Brenda assisted my mother one on one so that she could experience snorkeling again. It had been 30 years since she was in the water! Brenda was wonderful with my mom. She had a wonderful time. Adam assisted the rest of us out in the water. We were a mixed group of 6 with teens and adults. The water was perfect and calm and we saw the reef at its best. Adam showed us the best spots and we saw sea turtles ,an eel, a school of squid, thousands of fish. It was an amazing day. Thank you so much!!

They close at 2pm and will not check their emails until the next day. I was told this over the phone by their staff. They said they will try to update the site to say this (who knows how long that will take). I made a reservation the day prior at 6pm for a morning dive at 8:30am. I have made many evening reservations before at other dive centers, and I have never had a problem. I received a confirmation email with instructions to show up at 8am for the dive. Unfortunately, no one showed up. I waited until 9:30am and did not see a soul. I ultimately received an apologetic phone call at 10:30am where the employee subsequently informed me of the 2pm rule. I am sure this dive center gives amazing dives. However, it is a shame that such a great dive shop has such a misleading platform that lets you reserve a dive that may not be available. I sincerely hope this review helps them add a line on their website that warns users from reserving dives after they close at 2pm.

When I approached to purchase something, she was hesitant to let me in and asked what it was that I wanted. I said specifically an anklet, and since I guess it wasn't enough, she said they were closed,, I guess next time I'll say a surf board and diving knife. Once the initial review was made she rushed into our table while we were still enjoying dinner at the harbor, within the same complex, as a family, and approached us with hostility inquiring whether we had written the review. We explained that we two own a business and that's not how you're supposed to run things. She sat there and got loud and argued with us embarrassingly at the bar asking us to change our yelp review. I removed my three small children because it was getting uncomfortable to go get icecream at the corner cream shop that's located next to her store. She stormed off only to say fuck you to us in front of my children. If you ask me this business is run by an unprofessional hippie. If it was a local Puerto Rican, we would have never been denied in the first place before all the drama. These people don't belong on this island.

My husband and I had a wonderful experience today doing a 2 tank shark + reef dive. The staff…read moreseemed very experienced and I felt safe the whole time. Everyone was very capable and nice. They pointed out many wonderful things apart from the many beautiful sharks, like a large sea turtle, baracutas, lobsters, huge crabs, eels, and we saw huge schools of fish and coral. Great visibility today. They also sent us a lovely video of the dive afterward! The only challenging part for me is that both my husband and I apparently get really sick on small fishing boats so I recommend being prepared and taking Dramamine (or alternative) long enough before your dive, even if you haven't been seasick in 10 years (me), and are on the fence as to whether or not to prepare in this way. Take the Dramamine. We will be more prepared next time. We are looking forward to booking with Island Scuba again. Very wonderful once-in-a -lifetime experience. I hope this review helps you prepare and that you choose to have this wonderful experience for yourself.

I heard about this beach from the local owners of a cute rockaway beach/long beach style boutique…read moreshop in town. We took their advice after asking about nearby snorkeling locations and were blown away. The flat rocks and reef right off the coast attract all sort of different sea life and as result, this quickly became over favorite snorkeling spot we found on our trip. It really feels as clear as it can get. The feeling of watching hundreds of beautiful and blue fish glide beneath you while you're effortlessly floating along the warm saltwater is like no other. This beach is extremely chill and low key. Parking is super simple as people just park where they can along the side of the very long dirt road that leads down to the beach. You're basically behind the backyards of a long row of houses that line the beach so everyone is mindful of the neighbors. As with many of the beaches in Puerto Pico, the jetty corners of the beach curiously invite you to take a peak around them. One fella set up an entire hammock within a large tree and even started a small campfire. No one seemed to mind, again it was all very chill. The beach gets its name from this set particular of steps (stairs?) that jet out from the water. It must have been from a previous dock or structure that was originally there and it makes for a really and unique cool setting. There is also a swing set that is a popular photo spot on social media but I could not manage to get up up on it (seems like it's easier to do during low-tide). We did however to capture some pretty fun photos of different angles all around the beach. So if you find yourself on the west side of the island and want to experience some phenomenal snorkeling, you've got to find this spot!
