Me and my Husband had an amaaaazing time! It was so fun, our Tour guide made us feel very welcomed and very safe with our journey! The water was a bit murky but that was only because it was the rainy season when we attended, but even so you could still see so much! Diving down into the water took a bit of effort but it was sooo worth it to see all of the wonderful fish, corals, sponges, and anemones! We got to safely and gently touch some things with great respect for our coral life and it was fantastic and exiting! We even got to hold a starfish!! Id say to attempt to come during the colder seasons, and when its not so rainy, the water will be much more clear but over all we saw and learned so much! My partner and I did a snorkeling session with Dave, and it was the best time! Dave had so much knowledge about both the marine life and Rincon. Awful experience from start to finish. We waited for hours while the instructor took forever to get ready, and when we finally went out, the water conditions were terrible--completely unsafe for diving. They clearly didn't care about safety, just about getting paid. No training or preparation was provided for new divers, making it feel reckless and unprofessional. I booked a total of two dives for 4 people, totaling over $1000 ($449.78 and $592.00). I paid for all dives on Tuesday prior to leaving for Puerto Rico. I was told at time of booking & paying for dives that I would receive a link to sign the waiver. I also requested an email confirmation of my payment, which I never received. We scheduled a night dive on Friday night and a two tank dive for Saturday morning. We arrived in San Juan with a large storm over the island on Friday morning. I called Great Escape Scuba and spoke with Robert telling me that it was fine on that side of the island and the dive was still on. I told him I still not receiving waiver or my receipt. He sent me the waiver to sign by text message at 1100am with our dive being at 6pm. We arrived to our condo which as it turned out to be yards from the walk in shore dive entry. We were in contact with Chandler for our night dive, I asked about if dive was still on he said yes but the winds were picking up. When we arrived the waves were intense and it was decided for safety reasons we would not be diving that night. The locals that were there at the entry point were explaining to us that all the dive shops knew this storm was coming in and that it was dangerous to go out. Also, what needs to be mentioned is the fact that there are large rocks at the entry point. The waves were forceful and rapid. The next morning we were to go out with Hayden, his text to us was that it "will be a little sporty out there". When asked what that meant, he texted some roller waves and the viz might not have gotten much better with the winds we had the last few days. He had Robert come to meet us to discuss the morning dive. We even looked at another entry point, again the waves were intense. We discussed our experience or lack of, with walk ins and it was decided that the dive would be scrubbed due to safety. Hayden wrote, "your safety is always number 1 in my book. that's why I called Robert out there for a 2nd opinion. I agree tho we made the right call. Robert assured me that we would have all our monies refunded to us due to weather. The waiver that we signed said that if we cancelled with less than 48 hours we would lose our refund with the exception of weather. They, Robert and Hayden gave us some ideas of sight seeing instead of the dive, which we were appreciative and we gave them $100 cash tip as a sign of good gesture. I never received my refund. I have texted with replies of "it was processed, but I'll double check (11/2) and (11/7) "Robert was away at family emergency for past week and he'll be back on Friday". I sent information to whoever was at the receiving end of text message as requested and never heard back. As of this date, 1/1/24, we have not heard from Great Escape Puerto Rico or been refunded our monies. I, as well as the rest of our party, was very disappointed in this outcome. I expect a person's word and a hand shake to mean something. read more

Very poor customer service. They try to bill you a week later for their equipment someone else broke from another group. Make sure they don't have your credit card numbers as they use it to cover old equipment. They keep saying a man broke a mask. We only had 2 small boys in group . They refuse to listen to reason. Absolutely Horrifying Experience - Avoid at All Costs I have been a certified diver for years and have worked in scuba diving insurance for over 4 years, and what I experienced at Great Escapes was a nightmare that made me lose faith in humanity. This is by far the most negligent, unsafe, and unprofessional dive operation I have ever encountered. If you value your safety and that of your loved ones, do NOT trust this business with your time or your money. I visit Puerto Rico annually as my grandmother was born here, and this year, I wanted to share that experience with my girlfriend and 4 of our friends. I booked a Discover Scuba Diving (DSD) course for 7:30 AM, hoping for an incredible introduction to the sport I love. Instead, what we received was a disaster from start to finish. The instructor, Chandler, arrived an hour late without any sense of urgency or apology. From there, it only got worse. He rushed through the pre-dive instructions, skipping crucial safety protocols. Out of the six vital skills that must be taught for a Discover Scuba Diving session, he barely mentioned three. This is a violation of safety standards that could seriously endanger people's lives. When we finally made it to the water, two hours after arriving, I noticed my air tank was leaking, and one of my friends was taking in water through her regulator. Both issues were brushed off by Chandler, who assured us "it'll be fine." It was NOT fine. To make matters worse, we later found out that they had sent us to the wrong location--a snorkeling spot--where the current was dangerously strong and completely unsafe for scuba diving. The instructors forgot basic safety equipment, including the safety flag, and the strong current quickly separated our group. This was beyond unacceptable--it was reckless. Three of my friends were so terrified that they returned to shore, feeling utterly abandoned by the instructors. When we finally went underwater, Chandler was completely inattentive, only sticking with one person while the rest of us were left fending for ourselves. I found one of my friends completely alone. This is exactly how accidents and fatalities happen. This level of negligence is the reason why dive shops have astronomical insurance rates, and why people think diving is dangerous. Because of careless, irresponsible operations like this one. As if that wasn't bad enough, Chandler talked about wanting to spear fish during our session--a complete lack of focus and professionalism. The visibility underwater was awful, and we barely saw any marine life, maybe 3 fish in total. It felt like a total scam. After the ordeal, I contacted the owners, Dave and Robert, hoping to address the situation and at least give them the chance to make things right. Instead of listening, they became defensive, hostile, and dismissive. They accused us of lying and demanded that we provide proof of our experience. They even went so far as to threaten to charge my card further. This is not how a business should handle a customer's legitimate safety concerns--it was downright appalling. Here's where it gets even worse--when my mother overheard how they spoke to me and wrote an honest review based on what happened, they retaliated by looking her up online and leaving an inappropriate, defamatory review on her small business page, trying to damage her reputation. This was a direct attack on her livelihood--completely uncalled for and disgusting behavior. It was an attempt at intimidation and defamation, purely because we stood up for ourselves. This company is a disaster waiting to happen. The aggression, unprofessionalism, and complete lack of regard for safety and customer experience was beyond anything I've ever encountered in my life. Do not go to Great Escapes if you value your safety or your sanity. Stay far away from this place. They put profits over people's lives, and that is unforgivable. read more

They are liars and thieves. Be forewarned. We booked a snorkel trip in December 2022. They cancelled it because of weather and promised a refund in accordance with their written policy. For over a month, I tried to get that refund. They communicated all kinds of excuses like "couldn't find your reservation" even thought it was at the top of the text stream, or "CC processing company made a mistake and as soon as they correct that mistake I can refund what is due you". Finally asked my credit card company to reverse the charge. I thought this was done. They then lied and told the credit card company that services were provided, despite their text communications with me promising a refund. They provided the CC company with copies of our digitally completed waiver forms, claiming that we completed those at the office on the day of the tour; another lie. We were out of the country for a while, and by the time I noticed that the credit card company had reinstated the charge the dispute period had ended. So even though I had written proof that the tour was cancelled by them and that they had promised a refund, their lies allowed them to keep my money. So I contacted Great Escape again. The thief then had the nerve to complain to me claiming that I cost him money and time by disputing the charge with the credit card company. After that, no further responses from him. It is clear to me that they take your money but never intend to return it if the tour is cancelled because of weather. I am looking for other legal avenues to pursue against this thief. Don't let them fool you. If you look at other reviews you will see that this is a pattern with them. They make up excuses and blame others. read more

First off, Rosa's review is inaccurate as pointed out by the business owner. But on to a REAL review- this was my first dive experience and it was GREAT! I cannot wait to do it again! Rob was EXCELLENT at providing safety first and foremost, and dive master Diego was there for safety back up, too! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND GREAT ESCAPES PR!! I've been a beach girl all my life, but being afloat with the waves is one thing, diving is so different, and your first time under the water with all the equipment on is a little disorienting because you're still very close to the shore and the water isn't as clear, all you see around you is blue. You don't see the surface or the floor at that point, and it caused me some panic right off the bat. Rob was so patient with me and coached me through it. Once I was under for a minute, I was good. And once we got to wear we could actually see it was effortless. Rob even said the training part is worse than the actual dive. He was right. Once you're diving, you're not thinking about breathing and all that, you're just doing it naturally. Instead you're focused on all the sea life around you. Be careful not to touch anything, even accidentally like I did because a lot of it stings. *WARNING* this tour operator literally just robbed me for my money. I made a reservation through a third-party booking agency to dive with them for a 1-tank shore dive. The tour operator never showed up for the tour. When I called them, they informed me that since they did not hear from me before the scheduled activity time (huh?), they cancelled the booking -- and were keeping my money. (1) I show up on time to the dive site, (2) they do not show up, (3) they keep my money. Be careful. read more

My kids and I did their introduction to scuba lesson. The instructor, Karla, could not have been better. So patient with my children; friendly, professional and did an amazing job when my 12 year old got a bit scared. I assumed we would just be learning some basic skills. But we spent almost an hour underwater and explored a beautiful reef. Highly recommend this to people who have never been diving. read more

We scheduled a snorkel ahead of time and the day of they called and told us that it was too cloudy to go snorkeling which wasn't the problem. We asked for our refund it took us a whole month to get it back, They were very hard to get back in contact with and it wasn't even a full refund! read more

NOPE. We came around 2pm, the waves were rough but they said we could go out. We rented 3 sets of snorkels and were told to go north up the beach a bit for the best snorkeling. After going up the beach we realized the entire thing has a 15 foot rock reef just after the sand beach, which can get quite sharp at some points. The northern part of the beach had very rough waves so we decided no matter how pretty it was, it wasn't worth it. We went down the beach about half a mile and thought we were safe. NOPE. My sister went out to test the waters, looked down and didn't see much at all. On her way in she found that there were little sea urchins in the rocks, not like just a few, but I'm ever fold and nook. She ended up with spines in her feet, hip, and hands. Maybe go if you're feeling brave and there aren't any waves. read more

Me and my friends were on a trip to rincon and booked them for all 11 of us for a guided snorkel tour. When they cancelled because the water wasn't clear from the rain the day before, we were told we would be fully reimbursed. They said it would take 7-10 days and it took way longer and many phone calls begging for our money back. We just got the money today and it still isn't the full amount they took out the taxes and fees from us. Its now july 7th and we got back June 13th. read more
