Stopped into Side Street Diner for breakfast today! Located at Kercheval and St Clair in The Village, Side Street was a perfect stop after a long morning walk and quick stop at Trader Joe's. I enjoyed the breakfast burrito with home fries and it was the best fuel before a day of deep cleaning the garage! This was my first time stopping in, after been wanting to go for years! Food was scrumptious and service was top notch. Will be back very soon! The burrito itself was LARGE. Tasted even better heated up in the air fryer the next day. Very flavorful. Could easily share this with two people if you didn't want leftovers for the next day. The home fries paired perfectly with the burrito. Nice crunch, too. Side Street Diner is one of those places you end up going back to again and again because it just never misses. I swear I've never had a bad meal here. Everything tastes fresh, like actually fresh. Even the fruit! Usually diner fruit is that sad bowl of mushy melon cubes... not here. It's bright, fresh, and clearly cut that morning. My go-to is the quiche and I order it almost every time. It comes with a bran muffin and that fresh fruit and it's just the perfect little breakfast plate. I've also had the veggie Benedict which is fantastic. And their breakfast potatoes; Pro tip: ask them to add onions. Soooo good. Crispy, savory, just hits the spot. The service is also top notch. This is a tight crew that's worked together for years. Everyone moves like a well-oiled machine and they're genuinely nice, not that fake diner nice. The vibe is a cute, eclectic little diner with lots of personality. By far our favorite diner nearby. The food is great with an extensive menu. They are accommodating with my gluten allergy. The staff makes you feel like family coming in. I went to Side Street Diner with a friend in the early afternoon on a weekday recently. We grabbed a booth in the back, and it was really noisy with patrons, crying toddlers and bus people slinging pots, pans, dishes and silverware. The server was kind and friendly, but harried. I asked for water with no ice. Received a glass with nearly all ice and no water. One of the soups of the day was Chicken Noodle though. It was delicious and comfy hot on this blustery day. My Reuben Melt was basically a grilled Reuben sandwich. The difference was not discernible. The sauerkraut was bland the the grilled bread was greasy. I asked for the coleslaw side and that was very tasty. All in all, i guess the place is OK, but i do not recommend it when it's busy. read more

Super cute and Doris approved 4.6 Sat outside. Was greeted within two minutes of sitting which I love. Had everything we needed including an umbrella to block the sun. There is a basket of extra napkins, salt, pepper, things of that nature on the table. We didn't feel rushed. Started with chips and guacamole, which was delicious. The bowl was lined with lettuce which I don't necessarily like but everything was very fresh. I also had a cup of clam chowder- it was made with love. And we had two wraps to go both yummy. I do recommend. Street parking as their parking lot is under construction until end of July. This is perfect for a lazy lunch or something delicious but not fancy oh, and well priced for everything plus 20% tip the bill was $58 dollars. read more

My sister and I went to this restaurant today and had the most amazing experience! We met Stacey who was our most delightful server, she knew her product and very obviously loved what she does. I ordered a Maurice salad ( absolutely delicious! ) my sister had the corned beef hash which she also loved. We really also wanted coffee. It came and tasted great! We looked up and saw a sign that said Cadillac Coffee. The tears flowed, our brother passed away two days ago, he sold CadillacCoffee his whole life and would tell you all about it every chance he got we told Stacey and she cried with us! We were treated like royalty! It made our day. We are flying home to California but will be back to see Stacey and Sue ( the owner, who is also lovely) please support this incredible business there is a lot of heart going on here!!!! read more

My wife found this place years ago and it's one of our favorite small diners! The food is beyond excellent, whether it be breakfast plates, sandwiches, or some comfort food dinners! Great breakfast, with so many options and a hidden potato menu. I usually get the traditional breakfast and my potatoes always have cheese and onion / pepper. It's so good. Definitely ask the waitress how to dress your potatoes. The breakfast burrito is tasty, it's more of a wrap with salsa but that's pretty normal for a Michigan / suburban place. I have also gotten the feta cheese omelette and that is dope, full of feta, and tasty. My husband has gotten the salmon Benedict and the biscuits and gravy and he had enjoyed them. I got food poisoning... bad. I came here after a long flight. I was starving and my brother recommended this place. I am plant-based so there weren't many options for me at all on the menu which was already a red flag. But I decided to get the vegetarian chili. I placed an order and went to pick it up. I was not greeted when I walked in, and I had to take it upon myself to greet them and ask them for my order. Red flag number two. There were lots of people inside so it seems to be a local favorite... But I would never eat here again. The chili was awful. The worst I've ever had. I only ate it because of how hungry I was.
