I really wanted to give this place another chance, but unfortunately this was my second disappointing experience here. When I walked in, there were about three employees standing near the entrance and no one acknowledged me, including the server who eventually waited on me. An employee who was actually busy working in the back noticed me, came up front to greet and seat me, and then had to tell one of the employees standing there to greet the customer who walked in behind me. When it was time to order, I ordered a $16 combo and was planning to add an appetizer. As soon as I finished saying which combo I wanted, my server immediately started picking up the menu. I was literally reaching for it at the same time because I was trying to turn to the appetizer page. After an awkward back-and-forth, I just told her never mind and decided not to order anything else. The first plate was also disappointing. The presentation was messy, there was a surprisingly small amount of rice, and the ground beef was extremely soft pink and mushy to the point that I didn't want to continue eating it. I sent the plate back, and my server offered to bring me a menu so I could choose something else. Then I sat waiting for the menu while she was talking in the kitchen. I eventually reordered chicken enchiladas with rice and beans. The second plate looked better and had a normal portion of rice, but the food was still just okay. The rice was pretty bland, and the enchiladas were an odd combination of having some heat from the peppers while the chicken itself didn't have much seasoning. The mojito was fine, but pretty basic. My replacement meal also arrived without a fork because my original silverware had been taken with the first plate. After waiting, I finally got up to find a fork myself, and my server happened to come over as I was getting up. Throughout the entire meal, I was never offered a refill. Ironically, while handing me my CHECK, she finally asked if I wanted a refill on my mojito or water. I asked why she hadn't offered me one while I was actually eating. Her response was, "I'm just trying to be nice. It's part of my job," and she walked away. What makes this more disappointing is that this wasn't my first service issue here. On a previous visit, I paid by card and later noticed an additional tip amount of around $10 that I had not authorized. I came back to the restaurant and they did refund the additional amount. I don't expect fine dining from a casual Mexican restaurant, but I do expect to be acknowledged when I walk in, be allowed to finish ordering before my menu is taken, have my server check on the table, receive silverware with my meal, and be offered a refill before I'm being handed the check. The replacement food was edible and they did allow me to change my order, which I appreciate, but after two disappointing experiences, I don't see myself returning. read more

Very few things were good about our dinner on 7/17/2026 at Grand Azteca. The tortilla chips and salsa were excellent, but after that, the visit quickly went downhill. The waitress did not greet us. Instead, in a rushed and unsmiling way, she said only, "What do you want?" Our dinner plates arrived 10 minutes apart. Meat was full of gristle and large pieces of fat, so much so that after I'd cut out the gristle and fat, less than one-third of my meat was left. In the fajitas, the chicken was so overcooked that it was hard. The fajita chicken and beef arrived in a deep pool of oil. The tortillas were hard and barely lukewarm. The waitress mever checked in with us to see if we needed anything. Instead, we had to leave to table to find her, to get out check. We won't return. read more

The highlight of this place is its decent Mexican food coupled with generous portions. It is operated and run by people of Mexican decent - servers, managers, etc. Menu is expansive with multiple categories- fajitas, platters, burritos, enchiladas, salads, etc - and within each there are recommendations that are highlighted. Price was upwards 15$-$20 but again portions are generous. Many servers were of Mexican descent, some with little English fluency. It was a bit hard to communicate. Got take out from here earlier this week for my family. The food was bland and weird. The cheese on my wife's enchiladas was like a low quality pre shredded cheese you'd get from Walmart, while my crispy tacos were soggy and falling apart. I'd say none of the food tasted good but that would mean it had a taste. We all got food poisoning from this place and only just got better four days later. I've had better Mexican food at Taco Bell. I'm not sure where to start because this is the BEST Mexican restaurant I've ever been to. I ordered the chorizo-steak which came with three flour tortillas and I swear I ate the whole thing and wanted to come back an hour later. I've probably been here over 200 times in the last 5-6 years and have enjoyed each and every trip. The soft taco and ultimate nacho combination is heaven on earth for me. It's not bad, I'm just used to homemade daily. I feel that they definitely have room for improvement. I have eaten inside a few times and it was just ok, pretty good, nothing spectacular, I don't have many complaints! If you want good food, and don't want to drive all the way to southwest or downtown, then definitely stop here!
