I'm not sure what surprised me more about my LA Crawfish experience: 1) The chicken wings were my favorite part or 2) The lady at the bench next to us telling her kids that one of the friends they came with is allergic to shellfish and that's why they were at the other end of the bench The menu and options at LA Crawfish was quite overwhelming for me since it was my first going to a crawfish joint like this. My husband and I got a little bit of everything to try stuff out. He got the crawfish pho and I got a half pound of cajun style crawfish and six 5-spice basil chicken wings. We also split an order of a dozen thai chili oysters. The crawfish pho had a very interesting flavor and was overall an "OK" pho. The oysters were large and juicy, but I'll prefer to get them without a topping next time. That's not to say the thai chili was bad, it was good but just not what I'm personally looking for on top of an oyster. The 5-spice basil wings had a bit of a sweet flavor to them and they were crispy and juicy. I'll definitely at least go back to get chicken wings. However, the main dish of the night was of course the crawfish. They came out in a bag loaded with the lovely cajun spices, but sadly the spices had not penetrated into the crawfish shells since they were just tossed in the sauce (I think). I usually a huge fan of Smashin Crab but I was craving some crawfish and Pho- I know- weird. We ordered takeout of 4lbs of Cajun crawfish, tendon Pho, and crawfish fried rice. The Cajun crawfish needed a little more heat and seasoning, the broth and noodles were good but not enough tendon(only meat I got). The fried rice was the star of the show! I'd go back and try some other stuff for sure- but def the fried rice. read more

This place has continuously gone downhill. I ordered the cajun fried rice which seemed to have only been seasoned with soy sauce. It was mushy and otherwise flavorless. Garlic noodles had no garlic flavor. Nothing but boiled noodles with shrimp and fried garlic on top- sounds better than it was. Actually, it seemed as if they just placed shrimp and crawfish on top of plain noodles and fried, dehydrated garlic on top. The cajun shrimp boil was good but a little too greasy. If you can avoid the thick layer of oil sitting on top you can taste the cajun seasoning which was not bad. Still it doesn't warrant another visit. I have only been to 2 crab boils in San Antonio. LA crawfish is a lot better. I like the flavor of the sauce. It's buttery and not as salty. A lot of the times, Cajun styles can be too salty for me. The seafood is overall fresh. A few of the shrimps are not but you can't expect everything to be perfect. We went here to try something different over our usual other sea food boil place in Alamoranch...but today was a fail...the shrimp was mushy, sauce was sub par (flavor wise), the sweet potato fries were good but did not make up for the mushy main course...I had only been here once before, way back when and my boyfriend has had several good experiences here but today was a total fail...not the way we would want to spend our one night eating out. I'm pretty disappoint with this place. I had high expectations based on the reviews, but I'm still trying to figure out what everyone else ate because this place was not good. The fried oysters were dry, hard, and mostly batter. I wouldn't have even guessed they were oysters. The pho broth was incredibly sweet, the noodles were clumped together in a giant ball. The pho was supposed to be the brisket; but honestly, it looks like they gave me the cheap sliced beef that goes into the regular beef pho bowl. The lemon pepper wings were decently seasoned, but they were so crisp on the outside that it was hard to bite and chew. The garlic noodles were probably the best thing, but once again the noodles were cold, hard, and you couldn't really break them apart. Maybe it's because we did carry out? I'm not sure. This is definitely a long overdue review. I visited a friend out in Texas about year ago and she took me for lunch at LA Crawfish after hiking. This was my first time trying Vietnamese and Cajun fusion and let me tell you it was delicious! My friend highly recommended the crawfish pho, so that's what I got. I like pho, but this doesn't taste like your typical pho soup. I really liked how they infused the cajun spices in the broth. It had the right amount of kick and not too spicy. They also add smoked sausage and crawfish in the soup, which made everything so tasty. The only negative for me is that they don't have any locations near where I live. All of their locations are in Texas. I wish they did because I would definitely come back! read more

The blend of flavors is amazing at thise VN-meets-Cajun-meets-Latin inspired joint! I've been here a few times and the fried oysters always taste incredibly fresh. CRAWFISH EMPANADAS are a must if you visit they are amazing. We got wings, which were too hot to eat but loaded with flavor, fried oysters, a shrimp boil, and the fried rice. I called the store and the manager apologized and had the nerve to offer me 10% off my next meal OR drive all the way back over there to get another meal at 830pm at night. Yeah, no. Cons: Boil bag of crab legs were not saucy. The sausage in the boil bag was one piece of undercooked link. It would have been nice if it were sliced into eatable pieces. You have to get your own wax paper for the table. The snow crab legs were small. Food temperature of the boil bag was not hot. There is not an option for selecting the spice level. Don't judge a book by its cover. I have driven past this place on more than a few occasions. I was pleasantly surprised at the how clean this place was. With a name like LA Crawfish I was thinking what do they know about crawfish. This place is just not about crawfish but it has an Asian flair offering oysters, poboys, pho, chicken wings, and of course crawfish. It may sound like it has a large menu but their menu is actually small. In fact, there menu even says that it is a small menu. So nice to know when a restaurant is honest and not bragging about its size. On this particular day I went in to have a little lunch consisting of raw oysters. You can get them plain but I decided to get a sampling of all their flavors. The flavors consisted of Korean style, Japanese ponzu, and Thais green chili. My favorite was the Korean as it had a sweet pepper taste. I will tell you that if you are sensitive to spice the Thai green chili is not for you. It has a kick that will leave many with watery eyes and sniffling noses. A good spot and definitely worth another stop in the near future. For those eating the crawfish there is plenty of paper to roll out on your table so you can get as messy as you want to be. Also plenty of toppings for your liking to include Old bay, melted, butter and other spices located near the paper. I don't like you have to stand in line FOREVER and it wasn't busy, yet they have "servers" that expect a tip. Either have servers, who serve, or don't. You don't need servers, just busters. LA Crawfish is a great spot for cajun boil! The portions are generous and the price is right. For two, we ordered 1 Ib of shrimp, 1 Ib of Snow Crab legs, 2 corns, 1 Ib of crawfish, 1 sausage and 2 bowls of rice. This could easily feed 3-4 people. The total bill came out to be about $40. You can't beat that! It was so good that we ate it all. We went with the garlic butter sauce which was tasty. The sauce and seasoning bar adds a nice touch to the restaurant. There's plenty of parking and space to sit so you do not have to worry about it. The customer service was excellent. Me and my boyfriend recently visited LA Crawfish for the first time. When we walked it it was basically empty, besides us. There was no Air conditioning and was so hot, poor employees. Not to mention it was very expensive, we ordered 1 lb of snowcrab, 1 lb of shrimp head on with 1 corn and 1 potato and my boyfriend got a shrimp plate. which came out to be $80. We waited around 25 minutes for our food and when it came out the shrimp looked old. i still tried to eat my food because i spent a lot of money for it to go to waste. 30 minutes after finishing eating i felt so sick and woke up the next morning with food poisoning. The awesome garlic noodles are just that Awesome!, the seafood gumbo was exactly what I needed, and if you where to be hung over or your stomach is upset I'd suggest getting that it was delicious, my youngster had the sweets & sour wings but I think they may have been a little to sweet or maybe sour, or she's picky lol she didn't dig them to much. But the crawfish and sausage was good even being latter in the season for crawfish we had the Cajun flavor but I'd suggest grabbing there spice from there condiment bar which is pretty awesomely stocked you have access to all of the sauces so you don't have ask for extras just go get it, and don't forget it's b.y.o.b. After seeing commercial after commercial about LA Crawfish we finally decided to give it a try. We ordered 4 lbs of crawfish, 1 lb of shrimp, 1 lb of snow crab, 4 corn and a link of sausage. Everything was in the garlic butter sauce which had a very mild kick. Total, we spent $100 which isn't terrible for the size of the crawfish that we got. I know it's crawfish season, but I was surprised to see the size that we got. We've tried other crawfish/seafood boil places and LA Crawfish is tied with our other favorite. One thing I liked was how open it was. We've been to one other place and it felt like we were packed like sardines! It made it really uncomfortable to squeeze in and eat when you were so close to the people next to you. They also have a self serve butter bar that you can customize your dipping butter. This place is listed as Vietnamese (which is what I was looking for), but it's not really very Vietnamese. It's also listed as Cajun, but it's not very Cajun either. It seems more to be another one of those seafood-boil places. I can't vouch for their execution of that cuisine, because I didn't sample it. I ordered the garlic noodles (having seen this dish for the first time in Orange County, CA, but had not tried it there), and a bowl of gumbo. First the gumbo. It had a smokey taste, so my first impression was good. But then, after a number of spoonfuls, it seemed overall to be lacking in flavor except for the aforementioned smoke, while trying to make up for it with heavy amounts of black pepper and hotness. Really good Cajun can be (spicy) hot, but it never lacks for complex scent and flavor. Try Paul Prudhomme's "Meat Magic" spice if you don't believe me. The other bit about the gumbo which I didn't care for was some unknown pieces of something floating around in there -- my guess is that it was crawfish parts that had disintegrated from the crustaceans' bodies. Ew. The garlic noodles did not strike me as garlicky. I thought that's what it was supposed to deliver. It did have a lot of seafood in it, however (for example) the shrimp were not nearly as sweet and tasty as the ones I had for lunch at Laguna Madre. That should tell you something. There were slices of sausage in it, and they were quite good, but slices of sausage can not be expected to carry the whole dish across the finish line. And they couldn't. The noodles were cooked fairly well, with the right texture for the most part. Seemed freshly made. But the rest of the ingredients, I'm guessing, were cooked-up ahead of time, and lost their flavor sitting around in the interim. I don't know that for a fact, but that was my impression. Service was attentive. Beer was cold. I can't say the meal was bad, just disappointing because of how much better I expected it to be, and know it could be. Thus, the 3-star rating. read more

Thai green chili was pretty good with a nice after taste!! Korean kimchee flavor was also very good!! And the last flavor Japanese ponzu I personally didn't really like, one thing that was really missing was horse radish which I didn't see they had :(( for me personally hard to eat raw oyster without radish.. Iv been to a lot of crawfish places around Texas and Louisiana and Mississippi and this place def is one of my favorite spots!! The servers were so kind and very attentive! 5 stars for just the service alone! I only gave 3 stars because I wasn't really a fan of the flavoring of the crawfish and shrimp, we got the Cajun I felt like it was a bit too salty. We also got spicy garlic wings and they were really good! Season fries were good too. The menu shows prices that were a bit less than what I was charged for each item- they should really update that. Although the crawfish weren't as juicy and flavorful as the ones I'm used to from Louisiana, they were pretty good. LA CRawfish offered 3 types of seasoning for their crawfish and shrimp. They were good-sized and well seasoned. We also had the "Awesome Garlic Noodles" and the Japanese Ponzu Oysters on the half shell. Noodles were tasty, but the shrimp were a little undercooked. I thought the oysters were not only super fresh, but yummy,too. My husband didn't care for them. Our biggest complaint was the uncleanliness of the restrooms which were wet and slippery as well. Wish I could give a better review but horrible customer service can cast shade on a business. I had a takeout order that was placed on the website. Time frame was 20-25 minutes, we arrived 30 minutes later and asked for our order. The girl working the register was very rude and snappy, "well it's not ready" as she proceeds to grab my ticket and give it to the cooks. The whole time she's joking around with the other workers and not tending to the waiting customers. We had to wait almost an hour before the order was ready. When I got my order I asked for hot butter, very rudely her reply was "you have to wait at the end of the line for hot butter". I asked at least give me that for the inconvenience, she again with attitude "no, you have to get in line and pay for it". We just left and didn't want to deal with the poor service anymore. The food didn't taste fresh at all, I've never experienced this with LA Crawfish. I'm completely unsatisfied and disappointed with LA Crawfish. This was on Friday March 29, 2024 @ 2100hrs. read more
