Carne Asada Dinner
Adam S.

We're experiencing an explosion in new Mexican restaurants in the metro area and we visited Taco Tequila Y Mas back in October of 2025 and it was great! This space is pretty huge and they have plenty of appropriate decor; nothing over the top, and it makes what could be a cold an uninviting industrial like space really comfy. Our service was very good! Quick, attentive, friendly! I had the Carne Asada Dinner, which looks like standard Mexican fare with the Spanish Rice, beans and veggies etc... but the steak was the star of the show! Tender, juicy and well seasoned. A really nice asada! It came with tortillas, so you could build little tacos or just eat off of the plate. I also ordered an assortment of street tacos to take home for later in the evening and I was very impressed! Chicken, pastor and birria; all were great on their corn tortillas! Lots of flavor and decently portioned. Loved all of them! I love supporting local businesses rather than chains, and I was very impressed! I'll be back to try a torta and a burrito!!!

Spicy margarita!

Best spicy margarita!!!! Very nice ambience and great service. Come here often after work. Prices reasonable. I hear a lot of Spanish being spoken that means the food is great!

Loved the vibe and got my food super quickly (like fast food quick), favorite was probably the Morelos taco (steak and cactus) will definitely come back again

Birria, chorizo & shrimp tacos

Went for a weeknight dinner. The remodeled space is casual & comfortable, sports bar feel with TVs on. We were treated at the door, taken to a table pretty quickly. Service was good. I had an al pastor taco and a tostada. Husband had 3 tacos, birria, chorizo & shrimp. Ample fillings. He said they were all good. My pastor wasn't really the marinated pork I've had other places; it was heavily seasoned with a paprika sauce, not what I expected , & didn't enjoy. My tostada was good, quite a lot on top but I could barely taste refried beans on it. We'll give them another try sometime, but feeling under impressed. So many great Mexican offerings in the area. But they do have bar, so you can get a margarita or beer.

Had a great time here with friends the other night! Everything was great: the elote was tasty, all of our food and drinks were colorful, and my friends all loved the Baja shrimp tacos -- so I might have to try that the next time I come here! Great food, service, and aesthetics!

Fajitas and quesadillas

We absolutely love the old takeout place taco tienda so we had to try this new restaurant that they opened up. The food is still very very good, but now it cost more, which we expected. The service seems to be hit or miss. Our waiter was not very attentive. It was busy. He did not bring us water for about 40 minutes. The waitress at the table next to us came around with a pitcher multiple times, so I think the service in general was good. We just got unlucky. My husband loved the fajitas and I thought the chicken quesadillas were delicious. You do not get free chips here. I thought you would but we did like that the dip came with three options. We did not get a cocktail menu so we were not prompted to order a drink.

The drinks are amazing btw

Great food and always great service. We come about one a week and leave satisfied every time.

Update: Tried again, brought friends. They had the same problems. The manager / management really needs to address the service issues. We were there for 2+ hours because they are just so slow!! And got our order wrong 3 times!!! The waitress just disappears after each interaction. We were left sitting there with waters for 20 minutes! Then we order drinks and we look at them sitting at the bar window wondering when she's going to bring them. I started to get up to get them myself when the bartender noticed me and someone brought them over. C'mon Taco Tequila, get it together or this place is not going to make it. First time: Had a nice meal, but also had a few glitches. Took a minute or two to check out the drink menu and ordered a spicy Margarita and a regular margarita. The waitress asked if we wanted an appetizer and I ordered the chorizo and cheese app. She went off to make the drinks while we continued to peruse the menu. We ordered 1 chicken tamale, 1 pork tamale, 1 chorizo tostada and 3 other tacos. After waiting about 10 minutes we realized that our app did not come. We flagged down the waitress and asked where our app was, she walked over to the machine to put it in and we said, what you didn't put it in yet? and she admitted no. And then tried to talk us into still getting it, we declined. A couple minutes later our food came out. It was pretty good except they brought a chorizo Taco instead of a chorizo tostada. We pointed out the error to our waitress & she offered to bring a new one but again at that point it was too late. I thought the tamales were too dry and not enough meat, but the tacos were good. Another small pet peeve, we asked about chips and she said they were $4. I think that's a fail for a Mexican restaurant to not just provide something for you to snack on with your drinks while you wait for your meal. At $13.50 a margarita they can afford to give us a couple of chips and dip. The restaurant was nicely decorated. We sat at the bar which I found to be uncomfortable, but it just could be my height. My boyfriend didn't find it as uncomfortable as me. Because of the padded cushioning around the bar you have to lean over pretty far to get to your meal. Anyways I think they just have a few bugs to work out, I will go back and try a few more things and sit at a table next time and hopefully give them a better rating..

Great lunch at Taco Tequila Y Mas. House margarita tasted freshly made albeit pricey. Free chips and salsa are always appreciated and seemed fresh as well. I tried their chicken fajitas and was not disappointed. The sides included fresh guacamole at no additional cost. Will be back.

Update to earlier review: Good food, good margaritas and the waitstaff is on top of things. Would definitely recommend the fajita and a margarita for a great dinner choice. ps, the tortillas are to die for.

Strawberry Margarita

They had good food and the drinks are really good too. Decent size space and a cool vibe

I've…read morebeen coming here for over five years, and at this point, it is one of the only places I'll go when I want tacos because everything else tends to leave me wondering why I didn't just come here in the first place. The tacos are every bit as good as people say and the environment is clean and relaxed, they usually have some good music playing too. Authentic, flavorful, consistent, and made with care. But the birria is the real star for me. Hands down, it is the best birria I've had anywhere in Metro Detroit. Rich, tender, packed with flavor, and exactly the kind of thing you think about again later like it owes you money. The owner is also genuinely one of the sweetest people. He remembered my order after only a few visits, and that kind of personal touch makes the place feel even more special. I usually stick with my Mexican Coke, but I love that they have their liquor license now, because a margarita or Corona with the food is a very solid upgrade. I've brought a bunch of people here and sent a whole handful of others, and everyone has said the same thing. It is some of the best Mexican food they've ever had. One of my friends even said it was better than what he had in California and Mexico, which is a bold statement, but Que Pasa can handle bold statements. Que Pasa is not just good for the area, it is the standard I compare everyone else to. Which is probably unfair to everyone else, but here we are.

I went with the grilled chicken and while it was flavorful and delicious, I'm excited to try a different protein next time. The chicken in my tacos was a little dry but still tasted good as it was well seasoned and warm. The combos are a great deal--3 tacos, rice, beans, and a soda. My meal came with 2 salsas--the green was very spicy and the red had a unique flavor (also pretty spicy). When I saw that the burrito was $5, I decided to add that to my order as well and it was my favorite part. It's about the size of my hands (so maybe not enough for a full meal) but it's packed full of flavor. The taco combo was great, but I enjoy the chicken and beans mixed together in the burrito. The food has great flavor and served authentically. The restaurant was fully packed on a Friday night. It's giving diner vibes. Set up for quick service, not really a place to sit for a long time but they do serve alcohol. It's very bright and white in there, not really Mexican restaurant vibes--but the food is delish so I'm not bothered by that. The younger girl at the register was nice and a great multitasker on a busy night.

First of all, I'd be surprised if they were actually using a 14 in tortilla. A basic chipotle burrito is bigger than what I got. That's not great. The ratios were brutal. There was so much sour cream that I could barely taste anything else in some bites. The steak was chewy which was unfortunate. That and the fact that there wasn't much steak. The bites with guac were the best part. A very forgettable burrito. Don't know how it's rated so high.

The Mexican Street Tacos and Wet Burrito were still the same great menu items as before except much more expensive. The prices were still within range of other Mexican restaurants. But, unlike other Mexican restaurants, the chips and salsa were not complimentary but cost extra. I was not impressed with the restaurant, though. We were first seated at a table/booth combination and the booth upholstery was totally torn and had been taped and not very well. Very unpleasant, so we moved to a better location. The service was not exceptional even though there were barely any customers. There are a plethora of Mexican restaurants in the area now, so we will be searching for a new one that offers complimentary chips and salsa and nicer ambiance. Las Tortugas Taqueria, you really should have stayed at your last location (even with limited parking), which was so crowded at lunch and dinner time you could barely get a seat.

Disappointing Turnaround - Great Potential, Terrible Service and Quality Control…read more We had a great experience during our first couple of visits and for that, they get a couple of stars. Even though their signature dishes are Salvadoran, we order their traditional tacos, and they were easily a 5-star experience. Unfortunately, our visit today literally and metaphorically left a bad taste in our mouths, and we will not be returning. My wife and I ordered our usual four tacos each. The moment we both bit into the Al Pastor, we immediately looked at each other in shock, the meat tasted foul. Wanting to give them the benefit of the doubt, I figured they might just not sell their pork as often, but it was bad enough that it should never have been served in the first place. The real issue was how management handled it. I brought the matter up to a female staff member, and then to a male staff member who stepped in because she didn't understand me. Instead of handling the feedback professionally, the gentleman defensively questioned if I even "knew how marinated pork tasted" and then gave us the cold shoulder. I explicitly told them I was still going to pay our bill in full; I just wanted to alert them to a potential food safety issue. There was no apology, no courtesy offer, and absolutely no accountability. They simply went into denial and thought we didn't know the difference between marinated pork and spoiled meat. To top it off, when I went to pay the bill, the same man pointedly told me I needed to select a tip option on the screen before I could tap my card. While I normally have no issue tipping, I was in utter disbelief at the audacity to push for a tip after such a defensive and unaccountable interaction. I genuinely hope their kitchen and pantry hygiene are up to standard so no one gets sick, and I wish them well. However, they completely lost a customer today due to poor quality control and even worse customer service.
