As first-timers at Lola's, we were genuinely impressed. From the moment we walked in, the fast-casual atmosphere and kindness of the staff stood out and made for a great experience. The menu has tons of options, the portions are generous, and the prices feel very reasonable. The guac was fantastic. I ordered the Cali Burrito without meat or cheese, and it was absolutely delicious and still full of flavor. One detail I really appreciated was that the chips came out hot and the dips were served in to-go containers, which made it easy to pack up leftovers and take them home. Their red salsa had a delicious smoky flavor and is definitely worth ordering. My husband tried the elote corn and really enjoyed it. It had a bit of heat, but the portion size and flavor made it well worth it. Overall, we had a great experience and already know we'll be back. We may have found a new favorite spot! read more

This side of town desperately needs more ethnic restaurants. Lola's Taco Bar is a nice addition to Mack Avenue, but I had higher expectations for the quality and authenticity of its food. I really enjoyed Mezcal Express in Dearborn and was anticipating a similar level of quality from Lola's. Unfortunately, Lola's feels a lot more like fast food or a high end Chipotle. Mezcal Express is also fast casual but the restaurant is owned by and hires people who share the same culture as the food they serve which makes a huge difference in the taste and authenticity. Lola's is a decent option for burritos and tacos on the east side but there is a lot of room for improvement. read more

I love new things. Blame it on my ADHD. Lola's is new and much needed. The Pointes lacks solid fare options. I was overall really pleased with Lola. My Baja shrimp taco was yummy. The salsa was spicy, the nachos were good, I highly recommend the 3 bean mix for $3 and my margarita was darn good. I left full and satisfied for $20. The manager is on it too. I went here with high expectations I left with stomach distress I should have known when my food came on a paper plate I was in for a bad time. I would have less intestinal distress eating a bag of sugar free gummy bears. Not one spice was harmed making my tacos. Baja shrimp taco was WAY too salty, as if multiple people passed by and salted it. Steak trompo tacos were okay, and chicken tacos were meh. Chicken burrito was just okay. The tortillas were run of the milll grocery store type, not even heated or grilled. Salsa had zero kick to it. It's a small place, and decor is kind of kitschy. Service was pretty quick, but hardly anyone was there. Chipotle has NOTHING to be concerned about. Probably won't go back. I REALLY wanted to like it. read more

Rotisserie chicken taco was completely uninspired and flavorless. But at least they were edible. Their "carnitas" was pork in a form I've never seen called carnitas before. The food was good but was disappointed that with 4 people behind the line cooking they wouldn't add cheese or lettuce to my taco. Was told no additions but they could take things off. The street corn wasn't what I expected. It was closer to a corn soup, very spicy. The French fries were so salty we couldn't at them. Super expensive for not that great of food. The tacos were cold when we got them despite not taking very long to come out--maybe because they didn't heat the ingredients?? Margarita was fine but basically just lemonade and tequila. Definitely not worth the hype. The floor was dirty and tables needed wiped down despite there being a bunch of people working. It's well decorated and the food LOOKS good but it's all style and little substance. read more

The majority of it unconsumed & tossed out. One taco (?) not even sure what it was (?) - just overpowered with a raw chili powder distraction. The pork (?) El Pastor was gristle & fat with one mystery piece that I had to pull out of my mouth because it was a long, stringy unidentifiable item that was the majority of the "taco"! That was worst for me but in a metro area with many quality Mexican food venues it's too bad. As GPFarms foodies we were excited to enjoy the new nearby "Mexican".
