Out on the ocean and into the fresh air and sunshine

Lovely two-hours on the water thanks to Rincón Paddleboard & Kayaking Kayaking the 2-hour Saturday morning guided tour was just what us northern ladies needed. Start to finish the whole experience was absolutely delightful. Before we came, the booking process was so easy to do online. Day before a reminder came via email Day of arrived 15-minutes early and the whole staff was ready for us They thought of everything from offering water shirts and having water bottles on the water and taking photos so we could enjoy ourselves Two-hours was phenomenal and seriously so peaceful that I could have dropped an anchor and stayed on the water for hours I have done lake kayaking but never ocean and my friend never has done any, and we both felt safe and confident with our guide, but ourselves as well Truly a great way to spend the morning on the ocean that it's such a different view and appreciation of the island I am glad I did on day 3 of my trip so now I feel confident and comfortable to do again before this trip is over

My girlfriend and I took our first trip to Rincon and booked a kayak and snorkel tour. Damiano was our guide and to say it was perfect is an understatement. It was AMAZING!!! We had the best time. We felt safe and learned a lot as one of us was a first time snorkeler. We saw sea turtles and various fish. Was an unreal experience and highly recommend. book for the 9am so you don't worry about afternoon rain!

Awesome experience and so much fun. It's a safe for beginners as I am one myself. The staff was so helpful and accommodating that we not only tipped the instructor but we bought multiple pieces of clothing that are great quality and look great. VERY PROFFESSIONAL. I would go out on a limb and say most professional activity and equipment rental In P.R. this far. Highly recommended only 20 bucks!!!!!!!

We went to Rincon Paddle Boards, its the 2nd tent on the beach and we LOVED it. I had paddle boarded before on a lake but was given no instruction so i was super happy for the patient lesson on how to stand up on the board before we actually hit the water. My friend was not super comfortable on the water and being on a paddle board was pushing outside of her comfort zone. But Chicako and Damiano the husband and wife team that run Rincon Paddle Boards were fantastic. They made sure we were both comfortable and then watched us even when we were out on the water to make sure everything was cool. From being super nervous we were pros by the end and even did some yoga poses on the paddleboard! We also decided to snorkel and check out all the schools of fishes that were right there close to the shore. Totally famished from being on the water we asked Chicako where we could get some food, She recommended the beach bar/restaurant and the mofongo was great. We also treated ourselves to a cocktail and then decided to rent a "noodle" from Ricon Paddle Boards and float in the ocean while sipping our cocktail. One of the best days spent in Puerto Rico! Definitely recommend and can't wait to go back.

We had Adrian and Giovanni for the tours and just had a blast! They really treat you well and accommodate the tours to your style. It's like your just hanging out with some old friends. Your not just doing these awesome adventures - we also learned about the Puerto Rican culture, ancestry history, and they gave great restaurant recommendations. We rented a car but some other people on our tour group were picked up by Verdeazul for the adventures. Adrian even helped us get connected to a vet when we found a sato (Puerto Rican slang for a street mutt)! We have the most memorable memories from this trip thanks to the guys at Verdeazul! We strongly suggest booking something through them and would recommend it to all our friends and family. They take all the photos for you and email them to you so you don't have to worry about trying to capture the moment and enjoy it at the same time. Not to be missed!

We stopped for a bit at a swing and the kids had a blast. Some dude told confronted Brian about some permit, which brian told me later they of course had, but Brian played it cool and let the man say his piece and he went on his way. We got up, surfed all morning and then in the afternoon and evenings there were plenty of activities planned for us. We had a hula hoop class, fire dancing class, aerial yoga, a yoga hike, and much more. Renee is not your conventional trip/tour leader but that's what makes the trip so great (having gone in with no expectations). No one can plan for what the ocean will be like so if surfing is a part of your retreat, keep this in mind. The surf instructors (we had Ben and Christy) Renee hires are extremely concerned with safety first. At no point did I feel unsafe and I knew that the instructors had their eye on me no matter what. This made the experience even better and I felt that I truly was able to learn how to deal with the ocean. My body and mind was pushed very far but at the end of the day that's what made this such a great trip. I came home feeling so relaxed and refreshed. It also helped that there are limited outlets and you should not be concerned with your phone at any point on this trip. Really, you don't need it! Surfing in the morning, all you needed to bring was yourself. And any down time you have, you want to either nap or hydrate! Rincon is a great cute town and the beach and a few bars are about a 10-15 minute walk from where you'll stay. Can't wait to book my next retreat.

At first I felt bad leaving a negative review, since I'm almost always leaving good reviews and focusing on the positive, but I felt it necessary to share my experience so others would be forewarned. I stayed at Samatahiti 2 years ago for a yoga/foodie retreat. The accommodations are not as explained. A "proper bed" is a cot in a hut. The hut walls have large gaps (6+ inches) around the bottom for anything to walk in and no doors to the huts. They are hot, moldy and humid. I didn't know where to store my clothes to keep them from being wet or in the tight walk ways between the cots. The space is cramped for 3 people to share. They was no glam in what she calls glamping. I have done tent camping with my family and my tents are nicer than these huts. The photos you see online are a not a true representation on what her backyard (that is where you are staying) really looks like. Renee didn't provide anything as far as coffee or even a continental breakfast. You have to walk to a shop about 3/4 mile away to get something to eat. Its not like you could keep food in your hut. Our planned activities were "flexible" as to when they would occur. It really depended on what craziness was going on in her life. Aka, did she have last minute plans with her boyfriend or a new date. I get it, she is much more of a free spirit than I am, but I expect a certain level of professionalism when I am paying for a retreat. There were a few positives: the outdoor showers were nice, Renee is good at yoga alignment and teaching yoga, plus I made a couple of friends that I have remained in touch with. We still message each other on FB occasionally, especially when we get an email suggesting we do another yoga retreat at Samatahiti. They are in agreement with me, none of us would ever go back.

Launching from La Guancha, the dock was easy to get to and there was plenty of parking. For $28 roundtrip (as of 12/16), it was a value excursion! On this uninhabited island, there are no stores or vendors. Bring your own food, drinks, and beach comfort items. The ferry does sell drinks, some alcoholic beverages, snacks, and food (hot dogs and kebabs). You have to preorder the food in the morning and they'll cook it up fresh while you go play on the island, serving lunch at noon. For $60, you get roundtrip transportation and twelve meal and drink tickets (two tickets for food items, one ticket for snacks and drinks, including beer). The prices onboard are actually quite reasonable, so the meal tickets really aren't that much of a deal, in my opinion. You can also rent beach chairs and snorkeling gear from Island Ventures at very affordable prices. On this gorgeous island, we wanted to do it all! We wanted to hike to the lighthouse, explore the caves, play at the beach...everything! But we somehow couldn't get away from the water. We played at the beach, snorkeled, and then beached again. Snorkeling gear was only ten bucks to rent (as of 12/16), but because I can't swim and needed a life vest, I paid another two bucks for the whole shebang. While we were close to coral along the shore, it wasn't the best snorkeling environment. Not a lot of wildlife around all those human types that lined the shores. There were many fish under the dock, so we carefully explored that area. The water is a brilliant turquoise, but not very clear (it wasn't dirty, it just wasn't crystal clear), so it was often times difficult to see, even from a short distance away. Ferry leaves La Guancha at 8:30 AM on the dot, so get there early to check in and grab a seat. The forty-five minute ride each way is pretty smooth. Ferry leaves the island at 3:30 PM. Caveats: --The company holds weird hours and are hard to get a hold of, especially if you don't speak Spanish. --Their online booking system can be glitchy, my friend's reservation got mixed up for the wrong day. --Spots book up fast, book early! --They charge a fee for coolers (although we had soft/bag style coolers and were not charged). --We shared the boat with a school trip...so yea, there's that. ISLAND --AWESOME. --Walk up (down? into?) the cave. --Walk up to the lighthouse for some AMAZING views (30 minutes, bring water, we did it in flip flops but prob shouldn't have). --Love life on the beach. Watch out for jellyfish though! --Snorkel! (Not the best I've seen, but still cool). --Admire cacti and wildlife (hermit crabs and lizards everywhere!) During some seasons there are apparently sea turtles nesting! --Pack a picnic and enjoy it on the picnic tables! They also have compost "bathrooms." They smell and don't have soap, but there's TP! --Avoid the small beach to the left of the dock (if you're facing the island)-loaded with bugs! --Perfect day trip and one of my favorite activities from our Puerto Rico trip! ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND. Must go!

For belongings, they give you two options: you can pay $5 for a locker with a key, or you can leave your things in the storage bins out back where someone is always present. I wasn't completely comfortable with the bins, but the staff reassured me that nothing had ever happened to guests' belongings. I decided to take the chance, left my bag there with cash inside, and thankfully, everything was safe and untouched when we returned. Our instructor was Kyler and he was amazing. He was patient, informative, and honestly did most of the work steering our kayak since my daughter kept getting frustrated and turning us in the wrong direction. Kyler shared a lot of history about the Condado Lagoon, pointing out landmarks, statues, and explaining the local marine life--what's there, what isn't, and why motorboats aren't allowed. The way back was more challenging because of the wind, so this time it was up to us to paddle. I ended up doing most of it (patting myself on the back here), and by the time we finished, I was completely soaked from the back--no idea how that happened, but it was all part of the adventure. We wrapped up after about an hour, grabbed our belongings, and everything was still there. Overall, it was such a fun and memorable experience for both my daughter and I.
