Tried La Chingada Taqueria for the first time today. It's located in San Jose, CA, in the Berryessa/North San Jose area. Ordered the food to go. The woman working at the front was super nice and friendly. She even gave me extra sauces to go with my order, along with tortilla chips, which was a nice touch. They have several different sauces, including a bright green sauce that was really good. I ordered their carnitas jumbo burrito and a carne asada super burrito, and both were huge. At the price point, I'd say it's a pretty good value, especially considering the size of the food you get. I also tried a carnitas taco loaded with cilantro and onions, and that was very good. I'd probably come back specifically for their tacos. The burritos were absolutely stuffed with filling and meat. They were a little on the wet side, but I didn't mind it too much. I've heard their nachos and fries are also good, so I'll probably try those next time. Overall, pretty good first experience. 4 stars for the taco and 3.5 for the burrito. I'd definitely recommend the tacos here for now until I try the other food on the menu. read more

Yummy taqueria spot near PHHS in northeast San Jose! I stopped by after work with two of my kids. My son ordered the chocolate churro and loved it. My daughter and I shared the Quesabirria tacos and the cucumber lime agua Fresca. Our food and drinks were so delicious. The taqueria was clean inside, decorated with colorful paintings of legendary music icons. Our food arrived quickly and the tacos were hot and scrumptious. We kept dipping our Quesabirria tacos into the consommé, so flavorful. Our server greeted us with a big smile and was attentive to us the whole time we dined inside. I loved the salsa bar, you can pick which ones you like and take it to your table. We finished our chips trying all the different salsas. Coming back here for sure. read more

I came here with two friends after a weekday hike. There is a sign with daily specials up. One friend got the Wednesday special- nachos with agua Fresca or soda, another friend got the tostada plate, and I got two tacos- carne asada and al pastor. The place was pretty empty when we arrived around 8 pm on a Wednesday. After we got in line to order some other folks arrived for take out orders. I enjoyed the chips and salsa bar- the sauces were fresh and flavorful. My tacos were tasty- but came with a salsa that was too spicy for me -- I'm a spice lightweight. I ordered on the kiosk at the entry and didn't see an option to order with mild salsa or salsa on the side. I definitely would have enjoyed my tacos without less spicy salsa. I had recently had dental work and spicy and hard food was a bit uncomfortable for me. There was an option to order self serve at a kiosk or at the cash register with a staff member. One thing I like about La Chingada is it's location. It's quiet and calm. It's away from the busyness of the city. First, the food came out quickly and the food itself was good/standard. Service is quick and the food is good. The servings are worth the price. The chips can be stale sometimes. The horchata is perfect to go with hot-mild sauce on the tacos. The restaurant is clean. This is NOT okay. I ordered a shrimp burrito. My burrito was falling apart (fine I don't care, it happens, I'll eat with a fork and knife if I have to) but when I pulled this burrito apart I found MEAT in it. I ordered shrimp for a reason, because I have been avoiding meat for religious reasons. This is absolutely not okay and now I have to throw away an otherwise perfectly good meal. One or two pieces of meat I would have just nudged off to the side but to have the meat present in every part of the burrito is just annoying! This place needs to fix its cross contamination procedures because this is unacceptable. read more

So I'm sorry to say I can't recommend it like I used to. Yes the breakfast burrito tastes great but they have introduced two major problems. 1) They go rid of their tomatillo sauce. Now they just some advocado sauce that isn't that good. 2) Their prices are way, way too high. Every few months they raise their prices. I just pay $17.30 for regular burrito. Not a a super but regular. Sheesh. It isn't that good especially when the sauce has declined. read more

I went because it was close to the library and I was starving. I am so glad I did because the meal hit the spot in the best way possible. Only four stars instead of five is because the steak was too tough to eat but everything else on that plate got demolished. The service was very fast at getting me food and you can tell that the major avenue is takeout. Inside was absolutely beautiful with two of the walls having artist murals where you can actually tell who is who. I'm so glad I stumbled upon this place. 1st time trying this place out, drive on Piedmont rd every day twice a day & haven't really noticed it. Last week I had the windows down in the heat & smelled the food aroma & spotted it. Here I am today & loving this place already. Hubby got a California burrito as big as his arm. I recommend getting the burrito to share unless you have a big appetite lol. I'm a bit surprised this place is only rated 3.8 stars as I type this. This is one of my favorite taquerias. So why 4 stars not 5? Well, in about 4 years they've gone from about $9 for a super burrito to $16 (and it's across the board on all their food). Yes, I know that's not too uncommon for a burrito in the Bay Area these days, and yes I know inflation has been bad, but not THAT bad. Other than that, this place is fantastic. The food is really good. Pro tip: Try the alambre. It's great. The people are friendly and professional. And they'll even bring your food to your table for you sometimes. The decor is fine. Tables are standard "bench type" seats and tables. The murals are really cool. read more

Fast pace no thrill Mexican food takeout/restaurant in North San Jose area that has been here forever but GF and I just discovered. Arrived for early dinner and place was popular with school kids! Basically order at the counter and the bring food to your table. Prices are very reasonable. GF and I shared a combo plate and super nachos which was a Wednesday special with drink. The place has few tables inside and seating outside as well. Nice mural on the wall. I enjoyed the meal especially the carnitas. The beans was on point for me. Everything looked very clean when we walked in. My friend loved her shrimp & octopus cocktail. She let me try some and I thought it was so fresh!! While she got something to cool down, I went with a hotter option - birria ramen. First off I didn't realize how big the portion would be. Lots and lots of noodles, meat and consome. My favorite part of course was that they threw a quesabirria taco into the ramen. It felt like a little extra treat lol. I came here because I've been on a taco binge and I hate when people don't try the food and leave a bad review, but when the person taking your order can't comprehend what you want it makes a difficult to try the food. I attempted to order a pastor and super carne tacos everything on it. I asked if they sell the orange sauce she said with an equivocal yes...so I asked you sell the orange sauce right? She pointed to a sign that was hanging on the window where orders are taken, but all it had was a picture of 2 loca sauces - green and orange. I asked how much? She said two. I asked two for what? How much for just the orange sauce? She then pointed at the orange sauce at the sauce bar with an annoyed look. I acknowledged her and said yes, how much to purchase to go? She then said ok two tacos pastor and asada and was about to put my order up. I've not been wanting to deal with nonsense and repeating myself when trying to order food. I'm not asking for anything difficult and in this case there weren't any modifications to the food, just wanting to pay extra to take some orange sauce home. I ultimately said I don't want to order and walked out. No prices were given for the two tacos I was trying to order and couldn't get an answer if I could pay more money to buy orange sauce to go. I'm now searching for a different place that can comprehend what I'm asking. If it wasn't for her attitude, I would've ordered but she rubbed me the wrong way. read more

Excellent food and ambiance. The menu was full of interesting items that are not your standard Mexican Fare. For instance we tried the Birria Ramen with a Taco. It was life changing especially on a Rainy nine I can also recommend any of the Torta's. Very hearty and filling read more

This place has significantly declined since my last review and its really a shame. The quality in the meat is just so poor while the prices just keep going up. Everytime I order al pastor, the meat bits are fried and dried to oblivion and so chewy. I used to get the super burrito and its just average now. La Chingada has become the place that "gets the job done". They do close late ~10 pm so if you really need your fix of Mexican food that just barely does the job, this is a decent option. read more

I can't stop thinking about the tacos here seriously, some of the best I've ever had. From the first bite, you can tell everything is made fresh, with so much care and flavor packed into every detail. The tortillas were warm and perfectly soft, the meat was juicy and seasoned just right, and the toppings added the perfect balance without overpowering anything. What really stood out was how each taco had its own unique flavor, yet they were all equally delicious. You can taste the quality of the ingredients, and it makes a huge difference. The portions were generous, and everything came out quickly and hot. On top of that, the staff was incredibly friendly and made the whole experience even better. My son and I were lucky to find this place that was open so last minute since he was starving after his wrestling match down the street. He got a quesadilla and I got an horchata and we were on our way! I actually loved the mural that was to the far right of the register. It was more towards the lobby area and it had a bunch of inspirational people painted on it. There were two family sitting back there, so I didn't want to take a picture of it, but you should definitely check it out for yourself! The service was very quick and we noticed they had a number of DoorDash orders/called in orders that were ahead of us, but the food took about 10 minutes to get and we are on our way. Sadly, I didn't get a picture of my son's quesadilla, because he was starving and inhaled it, but it smelled delicious and my Horchata was perfect and hit the spot! The only drawback I would say for this particular establishment was it was a little rundown since there's a fenced off Store to the front of the parking lot and I couldn't tell where the actual parking lot was for the establishment, so I parked on the street. It's right by the fire station so I figured our car was safe but still it was a bit odd to me parking on the street and running in really quick.
