Your not just doing these awesome adventures - we also learned about the Puerto Rican culture, ancestry history, and they gave great restaurant recommendations. We rented a car but some other people on our tour group were picked up by Verdeazul for the adventures. Adrian even helped us get connected to a vet when we found a sato (Puerto Rican slang for a street mutt)! We have the most memorable memories from this trip thanks to the guys at Verdeazul! We strongly suggest booking something through them and would recommend it to all our friends and family. We decided to book a kayaking tour, but I wish we would have paddle boarded but kiddos didn't want. Anyway, as I mentioned the owner was awesome when we arrived. Brian our guide on the tour was super laidback. Was trying to find things to point out during our tour and wasn't invasive at all. Allowed us space to enjoy the beautiful scenery as a family. We stopped for a bit at a swing and the kids had a blast. Some dude told confronted Brian about some permit, which brian told me later they of course had, but Brian played it cool and let the man say his piece and he went on his way. I grew up around horses, but it was my husband's very first time riding. We both had an absolute blast. The ranch was easy to find, parking was simple, and the staff was incredibly friendly from the moment we arrived. The process starts with signing a waiver, getting weighed, and being matched with the horse that's best suited for you. It takes a few minutes, but for good reason. they really take the time to make sure everyone is paired safely, so be patient. It's absolutely worth it. Once you're in the saddle, the ride takes you through all kinds of terrain paved roads, beautiful forest trails, and even the beach. There are a few narrow, winding paths that make the ride feel adventurous while still feeling completely safe. We even got to spend some time trotting, which was such a fun experience, especially for a first-time rider. My husband was thrilled to pick up the pace, and our guide made him feel comfortable and confident the entire time. A huge thank you to Carolina, our guide. She was absolutely stellar. She is friendly, kind, patient, and so easy to talk to. She kept conversation going throughout the ride and made an already amazing experience even better. My friends and I had every intention of purchasing tickets online in advance but it slipped our minds. By the time we decided on going, and with the slight traffic that there was, we would make it there with only a couple minutes to spare. We tried purchasing our tickets online, but the website told us to call (most likely since we were so close to the time slot). When we called, they answered immediately. They were understanding of our situation and informed us that if we could make it there before 3:30, they could try to settle us into the slot. We sped there and made it at 3:15. They have a grass area for parking. One of the staff members helped us with filling out some forms, weighing us, and explaining some of the basic information. We used the bathroom before proceeding. Next, we were given horses based on height, weight, and experience. It was nice to see all the planning that goes behind the distribution of horses. They are really considerate towards the horses and make sure that the person and animal are a good fit. There were about 4 young people helping everyone onto the horses. I was originally given Godiva - like the chocolate - but later switched to Tonka - like the truck. We were split into two groups, mine led by Kiara. The experience truly does take the full 2 hours. It starts by going through a complex of very nice houses, then goes into a more woodsy environment, and then the beach. The beach was breathtaking. Our group stopped on the beach and Kiara offered to take group and solo pictures, and also made sure we were still comfortable on the horses and offered help if not. Sometimes, we'd get the horses to go fast on straight aways, and that brought me a lot of laughter and joy. My horse was a bit stubborn and did stop to eat multiple times. I was embarrassed that I could not control my horse, but the leaders were kind about it. The experience with taxes included was about $95 per person which I thought was fair and cheaper than some other ones around. I would highly recommend.

If you saw the Anthony Bourdain No Reservations, PR episode you know the story about the man who…read morelost his cow through an ocean blowhole at Isabela. Having followed Anthony to the Tiki Bar in Hawaii, and other places, and having preceded him to Popotla Beach in Baja, and other places, we were determined to find the Isabela blowhole. In typical fashion, Mr. Bourdain was a little cryptic about his locations, and that didn't help. We searched and searched and searched and finally found the blowhole. A sign would come in handy, but noooooooooo. The Isabela Blowhole is located in a rocky and sandy shoreline area called Baño La Princesa, which is just north of Jobos Beach. You park at the bottom by the beach restaurants and you walk up the hill - and there it is. But it wasn't blowin'. Blowholes can be that way. To work their best magic, they need a high tide, a decent swell and strong winds. Oh yes, and a hole or two in the rock. Hawaii does good blowholes with that lava rock. The blowholes I currently remember seeing are: Spouting Horn, west of Poipu, Kauai; Halona Blow Hole, south end of Sandy Beach, Oahu; Nakalele Blow Hole, West Maui; La Bufadora, north of Ensanada, Baja MX, and; the Kiama Blowhole south of Sydney, Australia (up to 60 meters high). Maybe I'm a blowhole groupie. It's beginning to sound that way. Sorry my pictures suck on this one. Blurry and all. When it 'aint blowin', what do you really take a picture of anyway? This non-performing hole is lucky to get three stars. But I have been kinda hard on PR the Welfare Island, so it gets a break on this one.

Definitely wear water shoes, (or tennis shoes you don't mind getting wet.) The rocks are super slippery, but totally worth the views and the swim under the falls. If you park in the falls parking lot, you will have a super steep set of stairs to get down/ back up. There are a few overlooks that you can see the falls without walking all the way down. The drive to the falls is as much of an adventure as the falls themselves- super windy and narrow roads- but a beautiful area!

The waves are definitely aggressive and I wouldn't risk going further out than about 30 feet because the sand quickly changes to bedrock and you would risk getting extremely injured if swept under by a wave.

As of August 2025, this hike is OVERGROWN and not clearly marked, imho. The info board says that it takes 30-min but it took us 45-min one-way. - You need to have closed toe shoes and sufficient water. I think one thing is about managing your expectations which may not be fully shown disclosed in certain tik tok videos: - The view is descent, but the waves are aggressive. - The beach is not crowded since it is a bit off the beaten path - BUT does it really worth packing two types of shoes (sportswear and beachwear), 90-min hiking in the jungle, and risks of washing away by aggressive waves. Overall, I'd NOT recommend this beach to my friends unless he/she is adventurous and physically fit.
