    Ham & Cheese Croquettes
    Melissa S.

We walked into this restaurant on a Thursday evening and were able to be seated quickly. We ordered the GUAVA BBQ BEEF SHORT RIB, HAM AND CHEESE CROQUETAS, COCONUT SHRIMP to share and I ordered a Guava Sangria (restaurant) and Smores cocktail (back room speakeasy). All of the food was good but we were so glad that we decided to share because the beef short rib and croquetas were heavy. The guava sangria was the best I've ever had (kudos to whoever made it). The entire restaurant was absolutely adorable and I thought very well decorated. After dinner we went to the back speakeasy and ordered another drink. The back room was a vibe and I loved it so much. The drink I ordered here was the Smores one. It was just okay to me but my husband loved his cocktail that he ordered (if I could remember the exact name I would put it here) it was served with a chocolate cigar and I thought was a different take on an old fashion.

I did not expect the pork belly medianoche to be so thick! Pineapple salsa is a delicious edition. I arrived around 11 & my food was delivered after a quick run to the restroom. It was hot, as preferred. Drinks are strong & tasty. Last call was around 1125p.

Rip off meal. Service didn't check in on us. Expensive food overall. Like $80 for a sandwich and a main and two drinks. TERRRRIBLE value.

We are Karina from Miami and we're staving, nothing else in the area seemed appealing to us at 9pm so we went with what we thought we knew.. Bean soup, super yummy and typical, pulled port sandwich (not Cuban) but delicious, pork belly plate, super fatty but oh so satisfying with a kind of Moro style rice and beans, but the croquettes.. the Ham and cheese croquettes.. I have no clue where they have tried croquetas from but hear we're not it lol! They tasted like papa rellena (stuffed potato balls). I am croquettes feen and I do not recommend these. But it was a decent spot for a late night bite!

This was a great spot to catch up with some friends on a Monday night. They have plenty of appetizers, sandwiches & mains. We ordered the cuban burger, guava short rib, pressed cubano & conch fritters. Our favourite was the pressed cubano! The interior was very diner like which we loved. Overall great vibes & a good spot on Ossington as most places are closed in Mondays apparently. The service was good as our waitress was very friendly.

Headed to Ossington this weekend and found this delightful spot! The ambience was super fun with pastel diner vibes. The achiote roasted chicken was really good with delicious fried plantains. The coleslaw on the side was seasoned very well and wasn't overloaded with dressing which I enjoyed. The guava bbq beef short rib was the allstar! Extremely tender beef with a delicious sauce on top. A must-try for sure! The coffee with leches was okay but more on the bitter side. I wish the cup was larger, it looked closer to a 6oz. The avocado salad was extremely disappointing as it was overly vinegary and the avocado was overripe to the point of being black. Don't recommend. Overall, I enjoyed my experience but would not order the coffee or salad again.

Absolutely in love with the interior of La Cubana. It's cozy and local while both modern and retro. The space is clean and bright but has a nostalgic, classic feel. There are so many intentional details that went into the interior that makes the atmosphere so special!! And along with the space, the food is GOOD and very affordable. We came for dinner on a Saturday and sat at the bar. The service was great, so great that the food actually came out before our drinks! The achiote chicken platter was a perfectly balanced meal. The chicken was flavorful, and the star of the show was absolutely the slaw - so delicious! The mojitos we got too were strong and refreshing. They have a bar in the back too, which is a cool addition. Great Toronto spot for sure.

Sitting in a very popular street, La Cubana has a nicely tucked away speakeasy at the back of the restaurant. The front of the restaurant is nicely designed with lots of Spanish blue tiling and the menu popping out in white and red. I came by this place on Saturday around dinner time and the speakeasy was nice and quiet with a few customers enjoying their signature cocktails. The staff greeted us and guided us to the speakeasy. Inside the space there were about 5-6 tables, with a greenery garden ceiling and plants sitting in different corners of the space. The bar itself was stunning with a number of options and nicely lit to show off the display. The cocktail menu had a nice variety of signature drinks. I tried La Playa which had jalapeno infused tequila and mixed with some other liquor to make it look blue-ish green. The drink was presented very elegantly and beautifully and it tasted very nice as well. Ossington has a number of different gems but I'm a big sucker for speakeasies in the city.

Tostones 2,7/10.

We were really impressed with this Toronto spot! We got there right around lunch rush on a Saturday, so we did have to wait a bit to get a table, but it wasn't bad. Once seated, our server gave us drink & food menus. I ordered the margarita and a few people ordered the beer. For food I ordered their burger and it was delish! The interior has a great vibe with fun diner decor and a beautiful bar top area.

We went to five star restaurants, sandwich shops, and everything in between on our Toronto trip, but this had to be my absolute favorite meal!! It was absolutely adorable and the food was amazing! I got the chicken and it was perfectly moist and oh so perfectly seasoned! I didn't know just how much I was missing out not eating Cuban food with cabbage, but now that I've done it I'm never going back!

The guava BBQ beef short rib sandwich has been hyped up to me for years now and I finally got to try it - it did not disappoint. The beef was tender and flavourful, the sandwich running with juices, and that guava BBQ sauce hitting all the right notes. The drinks were great too, the mojito was simple and classic and La Havana was super flavourful with their apricot brandy. Overall a cute spot with a real Cuban retro feeling interior, and I can't wait to come back!

At night on a rainy Friday we had to wait around 30 min for a table for 6 without a reservation. It's a super small space with a restaurant area up front and bar in the back. I wouldn't recommend coming with a big group. We tried the short ribs, pork shoulder and pork belly main dishes. All were good but I liked the pork over the short ribs. 1 is definitely enough per person. We also got their donuts for dessert but I didn't find them good - tasted like an old fashioned timbit.

All cocktails are half priced and we had 5 different cocktails and loved them all. Here's the cocktails I had, in order of most favorite to still favorite: 1) Mango habanero margarita: it's described as being sweet and tangy but definitely has a bit of a kick to it and varies drink to drink depending on how much of their homemade mango habanero hot sauce they add to it. But it's always delicious! 2) Pandaiquiri: it's a clarified cocktail with hints of coconut and pandan. They also have quite a generous pour for this one. I'm not complaining! 3) Carajillo affogato: I would save this one till the end. It's the perfect dessert cocktail to end your night at Bar Habana. It's served with a scoop of boozy ice cream and a spiced rum-espresso combo to pour over. I could drink the drink without the ice cream too, but mix the ice cream into the drink and it's sure to satisfy your sweet tooth. 4) Piña colada: pretty solid piña colada and only at #4 cause it wasn't unique to this bar. 5) Reverse mojito: described as light and refreshing but we found this to be a little sweeter than we'd have liked. I would prefer a regular mojito to this, but glad we tried it For food we got the conch fritters, grilled shrimp, honey glazed pork belly, and guava bbq short ribs. The short ribs were amazing and so tender. The portions are pretty good for the price and quite filling. Those 4 dishes were like a meal. The pork belly was good too but I would've liked a bit more pineapple salsa with it. The conch fritters are good for the price but you don't really get much conch in it. If you do get it though, ask for the mango habanero hot sauce to dip instead of the chipotle mayo. And lastly, the grilled shrimp was cooked well and a decent portion. I would definitely go back again, happy hour or not.

This is such a restaurant. But for the greater good, and because it totally deserves to be hyped up, I'm gonna share this gem with you! Granted, I have only been here once and I had never had Nicaraguan food before but everything this restaurant served up from drinks to appetizers to mains to dessert was unbelievable. It may look like nothing special on paper and even look understated on the plate but once it's in your mouth your tastebuds are in for a ride! Let me explain a bit more...the "tacos" look like a sundae collided with a salad on the plate but when you break it up and try it the crunch and the sweet and the sour just works like magic! I ordered the Churrasco but swapped out the mashed potato with rice and beans - how the Nicaraguans eat it I was told - and boy was I glad I listened! I have never downed so much rice and beans so quickly in my life; normally I avoid them so that's testament to how tasty it was. 3 out of all 3 of the desserts were delicious but the standout favourite among my party was surprisingly the cheesecake, so don't knock it till you try it. The atmosphere is lively and colourful, and the service was great too! That's it; I think I've shared enough - you're welcome

The restaurant stayed busy throughout dinner, with a steady flow of customers coming in, and after the meal I could understand why. We started with the soup of the day, which was an oxtail soup. It tasted very fresh, rich, and comforting, with a lovely fragrance that made it especially satisfying. For the main course, we ordered the fish of the day, a whole fried sea bass, and it was absolutely delicious. The fish was crispy outside, tender inside, and full of flavor without feeling heavy. It also came with fried plantains, which were such a nice touch and made the meal feel even more special. It was our first time so we asked the staff what he recommended and homie came through! The Colombian Salchipapa is basically a fully loaded Cuban fries supreme on steroids. There was plantain, pulled pork, cilantro lime chicken, chorizo, cheese, and corn, all topped with hickory sticks. All of that paired with their house-made tartar sauce was heavenly with the best flavors and textures. The Cubano Smoked Brisket Sanguich was also incredible. There's smoked brisket, roasted mojo pork, swiss cheese, pickles, and fried onions, all stuffed in Cuban bread. The brisket and pork were super tender and juicy too. We also sat at the bar and had a few ordered of cocktails with the food. Be aware that the bar itself slopes down towards you. With that being said, my partner put her drink down on the sloped part and it fell all over both of us, with the bartender seeing it all unfold. He was nice in providing some extra napkins to dry ourselves off, but all he had to offer was "Yup that happens a lot" as opposed to maybe offering to remake the drink which was now 2/3 empty as a result. Was a little disappointed at that service in particular, especially when you're paying upwards of $18 for a small cocktail. The atmosphere was good, however. IF I were to give it another try, I'd probably just opt for drinks and skip the food, which was a little pricier for what you're getting portion-wise and quality.
