It's tucked away you have to kind of find it but it has gorgeous outside seating and the inside seating takes you back a few decades with its retro feel and Michigan nostalgia artwork. I had the portabella mushroom wrap with spinach artichoke dip and it was completely, absolutely delicious. Service was solid, friendly and refilled our drinks without asking, a rarity these days! Such a cute little place, definitely has the diner feel! Stopped in for dinner the other night with friends and was pleasantly surprised at the selection on the menu. I ended up with some broccoli cheese soup and Reuben wrap. Both were delicious! Tried some sweet potato fries as well and they were so crispy and delish. Their dipping sauces seem to be home made, as well as their dessert selection. Beautiful cakes on stands to choose from, sadly I didn't save room for dessert though. My wife and I came here at about 1 PM, and the place was packed. Great sign. I looked at the menu, and I couldn't believe my eyes: meatloaf...roast turkey...liver and onions. Do my parents work here?? They don't, but they could, because my parents are both great cooks. My parents never made me a Cuban sandwich, but if they had, it might've been like this one. This is really an excellent example of a Cuban. I chose to get a side of onion rings, which tasted like they were soaked in vinegar before frying. I also got a side of mac & cheese, but need salt but otherwise was very good. Club sandwich is also an excellent club, and the fries are perfectly fried: crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. The only minor comments I have are about the small sides. The coleslaw was good, until I ran into the raisins that they put in it. Interesting, but not my thing. The macaroni salad is the kind you might've had at a picnic. Nothing special. I usually criticize a place for having too many things on the menu. That might be true here, but they seem to do well with the things that they make. I love this place and wish I was on this side of town more. They always have great food and it's a fun family establishment. The desserts are homemade; always delicious. Food: went with the egg Sami with bacon. Yum! They put two eggs on it, so be prepared to be a lil messy (if you're concerned). Haha. Came here for a quick breakfast. They do not have gluten free pancakes, French toast or waffles. So the only options are omelettes or basic breakfast with eggs, a meat and potatoes. Just had take out and it was fantastic! I got corned beef and cabbage. It came with a side salad and I could have drank the ranch dressing. It might have been the best I've ever had. Super fun retro diner, with made from scratch food! We stopped in after a trip to Trader Joe's. Lots of options on the menu so it was hard to choose. I noticed the Waldorf chicken salad mentioned that you could buy it by the quart. That right there told me people love it so much, they asked if they could buy it! I had the sandwich on the toasted cranberry bread. Wow! One of the best sandwiches over ever had. There wasn't so much salad it was oozing out, but it wasn't a skimpy portion either. It was just right! I had the coleslaw with it, I like that it had raisins in it. Went well with the salad! My husband had the bubba shrimp wrap with pasta salad. He really enjoyed it The portions were exactly what we wanted for lunch. Enough to fill us up, but not weigh us down! All of the sweet treats looked so tasty. Maybe next time! Sidestreet is my local neighborhood diner and they've got the most generous portions and super consistently delicious food. Their potato plates and Benedicts are amazing for breakfast, and in winter for lunch or dinner I get hot sandwiches. In all weather, I get their pastas or a soup/salad. Also, this is a personal bias, but they always have plenty of pumpkin food in fall, and their pumpkin pancakes were out of this world. Like, damn. I also really appreciated their covid response and how fast they stepped up to help the community - they were one of the first businesses I saw that offered basic groceries during closings and shortages. I haven't had a chance to try their delivery yet but they're on Doordash, so I'm looking forward to getting comfort food soon. read more

I have ordered from the restaurant over the years. Over the past couple of days, I have attempted to order through the DoorDash site, including today. Each time I received a message, stating the restaurant was "unavailable" and not currently taking orders. However, when I called the restaurant to notify them. The staff person answering the phone was very accommodating and was somewhat rude, stating "everything was fine on their end" and they didn't know what to tell me, her tone was very condescending and this was not an interpretation issue. Our last day in Michigan, and being a huge fan of Grosse Pointe Blank and a movie nerd, we had to stop by and visit. I did NOT kill anyone, by the way. :) I know that most of the movie was actually shot in my hometown of Los Angeles, but I still wanted to set foot in the actual city. Went here for breakfast, and I was fully prepared to order "whole grain pancakes and an egg-white omelette." I was delighted to see that they actually serve a "Plain Jane" omelette(nothing in the omelette, nothing at all...I know it's not technically an omelette; "I don't wanna get into a semantic argument over it, I just want the protein, alright?") however, my wife gently insisted I get something in it. I settled for spinach and feta. It was delicious. And I got my pancake too. My wife got a yummy dish of scrambled eggs with tons of grilled veggies, too. Our waitress was wonderful, and I wish I had gotten her name, she gave us a couple of cookies to take back home to our girls and even pointed out a few places to find some GP souvenirs. A cool little patio space if that's your vibe..but the food is old school diner food with a modern twist. Ample portions and well prepared and the prices won't break the bank. It's been very long time since I've been to this part of Grosse Pointe, I forgot that there were a little places like this to try. Sitting just off of Kercheval, side street diner makes for a very enjoyable breakfast or lunch stop. The menu is varied, and you have a very nice homey feel to the place. I got a gigantic kick out of seeing Elvis Presley kitsch everywhere I looked, apparently the owner is a big fan. I was also quite pleased with the desert offerings, which are brought in from a local proprietor. If you don't mind paying to park, this is a highly recommended stop! read more

There are some great things on this menu. It's relaxed place and has a nice vibe. The roasted veggie salad is great. Just get the dressing on the side. It's too much.
