure to ask. It really was so good. Not too sweet and soft, fluffy cake with a perfect pineapple filling in the middle.
