This is such a nice neighborhood restaurant. Very welcoming and the food is amazing. I will be honest don't get anything chicken because it's cut in squares no matter what you get ( I like my chicken shredded) . But other than that everything else is amazing. My sister suggested we dine here for our girls night out. I did enjoy the ambiance that day. We had mariachi music that day so that made it feel special. I was on the other hand disappointed that they did not have the food I wanted at that time. As a vegetarian it's not quite easy to eat out and the options are limited. We had no intentions of going here but I'm so glad we did. It was my first time there after golden nugget around the corner was super duper packed. I loved the sugar skulls and decor of the place. Our waitress was really polite and offered a sample of the agua fresca before we decided to purchase it which I really appreciated. The tacos are very flavorful and the serving size of rice and beans is very filling. By the time we left we couldn't breathe. Lol They had a kids meal which came with one taco, rice and beans and I thought that was awesome. We usually have to order side dishes at any other place but I love they had the option to make it a meal fit for a child. We will definitely be going back again. First time ordering and they did not disappoint! My husband stated that they were the best chicken tacos he has ever had. Our daughter had the steak tacos and she's picky and she LOVED them. My son agreed with his dad on the chicken tacos. I had shrimp tacos and chorizo tostada and all I can say is YUM. We all shared quacamole and chips and we were fighting over the last chip. The food was so fresh, so well made, and nothing we ordered was mediocre. Don't hesitate...order from here. Food was really good! Didn't get to take pictures but cecina is really good and the birria tacos with consomé. The consomé reminded me of the consomé from Mexico,really good. The first red flag was when we were putting our name on the waiting list. One of the servers was eating from a plate that she had just took away from a table. We waited 30 minutes to be seated on a weekend. Our first time there so we decided to order our drinks while we looked at the menu. Our server asked us (with an attitude) if we were ready to place the food order. We asked her for a minute to look over the menu. She answered "a minute?! okay but I have other tables and the sooner you put in our order, the sooner you will get your food!" When she came back, I started telling her what I wanted and she just walked away to go charge a table that was leaving. She was extremely rude to everyone walking in but friendly with her coworkers. it definitely shows that she can not work under pressure. We got the birria tacos. tacos and consomé had no flavor. Chilaquiles verdes were also flavorless. Our gorditas were hard like if they were sitting there for a few minutes. Sopes were okay. all of our food had big pieces of burned food from the grill. The margaritas (mango) tasted like water and alcohol. It didn't have any color. It reminded me of a banana smoothie. As I was eating my food, I noticed one server kept eating off the peoples plates and our server grabbed some tortilla chips and started dipping them into the big salsa container that was in the fridge. I wouldn't had tipped the server but it was included in the bill. Overall the food is not horrible but it isn't good. The service was trash, I would definitely never go eat there again. read more

It was mediocre tbh, the "patio" looked like a backyard party experience rather than a restaurant. The server checked on us only because I went to go look for her. We finished our drinks and wanted more but the server was nowhere in sight. They don't split checks they won't accept two cards to split evenly, the claim is "their system won't allow it" our food took an extremely long time I would say 45mnts-1hr to get our food it wasn't even busy! Happy to have a solid Mexican restaurant very close by! Location: 5/5 - Easy to walk to if you live in the area and right across from the park. Atmosphere: 5/5 - Totally takes you by surprise when you walk inside. Wonderful art everywhere and very nicely decorated. Cozy environment and well taken care of. Service: 5/5 - I only ordered takeout so I can't speak to the quality when you dine in, but the woman who took my order was very nice and we chatted about the beautiful artwork and the newness of the restaurant. Don't believe the hype. Went here with my friend for lunch. Honestly should have just gone for hotdogs. Service- server was friendly but seemed like her mind was elsewhere. Burrito (asada) is a 4/10 mostly lettuce and beans Enchiladas (verde de pollo) are a 2.3/10 for ONLY PRESENTATION tatse was trash. Fatty chicken, barley any salsa, and the torillas just break apart or stick. (How does that even happen?) I had to let the server know that they were not good and to remove it from the bill. We didn't even eat half of one. Ambiance- it looks pretty but kinda worn down. "MANAGEMENT/OWNER" I asked to speak to a manger, our sever told me only the owner was there so I asked for her. Well the lady who had been at the register (also the one who left the towel) approached. As we speak she is using the same tone my Tias would use to us as kids. I was upset. Their frozen margaritas were okay, nothing too special. This Mexican joint recently opened, and has one of the best Torta de Milenesa (breaded chicken sandwich) that I've ever had. I have enjoyed this particular sandwich all over Mexico, and La Catrina's is just as authentically delicious--if not more so. I love the that this restaurant also gives you a vase of ice water for your table when you are seated, perfect for a hydration-addict like myself! They also give you courtesy chips, with 3 different salsas. I can speak on many of the other items, other than the rice, beans and cebollitas--which were all spectacular. Second time eating here in a week. Despite being nowhere near my house, I think I have found my new favorite Mexican spot. read more
