Small mexican restaurant with a bar. The margaritas here and really good and the food is better than most in the area.

I love the Mexican food here, it never fails! Another amazing thing is that they have huge portions with low prices. Can't wait to come back!! read more

La Cina - The amazing tacos we had! - Mexican Near Me - Detroit, Michigan

Recently moved to the area and dropped in for lunch on 2 occasions now. The restaurant is very appealing 4-6 booths, a couple of tables and a nice bar. Cozy. Service ok as was the food. Nothing to write home about. Prices on the high side for the quality of the food. We have lived in Chicago and have family in California and Texas. I am Mexican American and grew up with this food. This was pretty average to below average. I checked the menu and had enchiladas, rice and beans. Sauce was ok but it could have come from a jar. 3 different enchiladas and best of the lot was the bean. Married well with the cheese. The others were kind of tasteless. Very mild not a lot of flavor, as were the 2 salsas for the chips. My wife had a salad, again nothing special. Too bad. It could be so much more. Nice margaritas. We were told using fresh ingredients, not a mix. read more

Service has gone way down hill. No bartender! my wife ordered a margarita and it took nearly 15 minutes to serve it - not exaggerating. It also took at least 10 minutes for the server to take our food order. Food was very good and I still love this place but it needs to ramp up its service to stay in the game. read more

Ordered fish tacos, chicken Chimney chunga, and three taco dinner. We were not satisfied at all. Food was bland, mushy and didn't resemble Mexican at all. I Just reminds me not to eat out. read more

Went there for Taco Tuesday. Tacos were great. The Chorizo cheese deep was the bomb. I'll be going back.

Great little dive Mexican Place. Steak Quesadillas here are muy bueno. Highly recommend!

The place has a cozy down home atmosphere with a friendly neighborhood vibe.. Best Margaritas in town!!! Opens for a special lunch menu...can't beat the prices. A great secret place for those that know best! read more

First time in this cozy little place. Booth seating to one side and a bar on the other. It's got a cool eclectic vibe, very clean. We were promptly sat and a server was there with menus and water and took our drink order. The menu is small but covers all the bases nicely. The chips arrived hot and the salsa made in house while we waited for our food which wasn't long. Nothing pretentious going on here just solid well prepared and fresh. Portions were generous and the prices fair. We've found another little gem! I would have given 4.5 stars simply for the fact that the dusty musty 70s one hit wonder ambient music included the theme from Greatest American Hero. A lot of you will be too young to remember lol. read more

We lucky enough to find La Cina and had the best experience! The service was incredible - it was May 6th and they were just coming off a crazy Cinco de Mayo yet they are so nice and welcoming. Food? Best beans and rice hands down! I had the Taco dinner and my husband had the quesadilla. Great portions. Last thing - bonus was the Diet Shasta soda. I had no clue what it was at first but it too was delicious and I can't recommend it enough! Can't say enough good things! read more

La Cina - Taco dinner (minus one!) and Diet Shasta Cola - Mexican Near Me - Detroit, Michigan

Enchiladas all day and the tacos are fire. Not to mention their salsa is up to par. Best Mex in town

A very nice addition to the GP area. Although their food is def more tex-mex in my opinion than real Mexican food, it definitely hits the spot. The portions are always filling, and always arrives hot. Def a good go to! read more

Great margaritas! Food is very good and lots of it. Very good service. Okay atmosphere. Best Mexican food on east side

We visited Lacina last week for the very first time. We were very impressed with the service and how tasty the food was. It's a very small place but you'll feel cozy there. It was slightly more pricey than I expected but definitely worth it. We will definitely be back.please try the chicken burrito there. It is amazing. read more

Date night. Margaritas. Tacos. Chips and guac. Quick service. What more could a girl ask for? Ask for Kristina. She's the best!!

The food is simply awful. I have nothing good to say about anything we tried. The service was slow and for some reason it' smells like dog

A tiny restaurant which delivers very good food and good service. The bartender makes a great margarita from scratch--no mixes. I had the tostada's which were very flavorful. The dish came with beans and rice. All were very good. My only complaint is they served the dish on a soup bowl-type plate and they were hard to eat and cut on that plate. They should have been served on a flat plate. (I know this sounds trivial, but it's important to me). My husband had fish taco's which. Bonus too. You can play the Michigan lottery games in there too. We also liked the quiet atmosphere read more

La Cina - Beef tostadas - Mexican Near Me - Detroit, Michigan

La Cina has been around for a long time and I always wondered if it was any good. Does not look like much from the outside, but then again, most gems are hidden. Met a group of friends there for dinner and really enjoyed it. As other reviews point out, menu is simple and food was very good. Lots of flavor and served quick out of the kitchen. Staff was friendly and moving with a purpose. Marg's were terrific and a good selection of Mexican beers (Carta Blanca, not bad). Free (warm) tortilla chips and salsa to start your meal is always a bonus. Place is a perfect example of why we feel good supporting a local small business. read more

I have been coming here for years!!! One of the best authentic Mexican restaurants in Metro Detroit without having to take a trip to Mexican town. Can't find better Mexican food on the East Side. Everything is made from scratch including the fresh warm chips and Salsa... There is always different specials and all are amazing! But wait it gets even better... if your looking for a local bar to hang out at this is where you want to be! The top it off they make the best margaritas in the world! A MUST if you stop in! Tip!- for Cinco De Mayo they have great drink specials and a HUGE Buffet! Taco Tuesday offers great deals, and you get a nice portion of taco sauce with your tacos. But keep in mind taco Tuesday deal is take out only. Oh and its mini wet burrito Wednesday! My usual order... Botana nachos are my favorite. Steak flautas and chicken enchiladas, chicken steak tacos. And to many to mention. All I recommend is that if your getting a carry out havena seat at the bar and order your food when you get there so you can enjoy one of their amazing margaritas while you wait!!! read more

Made it back here with the kids back from college. Once again the food was excellent. Service was also good.

These are the best margaritas in town! La Cina is a small quaint restaurant located in the Grosse Pointe Detroit Area. They occasionally have live music and limited seating. I typically order the Detroit special which is always yummy and super filling. They are generous with their portions and it has a nice flavor. The chips are always hot and the salsa is fresh! read more

Local place. Had tried it right after covid and it was OK. Tried it again last month and have been back twice. Much improved, or perhaps just back to normal. Hot fresh chips and homemade salsa. Food is definitely a step up from many other Mexican places I've tried. Often the rice and refried beans are just filler. These have flavor. Service is prompt and friendly. Oh, and the house margarita - no watered down mix here. Yum! Very happy this is in my neighborhood. read more

Margaritas and Enchiladas were excellent. Carrie and Nate were warm and welcoming. Very cute little neighborhood place. We will definitely go back read more

We've been going to La Cina for years. Convenient location for the GP area. Chips are always hot and fresh. Salsa is good. My wife recommends the Botana. I always get the Chipotle Chicken tacos...very good. Large portions! Service is always friendly. Allen has been there for years and is always fun to talk with. They added a full bar a few years ago which has make the experience even better. Perfect little neighborhood family spot. read more

It's a great Eastside hole in the wall restaurant. Very casual bar atmosphere. The Mexican food was authentic & tasty. They specialize in All types of tacos. Drinks are strong...,great margaritas! Bottled beer only but plenty of Mexican brands. Service was fantastic. I almost didn't want to write this for fear of it getting too crowded. read more

With its new higher prices, and more limited menu, La Cina gets the dubious ranking of "Completely Average" from this foodie. In the past, La Cina offered a larger menu, specials, and Taco Tuesday. Now all of that is gone. Nonetheless, you do get standard American Mexican fare. You get good chips and salsa, complimentary, upon arrival and free refills on request. They offer a bar and liquor and beer selections inside. Interesting enough you cannot just get single tacos. The ambiance is average, rather small dining room with no outside eating options. Overall the food isn't terrible, but it isn't great. When we think Mexican, La Cina is more of a "If we have to and don't want to drive" option. So if you have choices, take them and try somewhere else maybe in Mexicantown. read more

For the most part the dinner I ordered was pretty good, but my pork carnitas were a bit dry and the beef in tacos I ordered was quite bland. I hope it's better next time if I decide to go back read more

Friendly staff, good food, great margaritas! Prices are super reasonable and the quality is great. Small charming place. Been coming here for a few years and always leave happy. Get the Mexican pizza and pork enchiladas with verse sauce and you won't be disappointed. read more

Not as great as I was hoping. The food was good, a solid 3star, but the staff was what earned the fourth star, our server was super friendly and accommodating to all are requests. I do not recommend bringing young ones, there will be ppl drinking and cursing and the furthest table from the bar is only 15ft., so if you've got kids, maybe call ahead for carryout. read more

Has an amazing bar tender who is very friendly food is good and prices are very reasonable I like this place a lot.

I bought 3 tacos for taco Tuesday - a shrimp, steak, and beef. They were very good. I had started to order a burrito, but it didn't come with very much filling just the meat/bean with cheese. I hope in the future there becomes a standard filling for them, but for now the tacos are very good. read more

This is a little gem nestled into the border of GPP and Detroit. Small little place with great authentic Mexican fare. I've been going here for years and years and have even brought people here from out of town to experience it. I've never had a bad experience here unlike some of the other reviews. The food and service have always been amazing! I don't live in the area anymore and I would still travel to have some of their food. Well done. Don't change a thing! read more

My favorite place for Mexican food. I usually get some combination of the soft tacos (fish, chicken, or beef) but by the time they get to the table I am almost stuffed from the chips I start stuffing in my face from the second I sit down. The chips are always warm when they arrive and have made my wife forget about her previous favorite Mexican restaurant. I don't exactly know how to describe how the soft shells are prepared but they are always perfect and golden brown on the outside. read more

This place is HORRIBLE!! Last time I went my friend went to the hospital for FOOD POISONING!!! I don't think I will ever come here again. I had bad service, decent food . To top it all of my friend got food poisoning. This place should be called LA POISONA read more

Conveniently located right next to where I get my marijuana from, I've seen this restaurant several times. As a fan of Mexican food, if I see a sit down style Mexican restaurant I'm interested since there is an extreme lack of them around my way. Last night I decided to go in with a friend, and we had mostly mixed opinions. First thing to notice is that this place is kind of a dump inside. The owners have maintained some form of cleanliness through out the space, but it looks like a dive bar. It's really small as well. It's a Mexican restaurant, I don't go to these places to see how clean they are but its worth nothing. I'm assuming the owner waited on us at the bar, which took a little while at first but once the food began to come out it all came out with great timing. The food. - chips and salsa were fantastic. Great job on the chips, could have stood to have more in my basket. - soup was just ok. I had chicken enchilada, and the broth was really thin. But again, fried tortilla strips were a dream come true. - for my main course I had the taco dinner, and my friend had the chimichanga. Portion sizes were great but the food lacked any form of punch at all. My ground beef was super bland. It wasn't terrible, but not quite what I had in mind in terms of flavor. My friend added that his meal was merely chicken inside of a shell, no onion or any other type of fixin which we had both grown accustomed to seeing in other restaurants. All in all it wasn't a bad experience at all, and the people there were very nice. The price was right. But the food wasn't good enough for me to return. read more
