Excellent coffee shop- my only complaint is I wish there was more locations in the city! The most friendly and upbeat staff, their iced coffee is excellent. Not a ton of space if looking to work from home or spend time people watching, I've only been able to take it to go as most spots are already taken. I drove by this spot on a late night Uber ride and knew that I needed to stop by the next day. I had only ever heard of/had Colombo coffee in the cans that you can find in grocery stores. To see a brick and mortar store in Chicago, I knew I needed to try it. This spot was super trendy which is a little overwhelming, but we also were able to order exactly what we wanted like we would anywhere else. I went with a Latte and my boyfriend went with a mocha (the benefits of having different coffee tastes? Getting to try both!) and they were both AMAZING. I wasn't surprised since I love their products I've had elsewhere, but I was stoked that their in person products were just as delicious. On top of that, the store was quite small, but our coffees came out almost immediately so we were able to get in and out of their really quickly. Definitely worth for the price! read more

OK, so I favor indy coffee shops with locally roasted beans. However, in a bit of a time crunch, and this place was just a short walk from my hotel, so having had good experiences at La Colombe in DC, I figured I couldn't go wrong here. That was a good call on my part! Great location, really nice space inside - not crowded, easy to get a seat, and inviting staff the moment I set foot inside. Grabbed a Greek yogurt - that is all they have for low-carb options, but the pastries sure looked good. Nice interaction and gentle suggestions from the front, and I ordered an Ethiopian pour over as well as an Americano to go. The coffee team quickly sprung into action. One barista tended to my pour over and the other made the espresso. The latter was kindly put into my thermos (thanks for rinsing it out to preheat it) to go. Other customers flowed through and service kept up nicely. My coffee in hand, I left glad for the good service experience. Pour over was on par with most I've had, nice complexity and smoothness. It was very good. The Americano was fine, nothing outstanding but solid (to be fair, it was half caf, and in my experience for some reason many shops struggle with making good decaf; but again, this was pretty on-point even with the decaf). Skip the big box coffee place nearby and head to La Colombe. You'll find knowledgable coffee folks who smile and give you a way better cup of joe over here. read more

My favorite local cafe for a quick pick-me-up. Small location, and mostly neighborhood locals. Iced lattes (draft): 5 excellent, and incredibly smooth! Corsica latte: 5 Most roasts available for drip are medium roasts. Corsica is a good brew, but I prefer the iced draft lattes over all else here. So thankful for this new, local edition!! read more

Home to one of the best chocolate chip cookies I've ever had. I'm glad I stumbled into my neighborhood La Colombe, even though circumstances for why weren't great. Basically, a car alarm had been going off all morning and I finally couldn't take it anymore. I had to leave my apartment and go for a walk. Where I ended was this coffee shop to stress-eat a cookie and get an oat milk latte. I love their oat milk lattes! I'd recommend doing a black&tan with half oat milk latte. Im currently on tour with a musician and my favorite thing to do on my down time in each city, is explore all the local coffee shops nearby. Yesterday I checked for some coffee near me and La Colombe caught my attention because of the very good reviews I seen on this app, so obviously I made my way. When I entered, the atmosphere was great as I approached the cashier (lady with red/orange hair) I greeted her and all she did was stare at me so this threw my mood off already. Usually they'll say "Hello, How may I help you?" "Hi, What Can I get you today?" Etc, but with her NOTHING. I placed my coffee order and then asked her for a croissant plus for it to be warmed up. She placed it in a bag, handed it to me and said nothing. At this point I'm like okay I'm not going to be rude here... so I end up asking her co worker who was the complete opposite, that I requested it to be warmed up and he kindly let me know that they do not have an oven to to do so which was perfectly fine with me. I still didn't understand why the cashier didn't let me know?? Overall, the coffee was amazing, the croissant was amazing, atmosphere was amazing, everyone but her seemed to be in a great mood. $2 coffee that is tasty - my family member loves check. Friendly staff check. Cute & clean space check. Unfortunately there is not much seating with only 4 - 2 seat tables so this is more of a grab & go spot. They also are confused on decaf lol. I asked for a decaf coffee & they offered me a decaf expresso... bit of a "what the point oxymoron". Yeah I get "why be in a coffee shop unless you want coffee"; but I was there with a family member & I don't do caffeine. I might be super sheltered, but I have never been in a coffee shop that does not have decaf options. Don't they know there are people who cannot have caffeine for health reasons but love it. I do get that it is probably expensive to brew a cup of decaf for just one person. But to not even have a decaf teabag option. I'm sure so many people love super strong coffee, I don't & that is why I didn't want to go to Starbucks across the street. Meh, I got an over priced green tea that had caffeine. First night I came, (yesterday night) the cashier was super kind. & our drinks were 10/10 all 3 were so delicious that before leaving, I came in again. Now today the draft chai was not the same, the women added ice and didn't do it right like the previous night. Literally was watered down. Walking distance from my accommodations during a summer conferences, La Colombe was an exemplary cup of coffee in the Near North Side of Chicago's tony Gold Coast. Blink and you might miss the entrance or end up in the office building next door! La Colombe served up everything I needed for a morning pick-me-up including a tasty muffin and delicious cup of black coffee. There was a steady stream of customers here between 7-8am but service was quick and staffers were very attentive. They were really pushing the draft lattes made with oat milk, which I would totally try if I get back to the area soon. As far as coffee options go in this area, LC is the real deal and worth the trip for a terrific cup of joe! read more

A solid place to grab a quick cup of coffee. I randomly found the La Columbe storefront while walking around the area. I didn't even know La Colombe had storefronts. I usually just pick up a can of their draft latte from Trader Joe's The menu includes more than just your typical latte or brewed coffee. They have draft lattes on tap. I got a draft latte and it tastes better than the can. Its very smooth and creamy. I would love to try more of the menu. read more

I'm so ecstatic that this place opened up five minutes from me (also terrified for my wallet). Already went two days in a row. The oat milk latte ($5ish?) is uh-fruggin-mazing. Also sampled the draft latte ($4) which is also delicious (but definitely lactose laden for those of you who aren't blessed). Interior is cute. Staff was all super nice and not at all snooty for working in an upscale coffee shop in the Gold Coast. Prices are definitely fair for what you get. read more

I was visiting Chicago from Los Angeles and my sister insisted on taking me to La Colombe. I wasn't too convinced that it was the best coffee around but I decided to give it a try. She wasn't exaggerating! I normally get vanilla lattes or iced caramel macchiatos so I was a bit disappointed that La Colombe doesn't offer any of these sweet, calorie packed drinks. My sister suggested the oat milk draft latte. I didn't add any sugar to it and took a sip. I don't think I've had anything as delicious as it! It was so good that I requested going for another the next morning before my flight back home. The service is quick and for the quality, the price is reasonable. The menu is not as extensive as some other coffee shops but the simplicity makes this place great. And imagine my excitement when I found out there are other locations across the country, including 2 in the LA area! We all know where my new coffee shop is! read more
